Chapter 11 - Muscava

Great. So if he wanted to avoid going to boot camp, he would have to compete in the 100 meter dash. Great. And while running, his energy level will only last for 100 meters exactly. Great. Not to mention that he would have to use up energy just going to school.

There was no way. No way. He didn't want to run for 100 meters. The energy level didn't even matter. He, on principle, hate, loathe, despise, and abhor doing anything physical that would make him sweat even a small drop.

He hated it.

Usually, he would just take a day off during the Physicality Tests just so that he wouldn't have to participate, but the Professor seemed to know his intentions of skipping it.

Ugh. Boot camp. It was a hellish place reserved for those masochists who loved to destroy their bodies in the most gruesome and horrible way possible. Their warm up was a 10 kilometer jog around a mountain! That was a warm up!

Usually, only students who were failing their classes and those who were punished had to attend boot camp, but some eager beavers who had good grades and behaved good in school voluntarily joined because they 'wanted to challenge themselves'.

So, he would have to live and breathe in a small cabin in bunk beds with those lunatics.

He had to skip it. He would do whatever it took to skip both the Physicality Tests and the Boot Camp.

And just as he thought that, the system booted up and gave him a notification.

[Double Mission]

[Requirements]

• Do not participate in the Physicality Tests

• Avoid Boot Camp

[Rewards]

• 9x Summon Scrolls

• 500 Minion Growth Crystals

• 400 Ether

• 500 Yi Power

• 3000 Credits

As expected of the system, it knew exactly what he wanted to do. He kind of wished that there was a skip button, but he guessed that it was too much to ask for. After all, this wasn't a simple action that can be done in an hour.

The rewards were plentiful, which made sense because the requirements were hard to fulfill.

The one he was most excited about were the 9x summon scrolls. He finally had the chance to summon 10 minions and give them jobs for no money at all and no salary to give them.

Speaking of summons, he still had one.

But just when he thought that was the end of it, the system had another pop-up message. This one was a head-scratcher because it was another missionâ€"a double mission at that.

{Double Mission}

{Requirements}

• Participate in the Physicality Tests

• Join the Boot Camp

{Rewards}

• 18x Summon Scrolls

• 1000 Minion Growth Crystals

• 800 Ether

• 1000 Yi Power

• 6000 Credits

Heh. You sly system. Its real intentions were starting to show. It wanted him to suffer, simple as that. Why else would it want him to do those laborious and back-breaking things with tremendous rewards as incentive?

18x Summon Scrolls?! He could summon 20 minions with those! The probability that he would get at least an A-class minion was high!

It knew how to tempt him with that, but he would not fall for it.

He had enough of waiting. He was putting off summoning another minion for too long. As he sat in his chair, he removed his attention from anything else, including the Professor's lecture and the chattering of his seat mates, and touched the summon button.

Just like before, the whole page was filled with stats that shined with different colors. Red, blue, and yellow stars were the majority, but there were some few secondary colors in there as well. Strangely, those stars who didn't have the primary colors seemed to shine a little brighter than their contemporaries.

[Mission]

[Requirement]

• Summon a minion

[Reward]

• 10 Minion Growth Crystal

And just as he touched the 1x summon button, the stars shot up and formed one big giant white ball of light that was too big for its own good. It started to shake and tremble until a giant explosion filled the dark sky.

The stars from before fell back down to their respective places except for one. It headed straight for Patty, giving him no time to dodge. Since he knew that it would happen, he didn't try to. He welcomed it like a proud parent watching his kid walk towards him.

He might not have been able to dodge the falling star, he did see what color it was. Strangely enough, the star was a tri-color combination of red, blue, and yellow.

The three colors didn't mix together, but they sit tightly in their one-third territory in the star.

Patty felt a warm sensation in his forehead and saw the system screen change as it gave him information about the minion he acquired.

[A-class Muscava Cyclo acquired]

[Description]

• A tiny avian animal that is renowned for its large protruding eyes that can see up to 360 degrees. Using its stature that is smaller than a fingernail, this animal avoids predators using its all-seeing eyes and fast movement from its four wings in its back.

[Application]

• Nervous System

[Mission Completed]

[Reward]

• 10 Minion Growth Crystal

He finally got an A-class minion!

He saw the 8-bit image of the Muscava animal and saw that it had a striking resemblance with a normal housefly. It had the same general shape and color. The only discernible difference was its mesmerizing golden eyes, if you could even call it that. It was just a golden ball that had no irises, no eyelids, or anything that resembled the eyes of a housefly.

The Muscava also had the same tiny legs as the housefly. And as it awaited instructions from him, it rubbed its front legs like a real housefly. He didn't know if he should trust it; it looked like it was planning something real devious.

[Real world immersion failed due to low class]

[Partial immersion achieved!]

Patty was surprised to see that the Muscava could immerse in the real world. If that meant what he thought it meant, then he could summon it here right in front of him.

As exciting as that sounded, he didn't know how safe that sounded. After all, he was surrounded by his seat mates. How would they react if suddenly a large summon circle with golden demonic writings suddenly appeared in the middle of the classroom?

And even if he did want to summon it, he didn't know how. The system said that partial immersion was possible, but it didn't give him any yes or no choice to do it. And unlike the Tendora minion, he couldn't use it for his physique.

[Mission]

[Requirement]

• Send a minion to do a job

[Reward]

• 10 Minion Growth Crystal

Patty touched the CULTIVATION tab of the system and saw the same rectangular box that depicted the D-class Tendora animal continuously working out. Below that box was a row of boxes that had chains wrapped around them, meaning they were still locked.

Suddenly, one locked box at the very bottom of the screen moved up and replaced the box below the Tendora minion. That wasn't all. The lock and chains that wrapped around it suddenly flowed a golden light until it was so bright that it covered up the whole screen.

Once the light faded, Patty saw the chains suddenly disintegrate into floating pieces of ash.

With the lock gone, the darkened box that had the text blurred out suddenly became as clear as day. The text said;

[Nervous System]

[Current Minion Jobs: 0]

[Available Minion Jobs: 0/2]

[Select a minion for the job]

• A-class Muscava Cyclo (Y/N)

Of course, Patty quickly picked the Yes button. What kind of benefits would he get from this minion, he wondered. Knowing that the minion was A-class, he was expecting a better outcome compared to the Tendora minion.

Back then, the Tendora minion was only D-class, which meant that it couldn't manifest itself into reality. It was then sent into the system in a magical place on the top of a snowy mountain.

But the Muscava minion was A-class. And according to the system, it was possible to bring it out in the real world. It didn't have to be stuck in the fictional world of the system like the Tendora. Does that mean that the Muscava would do its job in the real world?

[Minion Selected for a Job!]

[Nervous System]

• A-class Muscava Cyclo

◦ Increased senses and instincts

[Partial real-world immersion completed!]

Patty looked around him,but nothing happened.
