Chapter 2 - Athena Will You Hurry Up ?!

"Yuko !"

A shout loud enough to break glass had echoed through the office, yet the girl named Yuko stayed snoring on her desk. Face flat on it.

"This woman... "

Suddenly, a slap echoed in the room. The woman waking up with a shout and holding the back of her head. whining from the pain as she looked back.. to see her boss standing in front of her.

"AH!.. ahh,, Hi."

She whispered as she took her hands down from her head and gave a small bow. It was no use though. The lecturing began. A voice so loud from this man was basically publicly shaming her. Constant shouting, her sleeping at work, not finishing her work on time, not doing what she's told. The list kept going and going.

Half of the work I do isn't even mine to begin with.

She thought to herself, a scowl on her face appearing. This didn't go unnoticed though, this face only brought more anger from her boss, causing more shouting and verbal abuse. How much more must she accept.

.

.

Was living like this really worth it? Why was she working so hard? She's lost connection to her family, lived paycheck to paycheck, and was as much of a loner as everyone else in this office building. She was just living just because.. because.. because what? She wasn't happy, she didn't go on trips, she didn't even do anything on her free time since her free time was only 5 hours in a day. She uses that 5 hours to sleep. Was there really, anything else to go forward too?

She had no one in this world.

No control either.

"I think I'll just leave."

The shouting stopped as surprise took over her boss' face.

"l-leave? What are you talking about?! God can't even take criticism! I'll give you a chance to apologize now!"

She didn't care. She's reached her conclusion.

She stood up, leaving everything at her desk and headed out of the building. She just wanted to go home now.

As she walked, more thoughts filled her mind. She's probably fired now. Trying to find a new job in Japan isn't easy,, They'd see I just walked out and that would be an immediate red flag for their minds. What do I do.. What do I do..

"What do I.."

.

A hand, a soft and warm hand was placed on her back. The world around her seemed to go quiet as her only focus was a voice that had rung in her mind. So heavenly and soothing. It spoke,,

"A new chance perhaps?"

The same hand pushed her forward, causing the woman to stumble a few steps forward and...

SCREECHHH

A tire screech had now replaced the voice. She looked to the direction of the sound only to be met w the side of a car sliding fast towards her. There was no moment to move, no moment to breath, just an instant,, death.

.

.

.

Opening her eyes, all she saw was, a room. A simple white room with a large window on her side and a white couch with a smaller couch in front of it. The room looked like it had no corner, like it was a huge void yet there was a window. That meant it was a room right?..

"hello there young one."

She was caught of guard by the same angelic voice. She turned to the side to see a beautiful man. Enormously tall, long blonde hair striding down his back, following behind him like a veil. She had fear yet felt awe looking at this.. being.

"From the many around you, you had the most despair within you. I thought I'd pick you this time."

The words seem to echo within the woman's mind, yet she was confused within the situation and it seemed the being could feel the questions pouring into her mind.

"I've simply saved you from that horrible life of yours. In exchange, I'd like your help with something."

She looked at him in confusion as the man continued to explain.

"A world I've created, I've developed a high liking on one family. Royals they call themselves due to me, but I've promised to care for them."

He sighed as his body began to shrank, just the right height to perfectly lay on the couch within the room.

"They're not doing a great job taking care of the world I've created, they're worst than the other nations. Do me a favour and well, set it right. Though I can't interfere too much. God rules, including your god of that old world. I couldn't do this without taking a soul outside of worlds I've made. The souls would simply recycle and forget all I've told them. Oh rules of being a god, you'd think there wouldn't be any for beings like us!"

His body began to shrink again. The woman just stared in shock, trying to comprehend everything being pushed into her mind. Yet the man,, well now looking like a very blonde boy,, didn't give her a moment to think or consider what was happening. Simply clapped his hands and grinned.

"I wish you luck! I simply gave you a new chance at life! Do what you must or what you'd like, I'll see you again soon. I hope you don't run away from what I've asked.. or I can simply bring you back to before. Bye !"

SNAP

All the sudden, it was like the room had a electrical shortage and it was just,, pitch black. She felt her body began to feel light.

"What the... hell.."

Where the only words she could muster after all that was just thrown at her and soon she just.. passed out.

.

.

.

"Na..."

She could hear a voice, but she felt groggy and just, did not want to listen to it.

"thena.."

..

"ATHENA !"

The loud voice boomed in her ear and made her body quickly shoot up. She opened her eyes and looked towards the voice. A old woman wearing a long dress, designed like.. a maid outfit. Like the ones cosplayers would wear, but more conservative it seems.

"Why you young lady!! You've slept in, AGAIN!.. Nag Nag Nag..."

Wow. Deja vu. So much for a new start.

It was like it was her boss yet this time, a woman. The old lady that kept nagging her was short and plum. Her hair was grey and she wore small and stubby glasses. She looked as if she was in her 60's or so. Due to how her boss used to be, she knew how to tune out such harsh words.

While the old lady kept at it, she began to look around. Was this really a different world? Or simply a wild and vivid dream? Her eyes drifted down to herself. She wore a similar outfit to the woman, yet less elegant that hers. Her hand was soft and beautiful even if there were some callus on the inside of her hands. She turned her head to see a mirror, finally seeing a glimpse of the face of this body.

A young woman with soft dark brown hair. long enough to reach her lower back. Her eyes were sharp and she was toned. a complete different look from her old self.

Athena. That must be this woman's name since the old lady was screaming it at me.

She thought as she began to look at her body, trying to observe it the best she can. She wasn't some model level beauty, but her new body was beautiful non the less.

"What are you doing?!"

The woman shouted causing Athena to quickly look at her.

"Oh my we are wasting time! Hurry now!"

She shouted and grabbed her hand and pulled her along.

There's still many things to understand, but for now, she should following along in this new life of hers. As the small woman pulled her out of her room. She was met with the kitchen, where many chefs and maids worked and cooked.

"Hurry now! You may eat later once the food is out to the royal family!"

oh?

The god did put her in a much closer distant that she thought. Hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to change them? Oh what is she talking about. Even if it's the same building, knowing how royals and commoners are in books and stories, this sure won't be easy.

"Oh move woman!"

The lady shouted and pushed her forward. Athena fixed her composure and should do her job, wouldn't want to suddenly be kicked out to the streets not even knowing what this world is like. She quickly grabbed a stroller that held food covered in a silver plate cover and quickly hurried along behind the other maids making their way to the dining hall.

The moment she was out of the kitchen, it was such a sudden change. The walls reach far high, golden borders on each walls and pillars. Large windows showing what seemed to be a garden inside this.. Palace most likely. It was beautiful and eerily scary. How small she felt and the owners of this place was people she needed to change. Oh dear.
