Chapter 6 - Her precious Jena

His phone buzzed again. The fucking third time now! Annoyed, he took it out of his pocket, but this time the message was different. We don't know how to handle this man, Lucien. He keeps insisting that you pay him what's left now. The message read.

Just before he stepped out of the restroom, he recalled his predicament. He couldn't believe that little rainbow had left him here after wetting his shirt. He was definitely going to get back at her in his own style.

So he made a call instead. "Triston."

"Yes, Lucien" the guy on the other end replied. "He's being too persistent, he said he'll call..."

"Get rid of him" Lucien interrupted. "Ensure you move as far away from the hotel as possible. You can't risk getting caught."

He was so close to hanging up when he heard, "But what are you still doing in there? I know I saw her leave" Triston said, matter of factly.

Lucien picked up his shirt from the table. Staring at it, he replied, "She definitely took care of that" and then, ended the call.

'Of course. It's such a beautiful feeling that just lures you in without your permission.' He laughed at the memory.

. . .

As Jena stepped into the gates of her house, she sighed deeply preparing herself for how her grumpy sister was going to react.

Her time at the event started replaying in her mind... more like her time with Lucien. Ever since she left that hotel, she couldn't stop thinking about him, about the way he held her waist that made her insides tingle, about the icy yet alluring tone of his voice that made her chest flutter anytime he spoke, and the way his hypnotic blue eyes made her go crazy anytime she looked at them. Damn, how could someone be so handsome! Like a greek god untamed and captivating, who just broke free from his heavenly abode to drive her absolutely insane.

In her twenty one years of existence, she had never come across someone so handsome, yet intimidating in an intriguing manner.

Now she couldn't get him off her mind, and no matter how hard she tried, all she could think about is Lucien Sanderson and how the hell she's gonna see him again.

"What took you so long?" Her sister's voice broke in, jolting her

"Um the traffic was pretty jammed tonight" she fibbed

"Why didn't you take my call?"

"I was still at the party then, i'm sorry" she replied quietly, not wanting to piss her off

"So how was it?" she asked plainly

"Fun"

"Who were you with?"

"What?" The question came as a shock to her

"Who were you with?" She repeated, looking her in the eye, indirectly telling her not to make her repeat herself again.

"Lucien Sanderson" she replied, almost immediately

"What exactly were you doing with him? Do you even know who the guy is?"

Hell yeah. "He just asked me for a dance"

"That's it? Look I didn't send you to that party so that you could play the role of a gold digger I sent you there to represent me and just that"

At least i just played the role for a night while you have been a gold digger all your freaking life. Her blood boiled as Jessy called her a gold digger, i've been called worse . But of course, she couldn't say that out loud unless she didn't have plans of sleeping at her house tonight.

"I accidentally spilled wine on mr Lucien's suit, he made me make up for it with a dance, okay?" she paused and took a deep breath. "That's it"

After all her years of being with Jessy, she had already learned to never take any of her actions or words to heart. That was the only way one could live with her.

"I'll be going to my room now" Jena said and quickly faced the stairs.

"I made pasta for dinner"

"I'm not hungry"

"So what do you expect me to do? Throw it away?"

"I'll just have it later" Jena replied and ascended the stairs without waiting to hear her sister's response.

. . .

Resting on her bed, sleep eluded her, as she kept changing positions every few seconds. She couldn't pinpoint the exact source of her restlessness: her white knight or her sister.

She gazed at her white ceiling a bit longer before dialing the number of the one person who could instantly turn her frown upside down.

"Hey Anna"

"Hey bes! what's up" the girl on the other end asked excitedly

"Not good. I can't sleep"

"Why? Oh my God how was the party? Did you meet your lucky charm there? Alright alright, tell me, what's he like?"

"Chill bes!"

"Come on! Tell me everything!"

Jena chuckled as she remembered what occured between her and her white knight

She first of all told her about the crazy dude that wanted to ruin her whole evening. Anna definitely didn't have it easy. She didn't even like the idea of letting Jena go solo to that party to begin with, knowing full well her best friend would be a magnet for all those pesky blood sucking mosquitoes. And now, look what happened.

Her blood boiled as Jena told her everything. The thought of tracking down the man and beating him to a pulp was not new or strange to her; she has a knack for putting guys like him in their place.

But when she finally broke the news about her white knight to her, Anna fell silent for a while.

Like any other human being, she was shocked... and extremely happy for her. Not like there was any reason to be happy though, right?

Anna and Jena have both been best friends right from childhood. Back when they first met, they promised each other that they would never part ways so they attended the same high school and college and even graduated together.

Back in high school, people always criticized Jena saying that she only befriended Anna because of her wealth and social status. It got worse in college. People even went as far as calling her Anna's lapdog but Jena couldn't care less. Their bond kept growing way stronger by the day and to her, that was all that mattered.

Anna was always ready to imprison anyone who dared to pick on her precious Jena. She loved Jena so much. She has always wanted to protect her from anything and everything, despite knowing that she also has her life to live. She is such a sweet and innocent girl who didn't deserve the past she had..
