While Derek and Liam's hands were still raised, trying to get Eric to drop the gun, Liam's phone rang with a call from Fiona.
Eric turned his attention from Derek to Liam. "Turn off you phone, right now!" Eric yelled, his gaze fixed on Liam amd never leaving him.
Derek saw this and decided to act on the distraction. Seeing as his eyes were fixed on Liam, he decided to outplay Eric.
The tension in the room was palpable as Derek tried to outplay Eric, hoping to act on his reflex and take the gun from him without anyone getting hurt.
But in a split second, everything went wrong. Eric, the moment he turned and saw that Derek was launching towards him, immediately felt cornered and fear gripped him.
Feeling fearful, cornered and desperate, Eric fired the gun at Derek in that second. Derek felt a searing pain in his arm as the bullet tore through his flesh.
