Did Itachi hint at something I'm missing? Sasuke's planning to attack the Hidden Leaf Village!
Sasuke only went to Orochimaru to gain power. Once he felt he had achieved his goal, he defeated Orochimaru and set out to face Itachi, his main motivation for getting stronger.
He even managed to defeat Itachi... But I can't understand why he would want to attack or oppose the Hidden Leaf Village!
I sat in the dining room, lost in thought after returning from the last mission, with the crow given by Itachi right in front of me.
What does this crow have to do with everything? Could it be connected to the situation somehow...?
As I pondered these thoughts, a sudden knock echoed at my apartment door.
Who could it be at this hour? I quickly sealed the crow away just like before. Standing up, I made my way to the door and opened it. "Kakashi-sensei!"
"Naruto, Lady Fifth has summoned you. We need to go!" Kakashi-sensei replied.
"Alright! Let's head out," I responded, stepping outside still in my casual clothes.
When we got to the Hokage's office, I saw Gamabunta and Gamakichi standing outside. I waved at them and said, "Hey, you two!"
"Hey, Naruto," Gamakichi replied.
I was curious and asked, "So, did something happen? Why are you both here?"
Gamakichi started to explain, "Well, actually..."
But Gamabunta interrupted, "Gamakichi, be quiet. Let the boss and Tsunade handle it. They know what they're doing."
I found it a bit strange and said, "Weird..."
Kakashi-sensei then spoke up, saying, "let's go! Naruto," I followed him as we walked into the Hokage's office.
As I got closer to the Hokage's office, I could feel the tension in the air. It felt like something really serious had happened. Even the way Kakashi-sensei spoke was different from usual, and Gamabunta and Gamakichi seemed off too.
Kakashi-sensei knocked on the door and went inside. But for some reason, I froze. It was like I already knew that whatever news awaited us wasn't going to be good.
"Naruto, come in!" Kakashi-sensei called out, noticing I was hesitating outside the door. I nodded and stepped inside.
Once inside, I saw Sakura and Sai standing there. Granny Tsunade was in her usual chair, with Shizune standing beside her.
Then, I noticed some toads on the left side of Granny Tsunade, across from the desk. They were looking right at me as I moved to stand next to Kakashi-sensei.
"So, this is Jiraiya boy's student, is it?" the toad in the middle spoke up.
"Yes, this is Naruto Uzumaki, the child of prophecy you mentioned," Granny Tsunade replied.
I hesitated for a moment, recalling the description Pervy Sage had given me about learning Sage Mode and who taught him. "Wait... Are you...?" I started, piecing it all together. "You're the Toad Sage, right?" I asked.
"Yes, you're correct!" the toad confirmed.
"He's one of the two great sages of Mount Myōboku, Lord Fukasaku," Granny Tsunade explained. "He traveled all the way here just to speak with you," she added.
"I'm grateful, then," I replied.
"Well, never mind that. It doesn't matter. Answer me this: are you really Jiraiya boy's student or not?" he asked.
"I am. Pervy Sage is my master—I mean, Jiraiya-sensei," I corrected myself.
Suddenly, Lord Fukasaku, the Toad Sage, burst into laughter. "So, you call him the Pervy Sage!? I've never heard a more fitting name for Jiraiya boy," he said.
"I mean..." I felt a bit embarrassed. "Wait... I forgot you came to talk to me about something. Well, I'm here. What's it?" I asked, turning a bit more serious.
"I'm not exactly sure where to begin this, but let me see..." he said, pausing for a moment. "I suppose the most important thing is..." He looked down again, taking more time, and my tension grew more and more. "I'm afraid Jiraiya boy has died in battle," he finally said.
Suddenly, it felt like a mountain of emotions started to surround me, and I didn't know what to say or do. My hand started trembling, and I took two steps back.
"I know that this is very sudden, so I understand if you don't believe me," Lord Fukasaku continued, seeing my silence. "For some time now, rumors have been circulating that the leader of the Akatsuki was operating in the village hidden in the rain, so Jiraiya boy went there in person to verify whether these rumors were true or not."
"The leader of the Akatsuki was in the Hidden Rain Village!?" Sakura exclaimed.
"As I recall, that village is difficult to infiltrate. It's completely closed off from the outside world," Sai added.
"Yes, but Master Jiraiya was exceptionally skilled in infiltration and espionage tactics," Kakashi-sensei noted.
"Yes, exactly," Lord Fukasaku confirmed. "Jiraiya boy encountered Pain, the leader of the Akatsuki. However, Pain was a former student of Jiraiya boy's from many, many years ago," he explained.
"He was a student? What do you mean by that?" Sakura questioned.
"I don't know all the particulars, but Jiraiya boy called him Nagato," Lord Fukasaku said.
"That takes us back to the chaos of the Great Ninja War," Granny Tsunade began, her voice tinged with disappointment. "The Hidden Rain Village had become a battlefield, and Jiraiya took some war orphans under his wing. Who would have imagined those kids..." She paused, her words hanging heavily in the air.
"But to defeat a shinobi as powerful as Jiraiya, how did this Pain accomplish such a feat?" Kakashi-sensei exclaimed.
"It was because Pain possesses the Rinnegan," Lord Fukasaku answered, as disbelief spread across Kakashi-sensei's face.
"What did you say!?" he exclaimed, and everyone in the room looked shocked.
"Rinnegan!?" Sakura questioned, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Yes, it's an ocular jutsu, said to have been possessed by the father of all shinobi—the Sage of the Six Paths. But I believed it was nothing more than a legend, but..." Shizune explained, trailing off as the gravity of the situation settled in.
"Yes, it's a special eye power called the Rinnegan. They say its strength is beyond anything you can imagine," Lord Fukasaku explained. "But that's not all—there were six people who had these Rinnegan eyes."
"There were six of them with the Rinnegan?! How is that even possible?!" Kakashi-sensei exclaimed in shock.
"I'm not sure, maybe there's some trick to it," Lord Fukasaku replied. "I think Jiraiya found out the secret of those six during a fierce battle. But..." He paused, his voice heavy with sadness, "Even when he was overwhelmed by pain and knew the end was coming, Jiraiya left a message before he collapsed."
Lord Fukasaku took off his cloak and turned around, revealing markings on his back. "This is the message," he said.
"It's a code," Shizune remarked
