Chapter 33 - 33

The last day of the Hunting session came and as everyone expected my husband was at the top. Followed by Princess Alicia. His Majesty came 4th and so tonight we enjoy the feast for all.

Although it shook me when I heard His Majesty's story but in the end it's all in the past and now my husband is looking at me. But from then on I feel as though me and His Majesty have grown closer like a friend.

The next day we all get ready to leave. After I finished packing I went out to find my husband. We should be leaving in just a few minutes so I wanted to him to check if we missed anything. I finally saw him talking to someone in a study room. The door was opened a bit so I was able to peek in. To my suprise I saw Her Majesty with my husband. They seem to have been talking about something.

"So? Have you been treating her well?" Her majesty asked. I guess they were talking about me. "That's not your concern." My husband replied. I didn't know what to do again should I leave? But my feet won't move and my ears were begging to eavesdrop and I listened. "Oh come on Ceaser didn't I tell you to treat her well? You wouldn't have looked at her if I didn't tell you to." She said. As soon as I heard those words I started hoping, hoping for something from my husband to deny it but I didn't get anything. My husband stayed silent. So it was a lie then. All these times he was just paying attention to me because she told him to. I couldn't help but flee. I ran away not wanting to listen more.

I guess a part of me always knew that it wasn't real. I don't know why but I couldn't stop my tears from falling. I once again wind up in the library and there I let out my cries. I was foolish really, for 6-7 years he hasn't looked at me and I trusted him just because he started paying attention. This is all my fault, I deserved it.

"What's wrong Jessi?" Ceaser asked, lately she has been acting really strange. It felt as if she wasn't the person he used to know.... used to Love.

"Nothing's wrong. Ceaser...." She walked closer to the married man and finally took his hand, " I finally learnt that it was you who saved me from the poison....", she put the man's hand on her cheek and shed a tear. Ceaser stood still but then he stepped back and retracted his hand, " No it's His Majesty, Your Majesty.", he said putting a bit of distance.

"Ceaser I'm sorry... When I knew I... My feelings that I buried deep inside started coming out..." The woman said.

"Stop. We are married now, Your Majesty to someone else and me to another. And that's all. Indeed I was hooked on you for years but I can finally moved on. You should do too."

"No! Why are you calling me that?! I don't want it!..." The Empress took of her crown and threw it on the ground and wept. " Are you going to ignore my feelings now?" She asked.

"Yes, August is a good man he loves you. You were happy before and you can be happy after. You... Have a son." Ceaser said.

"He's a liar! Ceaser he lied to me! He stole me from you!" She replied back.

Not wanting to discuss anymore Ceaser turned around and left, "It's for the best that we put some distance between us Your Majesty." He said before leaving.

The Empress fell to the ground sobbing, "It's all her fault....", She mumbled, " if she didn't marry him...." She said again as the Ceaser closed the door not hearing anything.

"My lady....my lady..." I hear someone call, when I opened my eyes I saw Linda looking all worried, " my lady I thought we lost you for a second we're leaving now let's go..." She said and I followed. My mood was ruined and I didn't feel like seeing my husband anymore.

"Are you ready to go?" He asked as if he didn't just meet up with the one he loves just a few minutes ago. I said nothing and just climbed inside the carriage and took my seat.

"What happened to your eyes? They're red." He asked.

"I Slept"

As the carriage starts moving we bid our goodbyes to Sheshire Halls and on our way back to home.

For the whole way home I couldn't help but think about their conversation. To think I got fooled so easily it was so natural. There was silence between us and I feel as though we're right back where we started again.

I didn't look at him even after we reached home and skipped dinner. And once again I was back to my old dull self.

It was a good day so I went to the bar to check on Jared and Heftan. Along the way I stopped by the housing complex to inspect.

"My lady!" I heard Mary called out to me. I put Mary in charge here because she kept breaking stuffs at the bar. She looked at me with a proud face. Indeed there hasn't been any complaints and the residents have been paying rent as more job opportunities are available now.

"My lady there are few who hasn't paid ever since they got here. It's almost been 4 months." Mary said. Best outcome is to throw them out of course but i don't know their circumstances so I gave them a month of time to find work otherwise I told Mary to throw them out.

I went on to the bar. I see that everything is still the same as usual. There's customers drinking and talking. I saw Heftan greeted me in silence as he tends to a few customers. Behind the bar was Jared cleaning some glasses.

"How's it going?" I asked.

"Oh My Lady it's good. We just got this new wine from the East. It's made with rice. I wanted you to try it first." He said pouring the wine and giving to me.

I took a sip and indeed it has flavour. I don't know how those in the East comes up with these things but their food must've been the best. A strong odour and a strong flavour just like an alcohol should be.

When I reached home I could feel that something was wrong. So I asked about my husband.

"My lady, His Grace went to the palace for an emergency." Heinz said.

An emergency? In the middle of the night?
