Chapter 59 - Olivia's Talk With Kylie

Eleanor chuckled at David and then faced Ethan, saying, "Ethan, stop scaring him. Do you have any idea where Zara is right now?" Ethan glanced at his grandma and replied, "I'm not sure, Grandma. I was planning to ask Uncle Andrew or Aunt Kylie about it."

"Alright, then. It's getting late, why don't you rest for a bit and inquire in the evening," Eleanor suggested with a gentle smile. "Oh, and Butler Beau, please have the kitchen prepare some of Ethan's favorite dishes." "Of course, Madam," Beau acknowledged before heading back into the mansion.

Ethan gave a nod and asked David to fetch the crucial documents that required signing. Without wasting any time, David swiftly retrieved the files from the Golrid branch office and placed them in front of Ethan.

In the Mayledge Mansion, once Andrew had been comforted and the family had breakfast, they refrained from discussing the incident or the unexpected early arrival of the two guests.

After lunch, as everyone resumed their tasks, Kylie and her husband were in the study on the second floor. Olivia decided to join Kylie for a chat in the study.

As she arrived at the study, she gently tapped on the door and called out, "Hey Mom, it's me." "Come on in, Olivia."

Olivia pushed open the door and stepped inside, spotting her mom seated on the couch engrossed in some papers, while Andrew was diligently working at his desk.

Catching Olivia's eye, Kylie flashed a warm smile and gestured for her to take a seat. Olivia glanced at her mom before shifting her gaze to Andrew, who seemed completely absorbed in his tasks. With a faint smile, she turned back to Kylie and said, "Mom, I need to talk to you."

Noticing the unease on Olivia's face, Kylie understood the strained dynamic between Andrew and her daughter. She rose from her seat and turned towards Andrew, saying, "Sweetheart, I'll be right back."

Kylie turned and held Olivia's hand as they both went out and sat in the living room on the second floor. As they sat down, Kylie looked at Olivia and asked, "Are you okay, Olivia? Do you need to talk about something?"

Olivia glanced at Kylie and replied softly, "I'm fine, Mom. It's nothing." But there was a hint of sadness in her eyes, hidden beneath her pinkish white dress.

Concerned, Kylie asked, "What's wrong, Olivia? If something is bothering you, you can always share it with me." Olivia hesitated, biting her lips as if struggling to speak. "It's alright, Olivia. You can tell me," Kylie reassured, placing her hand on Olivia's shoulder.

Olivia glanced at Kylie and whispered, "Mom, did I mess up?" Kylie gazed at Olivia and inquired gently, "What makes you think that, Olivia?"

Olivia lowered her head, pretending to cry, and hesitantly asked, "Mom, did I... upset my sister?" Kylie furrowed her brows and questioned, "Are you referring to Lia?"

Olivia nodded slightly, wiping away an imaginary tear, while keeping her head down. Kylie chuckled, gave her a comforting pat on the back, and inquired, "Why do you feel that way, Olivia?"

Olivia sniffled as she poured out her heart, "It's just that... my sister hasn't even bothered to give me a proper glance, let alone have a conversation with me." She sighed, her voice trembling. "And whenever I've tried to talk to her, she just nods and walks away." Olivia's gaze dropped as she spoke.

Kylie turned her attention towards Olivia, gently placing her hand on her head. "Olivia, it's simply because you don't know her well enough," she reassured. Confused, Olivia looked up at Kylie and asked, "Huh?"

With a warm smile, Kylie explained, "Since she was a child, she's never been one to easily engage in conversation. Even back then, she preferred staying indoors rather than attending any social events. She tends to give casual responses and avoids getting into deep conversations with others."

Olivia pondered for a moment before speaking up, "Mom, Sister always talks nicely with you." Kylie grinned and replied, "That's because she grew up with us and got used to our company."

"But it's different when it comes to you, isn't it?" Kylie gently held Olivia's hand as she asked. Olivia smiled, deep in thought, and replied, "Yes, Mom. It's been a while since Sister returned. It's only natural for her to need some time to adjust here."

Kylie's smile widened as she reassured Olivia, "Don't worry about it, Olivia. Just relax and enjoy." "Okay, Mom," Olivia responded with a smile. Suddenly, as if remembering something, she looked at Kylie and asked, "Mom, there's something I've been wanting to ask. I've been worried about Sister, so I wanted to know."

Kylie glanced at Olivia and said, "Hey Olivia, I can see how much Lia means to you." Olivia beamed and inquired, "Mom, do you know where sister will be attending college? I really want to spend more time with her, so if I go to the same college, it will bring us closer, right?"

Kylie smiled warmly and replied, "That's very sweet of you, Olivia. But remember, you should choose a college based on your own interests, not just because Lia is going there. Understand?"

Olivia nodded with a smile and said, "Got it, Mom. I just hope I can be with sister." Kylie looked at her with a smile tinged with a hint of regret in her voice, "You have big plans, huh? I'm afraid I have to disappoint you on this one."

Olivia was taken aback when she heard this, because she believed that no matter where Zara got accepted in this country, Olivia had a plan to send her out of the country.

However, if Zara decided to study abroad again, there was nothing Olivia could do, and Olivia didn't need to do anything because that's what she wanted.

But even if Zara did go abroad, it wouldn't be difficult for her. So, Olivia couldn't understand why her mom said she would have to disappoint her.

Confused, Olivia asked, "Why are you saying that, Mom?" Kylie looked at Olivia and replied, "Don't think that we won't allow you to study with Lia. It's just that she has already finished college."

Olivia was completely shocked by Kylie's words. It never crossed her mind that Zara would have finished college at such a young age, even in her wildest dreams.

However, Olivia managed to compose herself and put on a fake smile as she asked, "Mom... did you just say that sister has already completed college?" Kylie, with a smile on her face, replied calmly, "Yes, Olivia. She's already done with it. That's why she's always cooped up at home, working."

Olivia picked up on something in Kylie's statement and asked, puzzled, "She's working?" "Yes, Olivia. That's why she rarely leaves her room."

Olivia glanced at Kylie and replied, "Alright, Mom. My sister is really smart, I should take notes from her. It's a shame I can't have fun in college with her." "Don't worry, Olivia. You'll have plenty of time together at home," Kylie reassured with a smile.

"Mom, you should go. Dad must be waiting. I still have some studying to do, so I'll go back to my room," Olivia said, smiling, though her hands were clenched in frustration.
