"Don't wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great."
- Orison Swett Marden

After dispatching Samuel Seo and his elite guards, the Fourth Affiliate's headquarters was a scene of devastation. The ground was littered with fallen fighters, and the few remaining guards lay groaning in pain. Vasco, Jay, and Warren stood at the center, their breaths steady despite the chaos surrounding them. The Burn Knuckles were gathered nearby, their victorious cheers echoing off the walls.
"That was easier than I thought," Warren remarked, glancing down at Samuel's unconscious form. His tone held a mix of surprise and disappointment.
Jay, typically stoic, allowed a hint of surprise to show on his face. "The Workers' reputation is overrated. I thought they'd put up more of a fight."
Vasco shook his head, laughing in disbelief. "If this is what passes for 'elite,' we've been giving the Workers too much credit." He reached for his phone, dialing Daniel's number. As the line connected, Daniel's voice came through clearly despite faint background noises that suggested it was beginning to rain.
"Daniel, it's done. The Fourth Affiliate is finished," Vasco reported, his tone confident. "But I've gotta ask, why were they so weak? Is this really the Workers' best?"
Daniel's laughter echoed over the phone. "The Fourth and Third Affiliates? They're just fodder. I sent you there first for a warm-up," he chuckled. "From the Second Affiliate upwards, you'll start finding the real challenges."
The reality of Daniel's words sank in for Squad A. If these were the lower-tier affiliates, then the battles ahead were going to be on an entirely different level. But Vasco felt more exhilarated than anything. Stronger opponents would only make things more interesting.
"Got it," Vasco replied, grinning. "We'll be ready for whatever comes next." He hung up and turned to Jay and Warren, who were exchanging thoughtful glances.
"So this was just the warm-up, huh?" Warren cracked his knuckles, a smirk on his lips. "Well, let's see what the other affiliates have to offer."
The Burn Knuckles erupted into cheers, bolstered by the ease of their victory. Vasco led the group away from the demolished headquarters, ready to regroup with the rest of the Allied Crew.
....
Meanwhile, across the city, Daniel ended the call and pocketed his phone. The sky was still clear, but a light drizzle began to fall, hinting at the approaching storm. The cool drops hit his face as he glanced upwards, and the quiet pitter-patter of rain accompanied his footsteps.
Eli Jang walked beside him, silent and focused as they approached the Third Affiliate's headquarters. The compound was notorious for its involvement in drug distribution, an operation controlled by Vivi and backed by her personal enforcer, Xiao Long. But Daniel and Eli were unfazed, viewing this as just another target.
"Let's wrap this up quickly," Daniel said, keeping his hands in his pockets. "We've got bigger things to take care of."
Eli didn't reply, but his expression hardened as he twirled his batons. They were both prepared for this. After months of relentless training, they knew they had what it took to crush any opposition.
As they drew closer to the compound, a group of thugs emerged from the shadows, grinning confidently. There were about a dozen of them, each bigger and meaner than the last. Daniel didn't even bother to look at them as he continued walking.
"You think you can just walk in here?" one of the thugs snarled, taking a step forward. "This is Third Affiliate territory!"
Daniel finally turned his gaze toward the thug, his voice calm and indifferent. "Then stop us."
The thug, fueled by anger, lunged at Daniel, fist aimed for his head. But before he could get close, Daniel's leg whipped out in a Taekwondo roundhouse kick, connecting with the thug's temple. The man crumpled to the ground, out cold.
The remaining thugs rushed in, yelling battle cries, but their bravado quickly faded as Daniel moved with fluid grace, his hands still in his pockets. He unleashed a series of kicks, each one perfectly timed and placed, sending the attackers sprawling.
Eli moved simultaneously, a whirlwind of batons and ruthless efficiency. His strikes were swift and brutal, disarming and incapacitating each thug with a few blows. One man tried to stab him with a knife, but Eli sidestepped and smashed the baton into the attacker's wrist, then followed up with a swift strike to the head.
It didn't take long for the surviving thugs to realize they were outmatched. They dropped their weapons and fled, leaving Daniel and Eli standing alone at the entrance.
"This is what Samuel left to guard his drug ring?" Eli scoffed, twirling his batons. "Pathetic."
"Like I told Vasco," Daniel replied, "the real strength starts higher up. But we still need to take out Vivi and dismantle this operation."
As they stepped inside, bypassing the bars and tearing through a wall to reveal the hidden drug lab, they found themselves in a large room filled with crates and machinery. The air was thick with the stench of sweat and chemicals, and a group of guards stood ready. These men were different, more disciplined, dressed in combat gear, and clearly more experienced.
A guard stepped forward, brandishing a crowbar. "This place is protected by the Workers. You're not getting out alive."
Daniel's smirk widened. "Protected? Cute." He nodded to Eli. "Let's take care of this."
The guards rushed in, weapons swinging. Daniel met them head-on, dodging attacks while unleashing powerful kicks. One guard aimed for his head, but Daniel ducked under the swing and countered with a spinning back kick, sending the man crashing into a stack of crates.
Eli took on two guards simultaneously, wielding his batons like extensions of his own body. He sidestepped a pipe swing, then broke his attacker's knee with a sharp blow before grabbing the other man and slamming him into the ground.
The fight was over within minutes. The guards lay scattered across the floor, groaning in pain or unconscious. Daniel dusted off his hands and looked at Eli. "Vivi should be just ahead. Let's end this."
As they made their way down a dimly lit corridor, the atmosphere grew more tense. The final door opened to reveal Vivi standing at the center of a spacious room filled with more crates and machinery. Her eyes glared with defiance as she stood surrounded by the last line of defense.
"So, you're the ones causing all this trouble?" Vivi spat, folding her arms. "Daniel Park and Eli Jang, the Allied Crew's lapdogs. I've heard of you, but you won't leave here alive."
Daniel's smirk didn't falter. "You can try, but it won't end well for you."
Before Vivi could respond, a large figure stepped forward from behind her. It was Xiao Long, her personal bodyguard, with a folded gundao strapped to his back. He stepped between Vivi and the two intruders, his gaze unwavering.
"If you want to get to her," Xiao Long said in a deep, steady voice, "you'll have to go through me."
Eli's eyes narrowed, and his grip on his batons tightened. "We've already taken down the supposed 'elite' of the Workers. You really think you can stop us?"
Xiao Long didn't react, his stance firm and composed. "I'm not here to stop you," he said calmly. "I'm here to end you."
The air grew thick with anticipation as Daniel and Eli prepared for the confrontation. Xiao Long's reputation wasn't to be taken lightly, and his presence made it clear that Vivi wasn't going to be an easy target.
Daniel's gaze shifted to the gundao on Xiao Long's back, his smirk widening as he prepared to face one of the Workers' most formidable defenders.
