"Fine," Josephine conceded when she realised that she would not get anywhere with her daughter being like this.
She was frustrated, and she was also proud. Adela was finally stepping into her power. All the hard work Josephine had put into the girl had not gone in vain.
"Keep your secrets, but I will find out either way," she said as she paced away from her daughter.
Adela nodded at her mother's back. She was not a little girl who needed to run to mummy every time things got difficult. Considering who the person she'd have to run to was, it would do her no good to do so. She would be told how incompetent she was before she was thrown back to the wolves. It was better she jumped in herself.
