Chereads / The CEO's Hired Girlfriend / Chapter 5 - I want her

Chapter 5 - I want her

It wasn't until Liam got to the company premises did he remember that Paul had tried calling him, hence the reason he had almost had an accident.

Why had he been calling him then? He mused and decided to save himself the headache and ask Paul since he was there already.

Just as he arrived at his office, and saw that Paul wasn't on his seat, a frown etched his brows. Where could he be? Was his absence in any way related to why he had called him?

Liam reasoned, and without bothering to go into his office, he took out his phone from his trousers, wanting to dial his secretary's line so that he could find out what was wrong.

Before he could succeed in dialing the line, he caught a glimpse of Paul and Derek approaching him with some files, as though they had gone out for a meeting.

"What's going on?" he asked when they got to him.

"Sir, immediately after you left, the foreign investors called to say they needed to head back because they had an emergency and as such would like to bring the meeting forward. I tried calling to tell you about this but you weren't answering," Paul said, and Liam frowned.

"So...."

"So, knowing how that meeting was important to you, I had to step in. They left a few minutes ago," Derek said and Liam smiled, causing him to chuckle as well.

"What would you do without me?" Derek said and Liam shook his head.

"Thanks, man," he said, and Derek waved it off.

"It's nothing. So, how did it go?" he inquired and Liam motioned for them to go into the office.

"Well, she isn't bad. In fact, I want her," Liam said, the moment they stepped into the office.

Derek raised a brow as he took his seat opposite Liam. "You want her as a real girlfriend or as one of your flings?"

"Does it matter? All I know is I want her. She is beautiful, has the most beautiful hair I've seen and most intriguing of all, she doesn't know who I know, just like every other girl I've dated. You need to see the way she spoke to me earlier when I almost hit their car," Liam said, smiling as he reminisced on their meeting.

"Hit their car? How?" Derek asked, and Liam told him everything.

"Wow! I'm sure right now she must be feeling really ashamed. I bet she'd never be comfortable around you," Derek said, and Liam chuckled.

"I wish. She's feisty, Rek," he said, and Derek sighed.

"If she amuses you that much, then I hope you fall in love with this one. That is to say if you're not already on your way there," Derek said, and Liam shook his head.

He wasn't going to talk about love.

"Enough about her. Now, tell me about the meeting with the foreign investors," Liam said and Derek nodded.

After telling him everything they discussed, he stood up to leave. "Paul has all the necessary details of the meeting, in case you want to go through it. And about your P.A., I asked Paul about it and he said there was a lady whose resume stood out but you specifically told him you didn't want any lady," Derek said, and Liam nodded.

"You know why I don't want any more lady working for me," he said and Derek chuckled.

Two secretaries he had worked with had tried seducing him before he had decided to go for men only. He didn't like mixing work with pleasure.

"I know but, you can go through her resume and if you still think you don't want her because she's a lady, then it's not too late to wait for a young man to apply," Derek said, and Liam thought about it momentarily.

"Alright. Tell Paul to bring the file for the meeting and to also bring the lady's resume. Before I forget, Cora is arriving tomorrow," Liam said, and immediately, Derek's eyes lit up.

He walked back further into the office and asked, "She is?" while trying to conceal his excitement.

"Yes. It's been so long. I wonder what she'd look like now," he said, and Derek raised a brow.

"What? Regretting why you lied about having a girlfriend now?" he teased and Liam chuckled.

"Of course not. Even if she's the last woman on earth, I do not want anything romantic with her..."

"Because she's your mom's choice?" Derek cut in.

"I only see her as a younger sister. That's how I'll always see her even if she turns out to be very hot and sexy," Liam said with a wink, and Derek nodded.

"Good for you. I should leave for my office now," Derek said and raised a brow when Liam's phone beeped and he smiled when he looked down at the phone.

"What's that?" he inquired.

"My hired girlfriend seems to be making good use of my money," he said and chuckled when Derek shook his head.

"Aren't you taking too much interest in her?" Derek asked and Liam waved it off.

"You know how it will always end," he said and Derek chuckled before heading out of the office.

Paul walked in with the files a moment later after Derek passed the message to him. Liam watched as he dropped the files on the desk. "These are for the meeting and these are her credentials," Paul said, separating them.

"Alright, you can leave," Liam said and after Paul left, he picked up the file containing the discussions during the meeting.

After going through them, he picked up the other file. The first thing that caught his eye was the name. Fiona Lopez.

She had the same first name as his hired girlfriend. Who knows? They might have some similarities if he employed her, he reasoned, intrigued as he opened the file.

After going through it, Liam had to agree with Derek. Although he was comfortable that he was going to be having a female as his PA, he decided to hire this Fiona and give her a chance.

After all, not everyone is opportune have an encounter with two Fionas in a lifetime.

"Sir, you're going out?" Paul asked the moment Liam stepped out.

"Yes. Cancel and reschedule all my appointments for today and tomorrow. Push them to Monday. I won't be on seat tomorrow," he instructed.

"And put a call across to that Fiona Lopez girl. Have her come for an interview on Monday," Liam added before leaving for the boutique.
