Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- victim

Alexander's POV

A red Maserati swiftly entered the courtyard, causing the two lazy German Shepherds at the gate to suddenly jump up, excitedly fixating on their master who appeared before them. "Woof, woof, woof..."

The man, clad in a dark-toned casual suit, with the collar's two buttons undone, revealing a honey-toned complexion, looked at Daniel Duncan with calm eyes, concealing endless rage beneath the tranquility. He inquired, "Who just came? Morris Diaz?"

Daniel Duncan glanced at himself, feeling a bit startled, suppressing the turmoil within him, nodded calmly, and replied, "He brought his daughter over..."

I sneered, "He wouldn't happen to be thinking of using his daughter as leverage to get you to help him, would he?"

"You're only half right," Daniel Duncan said cryptically.

"It seems the rumors are true after all, Morris Diaz is indeed very fond of his only daughter." I smirked ambiguously and strode into the living room.

Sitting at the dining table, I heard footsteps and quickly turned my head, just a glance, and I could see the girl standing at the stairwell. Furrowing my brow involuntarily, a trace of sinister gleam flashed across my eyes, a playful smirk curled my lips.

She was Morris Diaz's daughter! Quite audacious, daring to come here on her own accord.

The moment our eyes met, Mechelle Diaz quickly lowered her head, her heart pounding fiercely in her chest. If she had known that the alpha of the Duncan family was the man she saw last night, she wouldn't have come here even if she were threatened with death.

Daniel Duncan, oblivious to the discord between Mechelle Diaz and me, stood up with a cheerful smile to introduce them.

"Mechelle, this is Alexander Duncan..."

His words were coldly interrupted by me before he could finish. In my eyes, Mechelle Diaz, just like Ivanka Diaz, was a woman who sold her looks for money. "No need for introductions, I know her."

I curled my lips, a trace of sinister smirk slowly spreading, that smile was like the death flower - Manjusha Hua blooming by the roadside to the underworld.

Mechelle Diaz kept her head down and quietly took her seat. She didn't like it here at all; an invisible oppression made her uncomfortable, as if there were burning eyes staring at her relentlessly.

Taking a deep breath, she knew she could evade momentarily, but not for these few days. I would surely find an opportunity to retaliate against her. She thought carefully and said cautiously, "Elder Daniel, the alpha is right, we've met before."

"Since you've known each other for a while, let's get along well in the future!" Daniel Duncan still wore a face of benevolent smile, showing no signs of suspicion.

I lifted my head, expressionless, glanced at her, then lowered my head to eat.

As I raised my eyes, they met a pair of deep eyes, as profound as the surging sea in the dark night, deep, restrained, and suppressed. Mechelle quickly lowered her head, her fingers trembling slightly, the fork almost falling to the ground.

"Mechelle, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Daniel Duncan asked with concern.

"No, I'm fine," Mechelle concealed the panic in her eyes, forcing herself to calm down.

I slowly curled my lips, a hint of coldness flashed in my eyes, asking with a smirk, "Mechelle Diaz, is there something you're not used to?"

"No," Mechelle Diaz quickly shook her head like a tambourine.

"Good then." My low voice was like a sharp blade, cutting a wound on her skin, dripping with blood.

Hastily finishing the meal, Mechelle dared not linger at the table for another moment. "I'm done, take your time."

With that said, she hurried towards her room upstairs.

A mocking smirk played on my lips as I glanced at the petite figure disappearing quickly around the corner of the staircase, then turned back, giving Daniel Duncan a meaningful look, saying, "What's Morris Diaz's purpose in sending her here? Does he think you can protect his daughter?"

"Now that their pack crisis is irreparable, Morris Diaz has only one way out - suicide. Alexander, you're very smart; you should have known what I've done already!" Daniel Duncan said.

"That's right, I figured it out long ago. Besides you, who else could lure Rouge into Black Valley Pack and destroy a small pack to this extent?" I sneered.

"Hmph, he deserves to have this day." Daniel snorted coldly, completely devoid of the previous humility and friendliness he showed in front of Morris Diaz. His old eyes were filled with resentment and anger.

Daniel Duncan seemed to recall something, warning me, "You better not have any ideas about her. After Morris Diaz dies, she'll be your and Louis's stepmother."

My pupils contracted sharply, and I asked in a deep voice, "You're going to marry her?"

"That's right." Daniel Duncan's dominant side was revealed without reservation, and he didn't bother to explain to his own son.

Mechelle, Mechelle, this child looks so much like Sophia, it's like they were carved from the same mold.

Stepmother?

The chilling smirk on my lips became even more terrifying. I glanced lightly at Daniel Duncan and said, "You're attracted to such a woman?"

Daniel Duncan didn't understand my meaning; he only thought I was mocking him. He snorted coldly, saying, "You don't need to worry about that. Just remember not to touch her, or else don't blame me for turning against you."

"Don't worry, even if such a woman were given to me, I wouldn't want her." I casually chuckled, a fleeting coldness flashing in my icy eyes.

I couldn't resist probing further, my curiosity piqued by Daniel's resolve. "What does Morris Diaz's death have to do with your marriage plans?"

Daniel's gaze turned steely, his tone unyielding. "Morris's demise marks the culmination of our strategic alliance. "

A flicker of disgust crossed my features, but I masked it with indifference. "You're willing to sacrifice your happiness for power?"

Daniel's jaw tightened, a silent acknowledgment of the sacrifices demanded by his ambitions. "In our world, sentimentality is a luxury we cannot afford."
