Chapter 1 - Too Real to be a Dream

He walked through the hallway, lost in thought. As he headed to his destination, he held a basket full of clean and neatly arranged laundry.

Haha…how many days has it been now?" I said as I walked through the long hallway, which seemed like its end did not exist. The young master I was told to cater for had locked himself up in his room and refused to be attended to. What could I possibly do?

After an hour, he finally arrived at the enormous brown door before him. He inhaled and exhaled as he wiped the sweat off his freckled-covered face with his sleeve.

"Young master, are you awake? I have brought some clean garments for you to wear. Should I come in so that I can arrange them for you?"

NO ANSWER

Y..young master?

And there it was, an almost inaudible voice that seemed to have just not gotten enough rest sounded out.

"Leave it at the door and go," said Young master.

Why was I given such a master? There were countless rumours about going around the city, but I had never really met him. I had no accurate impression; well, I knew he was weird, for one. But what everyone knows him as is Weak.

Lay down, sleep, wake up and still be here. Lay down, sleep, wake up and still be here. Lay down and ha... This same routine had repeated itself for days now. Days!

" I have been here for days now? It has been seven days. This all was starting to look real to me.

I rolled over a few times, Hah! I was reminded how impossible it was to roll over that many times on my bed. But here I was.

Thud!

I stared up at the ceiling that was now farther away from me. I had arrived at the floor with a loud thud. But that was just a little trouble compared to the situation that I was in right now.

The ceiling is cream with a glint to it. The room was bigger than my house, put together twice. And even though I had stopped all the servants from entering and tidying up the room. It still somehow looked spotless, like it wasn't as old as it was written to be.

" Okay, time is ticking," I said as I pushed myself off the ground and headed for the mirror; a big glass mounted right at the other end of the big room. "

I stared at myself; he stared back; I moved his hair out of my vision to get a better look.

Hair was long enough to cover the eyes, with a unique colour and texture of green and cream. The eyes are very dark green like an emerald. A unique colour that only the Duke family held. Oh, did I forget to say that?

" Yep, I was part of the Duke family. One away from the King. I should have been ecstatic. I should have been."

"If only I weren't this guy. "

Nathaniel Gentry

' I was just celebrating after finishing my first novel; it was a dream come true. I just had to post it. And I could have shown everyone who knew nothing about me and my work. I could have fulfilled my lifelong dreams.'

I could have made money!

" I wonder what today was. Had the plot started, or was it before? This guy doesn't look that old, so he should still be in school. The most important thing was, what year was he in right now? "

I headed towards my desk and rang the bell. I then waited.

" Young Master Nathaniel, You called? "

He was this guy's servant, the only one. He went by the name Paul.

It took him 15 minutes to come here. And his expression told me he found no wrong in his actions.

Could you get me some clothing to change to?

" Yes, I will go get your clothes right away."

' I guess he still acts like he respects this guy. '

After Paul walked out, I returned to the mirror and looked at this guy. I could only let out a sigh. This guy was the definition of skinny. How could you even look this way when you came from such an extreme family? I wondered, but the real question is, why did I make him this way?

I walked back to my bed and slid into my comfy and high-end duvet, something I couldn't afford and didn't buy.

Young Master, this is a set of freshly bought clothes from your most-adored bouquet.

What? All I asked him to get was clean clothing. Why did he get me something that looked so expensive? It's not like I'm a rich man, oh wait.

Right, thank you. You can leave now.

Your master, do you not require assistance to get ready?

I had forgotten in these times, and in this kind of family, he needed assistance getting prepared.

No, I do not go. You can go.

Alright, young master Nathaniel, I will take my leave.

As I walked out of the room, only one thing crossed my mind: He was different from the rumours.

I tucked myself into bed once more as I stared at the new clothes I had just received, green, dark green delicate lace and materials smartly decorated with juries. The size is a bit small for me but just right for this guy

I knew I had to take action quickly, but everything still seemed unbelievable, so I once again went deep into sleep. Maybe I would return home or perhaps this was all a dream at the end of the day.

At the end of the day, I spent the whole night finishing my novel. Maybe feeling like I was stuck in the novel I just finished writing was the consequence of the all-nighters I had been doing.

"Let's just sleep for now…" I said

As I started counting sheep, trying to force myself into a deep slumber.

One … Two … Three … Four … Five … Six … Seven … Eight … Nine … Ten … Ele…
