The man although only one or two guards saw his face had a recognisable wound. During his escape the guards actually managed to cut a huge wound on his back so news spread out that people should tell the guards or knights if they found a man with a huge scar on the back.
At first I didn't notice, Jared seemed to be on edge when I came to see him and then he introduced a tall and handsome man as his friend. He seemed to have been looking for work Jared said and so being the kind hearted boy he was, the man was now working as his assistant. I was fine with but still I worry that people might take advantage of his kindness and this turned out exactly to be the case.
They both shared the room upstairs and i thought it was fine as long as Jared was happy until I saw a scar on the man's back. The man, Heftan, was tall, broad and had captivating coral green eyes with dark hair just like mine. Ever seen he started working here, many female customer started coming especially in morning dinner. And at night men praised him for his bartending skills. And poor Jared, Mary seems to be all over Heftan and ignoring him now.
Even i didn't notice it for a month but it was just another day when I came early and went upstairs to meet Jared for something. I wish I hadn't seen it but I did. Heftan was changing into new clothes and i happened to see the huge scar on his back. I didn't go in of course, how can I? I have the man that every knight is looking for, even my husband was trying to catch him. I knew this will end in a disaster.
When I came down Jared greeted me,
"Oh My Lady you're here? Heftan is upstairs. I'll go call him." He said happily. Does he not know we have a criminal in our bar? I stopped him and took him in my office.
"Jared, did you know?" I asked.
"Know what? My Lady i don't understand." He answered. This boy i might just kill him myself.
"Jared, Every knight, every soldier is looking for Heftan right now. Even my husband. That man has a bounty on his head!" He raised my voice a bit.
Ah finally I saw his reaction, so he did know but why didn't he tell me.
"My- My Lady, he's... A good person..." He said.
"Jared! That man tried to kill our Emperor!"
"I know my lady but I believe he has changed. He helped me before and saved my life."
"What!?" This was unbelievable. This boy is defending a criminal.
And then.... And then I noticed, that look.... How can I not know that look? It's a look of love for someone. One which I've had all my life to my husband. Jared, my boy was in love with a man. Why? I don't know how can a man love another man? But I didn't care, if it were any other man i would've approved but Jared, he's a criminal.
"You love him..... Don't you?"
Jared looked very scared. So it was true. He quietly nodded his head.
"Jared i don't mind that you love a man.... But I can't let you be with a criminal." I said. Even i suprised myself as I came out a bit dominating but it's for the best.
The room felt silent until Heftan came in with a knock. "The Diner is ready to open boss." He announced.
Both of us looked towards the door, Jared looked like he was about to cry when he saw the man standing opening the door. I wished i hadn't i really did but the way the man looked when he saw Jared starting to cry i knew their feelings were mutual.
A look of worry, confused and then anger directed towards me. Jared ran away leaving us be. Heftan looked at me with a glare. I know this glare I've seen it my whole life. How ironic that I get to see this from a man who's not my husband.
