Fiona's mother remained silent after Fiona was done telling her everything there was to tell.
After a while, Diana spoke up. "So, you mean you worked at that place just to be able to afford my medical bills and just because Liam hired you to deceive his mother, she is trying to ruin your life this way?" Diana asked, feeling very sorry for her daughter and all she had put her through unintentionally.
Sensing her mother's guilt, Fiona stretched her hand and placed it on her mother's. "You don't have to put it like that," Fiona said, but her mother merely shook her head.
"It's not your fault, Mom. I did it willingly because I love you and can't afford to lose you. And you shouldn't hate Harriet. She is only being human and sensitive...."
"Still she went too far. All you did was love her son, Fi," Diana said, her voice breaking and Fiona sighed.
