Each one of the World Evolvers were plunged into an unending sleep filled with vivid and unsettling dreams. In their dreams, one which is more appropriately called a Nightmare. They were all tormented by their worst fears, regrets and trapped in an endless cycle of terror.
Well everyone except Khain was going through this. The unconscious Khain had a golden milky barrier coating his entire body. As the terrifying dreams, nightmares and torments undergone by the others didn't affect him...he seemed to be an exception to this dream.
Yet the terrifying torments which ranged from: being eaten alive, having one's body badly mutilated before eventually being killed, seeing one's sister or girlfriend being raped before one, yet one couldn't do anything to stop it. The Nightmare really did well in targeting these weak spots of humans...The world Evolvers screamed, yelled...some even had tears streaming down from their eyes...yet they were still trapped in this endless cycle of torment, regrets and dreadful Nightmare.
And the most ironic twist to this Nightmares is one that is actually quite terrifying...the longer one remained under the influence of the curse, the weaker their grasp on reality becomes, until...until they are eventually consumed by the unending Nightmare.
While it seemed as though an eternity had passed for some...yet only a few minutes had actually passed by. But this only increased...
And it seemed as though no one would wake up as everyone were slowly consumed by the Nightmare.
A gasp suddenly rang out as a figure suddenly stood up. He had a wide grin on his face as he simply stared into the distance after glancing at the body of the possible survivors...
The figure was none other than Zeras.
And he indeed couldn't help but admit...that Nightmare had indeed been quite dreadful. But he had a small yet potentially great advantage. He had gone through it and passed through it before. Hence he was able to break free from the unending cycle of terror and Nightmares...
Though it was easier said than done...as it required one to do either two things. One, make use of one's will to forcefully break through it...one which most of those who would be surviving would all be using...and the second, one which he doubted was for any human...
And that was quite simple yet heaven ascending...it just required one to become used to the various torments, regrets and endless Nightmares. One just had to adapt to it and simply regard it as...Nothing!
But which human could actually do such a thing, perhaps even he couldn't do it. He had only been able to do it as a result of his past experience through the world simulation.
He let out a deep sigh...as he realized just how difficult the path of a World Evolver is...and he knew this was only the beginning. More terrifying things...more dreadful curses would soon be descending upon them.
"May the gods protect us all..." Zeras said his prayers as his eyes immediately opened afterwards.
And immediately afterwards...perhaps seconds, perhaps minutes, perhaps hours...
Some figures slowly started standing up...they slowly rose onto their feet. And most importantly...one thing had changed about them.
One that seemed to be in tandem with that of every other World Evolvers...and it was none other than...increased resolve. Their resolve, determination, and willpower had undergone a greater change.
It wouldn't even be an overestimation to say that, they could easily decapitate their previous self. That was just how terrifying their change is.
And it is indeed well worth it...if those Nightmares couldn't change their way of thinking...if it didn't strengthen their will and resolve to grow stronger.
Then...
'Nothing else...can.'
Yet Zeras simply shook his head...as he knew the fate that would still befall them.
Moments quickly passed by as every surviving World Evolver had successfully woken up. And then...they all waited for a while...for the other World Evolvers based on someone's command; and who else other than...Rosaline.
Time passed by, and if one really observed Zeras. They would see him chuckling from time to time...a wide devilish grin would sometimes surface upon his face.
For he knew this was just a pointless wait.
And he would slowly enjoy it...until the right time when he couldn't any longer.
**************
"Are you really sure they aren't dead. I am thinking we should move...on. We have been waiting for quite a while and I doubt they are really still alive." Finero said after a deep sigh.
"What do you mean by that...so you are trying to say we should abandon them when they had all put their faith in us and believed that we would surely protect them no matter what danger they might face. And now that we can't even help out...you want us to Leave!!!!" Rosaline's voice resounded across the entire area.
It seems as though she didn't give a damn about the possibility of her scream attracting some...dreadful beings!!
Zeras finally moved...he had waited enough.
His legs slowly moved...appearing right before the ten World Evolvers that had succumbed to the unending terror and Nightmares.
A pair of dagger slowly appeared in his hands...and before they even realized what he was doing. His hands rapidly pierced through the ten World Evolvers within some mere seconds.
RIIIPPP!!!!
TEAAARRRR!!!!!
They were all left dumbstruck by his actions...
"What have you done!!!!." Rosaline's voice resounded through the area...loud and clear.
Zeras simply chuckled...his back still against them as he continously picked the first core...the second core...the third core.
Even as Rosaline approached him with a pair of cold daggers in hand...even as the piercing coldness assaulted his back...this didn't seem to be able to stop Nameless' actions.
His hands with great skills and dexterity...easily brought out ten origin cores.
Immediately keeping it into the storage artifact: SAFE OF ANTHERIA.
And immediately afterwards...it suddenly dissapered just like it had appeared.
Except this time around...it had taken ten human origin cores with it.
"What the hell did you just do." Rosaline said for the last time, her dagger already placed on Zeras' neck.
Yet as slight blood dripped down his neck, Zeras had a wide grin on his face as he suddenly spoke.
"Tsk...you want to know why I killed them, don't you?"
He paused for a second before he further added.
"It's actually quite simple...even if you refuse to admit it. Just as Finero had previously said. They are all dead and have fallen prey to the clutches of the Nightmare...therefore they are simply of no use. And I just allowed them to be of some significant purpose...their cores will help in defeating the Creature behind all this. And we can put an end to all this...what do you all think. Isn't it worth killing them for?"
"Bastard!" Rosaline's voice rang out through the entire area.
As she gave him a blinding fast punch.
Baaang!!!
He spat out a mouthful of blood, yet he had a wide grin on his face as he cleaned the blood from his mouth.
He could see the look in her eyes...it simply meant she had given in with his plans.
While she might seem heroic...Zeras knew she was even more...complicated!"
"Alright...shall we get moving..." Zeras said with a wide grin on his face, as various grumbles rang out through the entire area...yet he simply paid no heed to them.
"Haezel...pick up Khain, and let's get moving." Zeras said as he started moving, immediately followed by Haezel who had picked up Khain.
And slowly...Finero and Charlotte also followed...then Rosaline who had a cold look on her face...and with the movement of Rosaline...the other World Evolvers had no other choice but to follow.
And although Nameless actions might seem cruel and ruthless...yet they couldn't all deny one fact.
And that's the fact that...
It is always for the greater good...
