The days following the incident with Eric had been a whirlwind of emotions for Cora. Every day, she found herself gravitating towards Derek's house, her concern for him overriding any other obligations she had.
Somehow, it had become a routine for her now, visiting Derek, checking on his recovery, and finding solace in his presence and today was no different.
As Cora walked up the familiar path to Derek's front door, she felt a flutter of nervous excitement. She carried a small bag of groceries which she had gone to pick at the grocery shop, determined to do something special for him today.
She knocked gently and waited, her heart pounding in her chest. Derek who had been expecting her wasn't surprised to see her when he opened the door, however it didn't stop, his face from lighting up with a warm smile the moment he saw her.
"Cora, come in," he said, stepping aside to let her in.
