"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Liam asked, noticing her distress and she shook her head.
"It's my mother," Fiona replied, her voice trembling. "The doctor says she's having complications. I need to get to the hospital right away," she said as she brushed last Liam and made her way out.
Liam quickly stopped her, grabbing her hand. "I'll take you," he said, his worry evident in his voice and Fiona looked at him unsure she wanted that.
"You have to get there immediately. She could be in a life threatening situation for all we know," he said and without arguing, Fiona agreed.
Liam took charge, guiding Fiona out of the office and into his car.
Fiona's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts as she sat in the passenger seat, her eyes fixed on the road ahead as Liam started the car and drove off.
She couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in the pit of her stomach since she received the phone call.
