Chereads / The CEO's Hired Girlfriend / Chapter 3 - Make her pay

Chapter 3 - Make her pay

"It's you!" Liam said with a glint of mischief in his eyes and the manager turned to look at Fiona as he wondered if Fiona and Mr. Parker knew each other.

Why was she in the manager's office? He had wondered what she was doing there with her luggage but seeing her there in the manager's office where he was supposed to meet his hired girlfriend only meant one thing.

She was his hired girlfriend. Maybe he could be wrong but he hoped he wasn't. He wanted her even if it meant asking for her.

After all the accusations she had made against him, he was just going to make her pay for them.

"Do you know each other?" the manager asked, snapping Liam out of his thoughts.

"No."

"Yes," Fiona and Liam said simultaneously, confusing the manager even more. He shifted his gaze from Fiona to Liam, who had said yes.

"You both know each other? How do you know her?" he inquired, and Liam smiled.

"We both almost got into an accident because of my negligence. I'm sure that's why she's so pissed at me," he said, turning to Fiona, and she raised a brow.

Wasn't he going angry at her of something? And what was he doing defending her?

"You didn't tell me you were almost involved in an accident," The manager said, and Fiona shrugged.

"I wanted to but you'd count it as one of my usual excuses," she said, and the manager sighed.

"I'm glad nothing serious happened. So, Mr. Parker, meet Fiona Marcus. She'll be your hired girlfriend for three days as you stated earlier when you contacted us," the manager introduced, confirming to both Liam and Fiona that their suspicions were true.

Liam smiled, glad that she was really his hired girlfriend while Fiona sighed, not the least bit happy about it.

If she hadn't received her pay and couldn't afford to return the money, she wouldn't have gone ahead with the job after what happened between them. Thankfully, she wouldn't have to see or have anything to do with him again since she was quitting after this.

It was just three days. Nothing can go wrong in three days. All she had to do was, do her job. Follow him to dinner with his mom and pretend to be his girlfriend. It wasn't the first time she was doing this. Fiona assured herself.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Marcus," Liam said with a warm and charming smile as he extended a hand to her for a handshake.

"Thank you," Fiona said, taking his outstretched hand, albeit with a raised brow as she couldn't understand why he was smiling at her that way.

"As much as I'd love to stay here with you, I have to run along now," Liam said, turning to the manager who nodded in return before bidding his farewell to Fiona and watching her leave with Liam.

"Don't you owe me an apology?" Liam asked after Fiona had dropped off her luggage in the back seat of the car and they were both comfortably seated in the front seats.

An apology? Fiona scoffed inwardly. He couldn't even help her carry her luggage.

"If you had told me you were there for an appointment, I wouldn't have said all I said," Fiona replied, and Liam chuckled as he started the car.

"What about what you said by the roadside?" he asked as he drove off.

"Weren't you distracted because you didn't focus on the road? I saw the way you looked at me. I bet that's how you look at girls. Little wonder you don't have an actual girlfriend and need the services of an agency," Fiona said, and Liam raised a brow.

"What about you though? If you're that decent, why are you working here?" he asked, and Fiona frowned slightly annoyed.

"And what do you mean by that?"

"I'm trying to know if your boyfriend is okay letting you work here," Liam said sensing her annoyance. He wondered why she was annoyed when he was yet to start with her.

Fiona looked at him suspiciously. "Is that your way of asking me personal questions?"

Liam gave her a quick glance. "Is it so bad if I know a thing or two about my girlfriend?"

"Your hired girlfriend you mean?"

"Well, I won't call you fake or hired since we'd be doing everything that couples do," Liam said, and Fiona's brows drew together in confusion.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You'll find out later. So, do you have a boyfriend?" he asked again, and Fiona shook her head.

"I'm sorry but I can't answer that, Mr. Parker. We don't allow personal questions. It's against our policies," she said, and he nodded.

"Okay. Let's talk about us..."

"There's no us. This is only a role play. To fool your mom," Fiona cut in and he shrugged.

"Role play, whatever makes us an item. Besides, how do you expect us to fool her if we don't act real?"

"If you were looking for a real girlfriend, you should've gotten any random girl. I'm sure it'll be a piece of cake with those looks of yours," Fiona said before she could stop herself.

Liam chuckled when he turned to see her shutting her eyes. "Is that a compliment?"

Fiona sighed inwardly. When she had stepped out of the car earlier and had seen his face, Fiona had had to agree with herself that Liam was a sight to behold but all that thinking was in her head.

How could she have made a slip? She mused and shut her eyes in embarrassment.

"I see you consider me handsome. I'll take it as a compliment then," he said, stealing another glance at her before focusing on the road.

It was good enough that she considered him handsome. It would make it easier for him to get her. He mused.

The rest of the drive was silent and because of the long-distance drive, Fiona fell asleep on their way and only woke up when the car came to a stop a couple of minutes later.

They got down and Liam led her into the house, carrying her luggage. Once inside the house, Liam turned to her, "Mary will show you to your room. Here," he said, handing her his debit card and she frowned. "My driver will be here any moment from now and will take you to a nice boutique where you'd get beautiful and classy clothes...."

"But I came with my clothes...."

"I know. Just take it as a welcome gift...."

"I don't accept gifts from clients," Fiona cut in again, and Liam shot her a look.

"You're here for barely ten minutes and you're already making a slip. I have workers everywhere and I can't afford to let them know of our arrangement so please, let me treat you as I would, my girlfriend since you're one now. And I think it's time you stopped calling me 'Client or Mr. Parker.' You need to call me something sexy," Liam said closing the space between them and Fiona swallowed.

She stepped back not liking their proximity and said, "Something sexy?"

"Yes," Liam said huskily as he stared down at her. He let his eyes travel down her lips and all he could think of was to cover that heart-shaped lips with his.

Fiona, uncomfortable by the lust she could visibly see in Liam's eyes cleared her throat. Her way of putting an end to whatever that look was doing to her.

"You need to...." before she could finish, one of his domestic staff stepped out. Immediately, Liam straightened up and put a distance between him and Fiona.

"This is Fiona Marcus, my girlfriend. Take her to my room upstairs. Patrick would be here any moment. Tell him to take her to my mom's favorite boutique."

Turning to Fiona again, he said, "I'll be back after my meeting. See you later, babe," he said and without warning, pressed his lips against Fiona's, taking her by surprise.
