Elena turned to Phil, her eyes sparkling with mischief, just as they approached the entrance of the club. "What do you say about us pretending to be meeting for the first time today?" she asked, and Phil turned to her, focusing his gaze on her.
"Like, you're not Phil, but just a handsome stranger, and..."
Phil's eyes crinkled at the corners as he completed her sentence, "And you're not Elena, but just a beautiful stranger?" His amusement could clearly be seen and Elena's soft laugh confirmed she was enjoying this playful charade.
"Exactly," she said, her nod almost imperceptible as she continued to look at him, waiting to hear his response.
Phil chuckled, the sound low and husky, and Elena's heart skipped a beat.
"As ridiculous as this sounds, I sort of like the idea, so let's do that," he said, his eyes never leaving hers and she nodded, a sly smile spreading across her face.
