As I suspected it was too crowded. I began searching around for my husband as I walked through. The whispers follow me again.
"I heard the Duke loves his wife now." One said, another followed up, "Really? What sorcery did she used?".
"Is she a witch?"
"No a s*ut. She must've used her body."
Why? Why are they all talking about me again? Do they not care that their words might hurt someone? As I walked pass through someone stopped me.
"Duchess Valentine it is an honour to finally see you", a tall man with a moustache called me. If I guess this is Count Dublin. Although I've never met the man I heard about him a few times. "It seems the rumours aren't true. I was shocked when I heard that the Duke Valentine married a hideous monster but Duchess turned out to be such a pretty girl." He said.
I could only laugh and smile. What can I say? I don't know. For a while he kept on talking about is trading business until finally my husband came and I was able to escape. Does he also get comments like this?
We finally came to our Emperor and Empress. As I now and gave them a greeting, I could see the distain on Jesseline's face. I don't know what I did but I'm sure she doesn't like me for some reason. I could only stood aside as the three of them forget my existence. In this huge crowd of people only I seem to be the one standing alone at the corner. My husband seems dazzling surrounded by everyone. He's become even more famous for his help in the war. His generosity to give money to the poor and provide shelter. Everyone loved him even though.... even though I was the one who did that.
As I finally moved towards the table to get a drink Her Majesty was also there. "Ah Duchess Vivian I heard you and your husband have become quite close recently." She said with a smile. It's so beautiful that I couldn't help but be jealous. "Your majesty, thank you." I could only say these words.
"Would mind getting me another drink too?" She asked. She is our Empress I dare not refuse and so I turned to get her another drink but before I could I heard a scream from behind. The scream was loud so everyone nearby heard it. When I turned to see what happened I should the Empress's dress drenched in wine. What happened? I don't know. She was also on the ground.
People started forming a crowd around us and then it begins again, the whispers, "Omg did she just push our Empress?" No I didn't. "She threw wine on our Empress's dress." That's not true I was trying to get her a glass. "She's such a devil." No I'm not. I can't really deny as I froze up and couldn't speak.
"What's going on?" I heard a strong and sturdy voice. Everyone bowed down as this person came, he's the Emperor. I realised what this situation may look like. I tried to speak but he ignored me and went to his wife. "Dear what's the matter?" He asked. Jesseline looked so scared and her eyes were teary as if someone had wronged her and then the most beautiful lie came out of her mouth.
"Sorry... I just asked Duchess Vivian to pass me a glass of wine and the next thing she... she just threw it on me and I fell...." She said. How absurd I wasn't even that close to her. But I knew no one was on my side. " Your Majesty, I don't know what you're saying... I really didn't do anything..." I stuttered due to fear.
And then it happened. My husband came and stood before me. For a moment I thought I had hope, hope that atleast he will listen to me but I was wrong. So wrong. His eyes were no longer the gentle ones that looked at me a few hours ago. He didn't say anything but he turned and apologized on my behalf. No why would you? We didn't do anything wrong.
"Your Majesty! I swear I didn't do anything!..." I yelled. But my own husband cut me off, "Vivian! Stop!". He apologized once again to the Emperor and Empress. "Ceaser i thought your wife became a better person. But why is she still bullying Jesseline even now?" His Majesty said. Now everyone got the impression that I did this before. "We'll be careful." Ceaser said again. He turned to me and in the most hated tone he ordered, "Apologized."
What could I do? Everyone was against me so I did. Jesseline forgave me and left. The party got over very quickly. And i, I was left alone again. My husband ignored me once again. I screwed up, everything was finally starting to get better and why does this happen now. I could only cry in our room. Our room that was supposed to be for both of us. He didn't come at all. From tomorrow the games will begin, i shouldn't have come at all.
I still don't know what I did to upset her majesty, what did I do wrong? Did happen without realisin? Did I accidentally push her or something? I don't know. Why didn't notice one believe me? Why didn't he ask me what happened? Why didn't he listen to me? That night he never came. I waited and waited but in the end I slept alone. I wish I could just die.
