Fiona, who had just dropped her phone after the call disconnected, turned to the door when she heard a knock, followed by the cracking of the door.
Seeing as the door was being opened even without her consent, she didn't need anyone to tell her it was Liam. And just as she knew, Liam walked into the room.
"What do you want?" she asked as she eyed him and Liam chuckled as he looked at her, not saying anything.
He had been about to open the door when he heard her mention PK Enterprise, so he had decided to eavesdrop since he hadn't even told her he owned the company and he knew she didn't know that considering how she didn't even know him in the first place.
He had been totally surprised when he heard her say she had received a call for the post of the CEO's P.A. He was the CEO and he had also considered the girl who had applied for the position. He could remember that her name was Fiona Lopez. He had even considered giving her the job because she had the same first name as his hired girlfriend.
How could he have known that Fiona Marcus and Fiona Lopez were one and the same person? Why did she have different last names though? Which was her real name?
Looking at her, and her feisty stare, he couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. How would she react the moment she walks into his office on Monday morning and realize that her fake boyfriend was her boss?
He wondered in amusement. He was definitely looking forward to that day.
Fiona had a confused frown on her face as she watched Liam look at her with a visible smile on his face. What was amusing him? She reasoned as she looked down at herself feeling self-conscious under the scrutiny of his gaze.
"It amuses me how you can boldly ask me that question when you're the one in my room," Liam said and Fiona sighed.
"I guess this is where I have to move to the guest room," she said and turned to go pick up her small luggage box, not bothering with the other things Liam had gotten her which were lying on the couch.
Liam watched as she attempted to walk past him to the door and then caught her hand before she could get to the door.
"Who did you take your impatience from? I hope you know if this was a real job, I could fire you if you behaved this way," Liam said and Fiona pulled her hand away from his hold.
"I guess you're a jerk to your employees then. I wouldn't be talking rudely at you if you haven't been such a jerk," Fiona said in her defense and then added. "Besides, there's no way I'd work for a jerk like you. Never."
Liam chuckled unable to keep it in. He wondered what she would do on Monday when he offers her the job without even an interview. He mused.
"Never say never, darling," he said and she rolled her eyes.
"Not in this case. Why are you even here? Bantering words with you gives me a headache." she hissed.
"Well, seeing as we told Cora we were going on a movie date, I was hoping we could actually go. We have to create enough memories for our story tomorrow," he said and Fiona shook her head as she crossed her hands over her chest.
"This isn't the first time I'm playing girlfriend for a client. We don't go out in order to create memories seeing as it's pointless," she said and he cocked a brow.
"Is it?" he asked and Fiona frowned in confusion.
"What is?"
Liam shrugged, cocking his head to the side. "I mean, is it truly pointless? My mother can be very observant...."
Not letting him finish, Fiona cut in. "Then it's your job to make sure are is convinced, not mine. I can't go on a movie date or any kind of date with you...."
"Why? Scared you might end up in bed with me a second time?" he said and Fiona looked at him, her cheeks flushing a bright pink out of embarrassment.
Liam who didn't know this wondered if the color on her face was because she was angry or because she was embarrassed.
"I've gone too far. I'm sorry," he said and Fiona sighed inwardly. Why was she letting him get to her? She questioned herself.
"I'm glad you know that," she said and Liam nodded.
"Since you've made it clear you won't be going, I'll leave you now. I'll be in Phil's room in case you need my help," he said and left.
Fiona sighed the moment he walked out of the room. She was tired and couldn't wait for the contract to finish so she could leave there immediately and never cross paths with such a jerk.
Her attention immediately drifted to her phone when it started ringing. She picked it up and worry lines etched on her face when she realized it was the same number from the previous day.
"Hello?" Fiona asked, her uncertainty evident in her voice.
"Ms. Fiona, I'm calling from PK Enterprise. This is to inform you that you will no longer be interviewed on Monday," he said and Fiona's heart skipped a beat.
Was she already losing the job when she didn't even have it yet? "What? Why? Are my no longer needed?" she asked, voicing out her concern.
"On the contrary, you've been given the job. The CEO said to give you the job. That he wouldn't be available to interview you," he said and Fiona's heart limped from over excitement.
"Really?" was all she could say.
"Yes. You're to resume on Monday by 8 a.m.. I'll advise you to not be late, Ms. Fiona. The CEO loathes late coming especially when you're just resuming," Paul advised.
"Alright. Thank you," she said and once Paul entered the call, Fiona stood up and did a happy dance.
It still felt pretty surreal knowing she was now a staff at PK Enterprise. Although she was pretty happy, she decided to wait till she had gone to the company to confirm her employment before celebrating or telling Elena about it.
