Director Glover's Office. 3rd Person's P.O.V.
Piccolo is worried. It's not easy for him to be worried. But in this situation, it would be crazy not to be worried. So far, his student is fighting in, what is supposed to be the easiest mission a new recruit of Jump Force could ever get, and there's nothing he can do about it, except to watch. However, that isn't the only thing he's worried about. 'How on Earth did the Venoms track them down?' Piccolo thought. He tried to answer his own question, but he couldn't. The only thing he has is what Freddy said earlier. He said he asked for reinforcements. 'Does that mean their outpost was attacked before? How many times did it happen?' This only caused Piccolo to go down a rabbit hole that he didn't need right now. However, there is one question that bugs him the most: 'Did the Director know about it? And still sent Nelson on that mission?!' As Piccolo looked at the back of Director Glover, he tried his best to calm himself down, but his left hand refused to listen to him as it already started to grip his other arm like a vice.
Kakashi noticed this, and in all honesty, he wasn't better. He too noticed something off about this mission, but it wasn't the Venom's arrival that pulled up red flags for him. Instead it was the complete and utter silence on the situation. They didn't receive any reports on the situation at all. He personally knew a few ninjas who were stationed at that outpost, but there was no contact made, and to his knowledge, no requests for reinforcements, at all. To be fair, he didn't ask, but if the situation was this dire, why was there no contact? Or maybe there was...
But both instructors couldn't focus on their inner thoughts any longer, because the chuckles coming from their rubber comrade wouldn't let up. Out of the three people currently standing in the Director's office, Luffy was the only who wasn't skeptical or afraid for Zachery Nelson's life. Instead, he wore a smile on his face, without a care in the world. Kakashi and Piccolo both had different feeling about him.
Kakashi found Luffy to be... odd, to say the least. Not like the Naruto-level of odd he has grown accustomed too, granted Naruto can show at times some level of maturity, but this is a whole new, whacky level he never thought possible for anyone. Does he have this much trust in his subordinate's survival? Or is it just downright stupidity? However, in the end, he is a Captain on the Jump Force base, and he'll respect that authority for now... or at least until he shows himself to be incompetent.
On the other hand, Piccolo did not stand Luffy at all. In his mind, if someone like Luffy could become a Captain, then the standard for merit was really low. But the fact that Goku was chosen for the office completely shuts him up on the topic, whenever he thinks about it. In the end, friend or not, he should at least be capable of fearing for the life of his subordinate. 'But he isn't. It's like he has the unyielding faith in his subordinate's skills and abilities. Despite the fact that Nelson was caught off guard, he's still wouldn't budge. Why?!' Piccolo thought as he stared at the side of Luffy's head. He didn't look like he even noticed Piccolo was staring at him. He only watched the screen.
Piccolo's gaze soon fell back on the screen. He may not share Luffy's faith, but beyond that scowl there is hope. "He should have blocked that attack at least." Piccolo muttered.
But Kakashi picked it up. "Maybe... but this isn't training anymore. Now, Nelson is fully experiencing a battle for the first time since his recruitment, and it isn't the same like his fight in New York. Besides, he's not dead yet."
"'Yet'. Exactly, but since he decided to stare at the corpse, he left himself wide open for the enemy to get the first blow." Piccolo said.
"As you would know, a fight isn't determined by the first blow, Piccolo." Kakashi shot back. Piccolo gave him a nasty side-glance. Both instructors then watched as the fights between the three heroes went on. When Zac struck the Venom with that high kick, they let out a sigh of relief.
"Well, would you look at that. It seems Nelson got his head back in the game." As much as Piccolo wanted to retort, he couldn't ignore the fact that Kakashi made a good point. When he looked back at the screens, he had to admit he did feel a little proud at seeing his student get back up and land the next attack on his opponent.
"Alright, but when he comes back, I'll make sure to drill that into his skull." Kakashi felt a small sweat drop from his forehead when Piccolo said that. But he wasn't wrong. Kakashi could agree with him on that part. 'It seems Captain Luffy isn't the only one to have faith, even if he doesn't want to admit it. Well, I guess I'm not that far off.' Kakashi still struggled to have complete and total faith in Zac, considering he is still a new recruit, but in the end, that didn't mean he's weak. After all, he has experience with being impressed by newbies.
However, before Kakashi or Piccolo could watch the fight further, both picked up something. Piccolo with his hearing and Kakashi with his gut. Something or someone was coming down the stairs. Luffy was the only one between the three who didn't seem to notice this, or maybe he did? Instead he only focused his attention on the screens. The director also didn't seem to notice, but in reality he did. However, instead of feeling worried, he somehow looked happy, with that small grin barely visible on his face. 'Right on time.' The director thought.
Soon everyone, including Luffy started hearing footsteps, coming down the stairs. The steps getting louder and louder. Kakashi and Piccolo were worried it might be another hero, but their worries got worse the second they saw who it was. It was Jason Williams. Kakashi and Piccolo both shared a look of shock on their faces, while Luffy seemed glad to see him.
It didn't take Jason more than a second to realize the eyes that were on him, and when he did, he stopped mid-step. He saw the faces, but more importantly he saw the whole room. "Oh... Uhhh sorry, I thought this was the bathroom. My bad. I'll see myself out." But he was stopped when Luffy jumped on the platform he was on, and landed right in front of him.
"Hey Jazzy. What's up?" Jason immediately recognized the error in this situation.
"It's Jason moron! Jay-son. How many times do I have to tell you?!" Jason said with a massive tick mark on his face. Honestly, this wasn't the first time Jason struggled to get Luffy to pronounce his name right, but no matter how many times he tries to help him, the rubber pirate still fumbles it. At this point, Jason feels like he is doing this on purpose.
His assumption proven to be true for him, when Luffy started chuckling. Jason was about to chew him out when he heard someone clear his throat. All parties turned to look at the director, who had turned to look at their new guest. "Mr. Williams, would you please come over here." Jason felt like he did something bad and the teacher asked him to come to his desk. Even though it was weird for the director to suddenly address him by name, since he never met this man before, he still felt this giant urge to follow through what he was asked him to do. So follow through he did. He walked down the stairs and walked past Kakashi and Piccolo without making eye contact, but he felt their eyes on him.
When Jason reached the director's desk, he thought he was going to be reprimanded for walking into his office without asking, but he noticed the look on the director's face and it didn't look like he was mad. Instead he looked like he was glad he was there. "I'm glad you found this place, Mr. Williams." Jason raised his one eyebrow in confusion and so did the others.
"Why would you say that?" Piccolo asked.
"Might I add, he's a civilian, who wandered in on an ongoing classified operation being done. Last thing we want is for him to gossip to his friends about this. Isn't that why we have barriers placed at the entrance?" Kakashi said agreeing with Piccolo. They didn't want someone to listen in on important matters like this and tell many people about it, so that's why the director's office is equipped with a barrier to keep non-essential personnel out. The barrier is on permanently, and when someone who isn't permitted to enter tries to go in, they feel a small shock, like the ones you get from those taser gum sticks you find in a toy store. Luckily the barrier is easy to see. That way they can avoid any casualties.
"Yes, you are correct, but I shut them down." The director said it so nonchalantly, Piccolo nearly fell over and face planted on the floor.
"You, what!" Piccolo had always been around idiots doing idiotic things, and he got use to it. After all, it's only fair to expect stupid people to do stupid things, but the director was a very smart man. So to hear this very smart man do something extremely stupid and risky nearly knocked him into the deep end.
"Hey, shut up Green Man! No one asked you!" Luffy chimed in.
"Why don't you shut up?! The adults are talking!" Piccolo fired back, which caused Luffy to extend his head and press it up against Piccolo's with a growl. But Piccolo was pushing back. Kakashi only buried his face in his hand.
"If you must know, I've been meaning to talk to Mr. Williams about an important matter for a while now, but my schedule was packed and I haven't found the time. So, you can say this little visit is a blessing in disguise." Glover said, but Jason was even more confused.
"What? I'm sorry to burst your bubble mister director, but I only got lost trying to find the bathroom." Jason said, but Glover wasn't offended.
"And what a blessing in disguise it was. However, they are correct. This is a classified operation and it requires my full attention, so our talk has to wait until it ends." Glover said as he turned his head toward the screen. Jason decided to look too, but he was shocked to see Zac on the screen.
"What the hell?! What's Zac doing on the screen?! Is he fighting?! Holy shit, why didn't he tell me? I thought he was training right now." Jason exclaimed.
"My apologies, but Mr. Nelson was needed urgently, so I put him on this mission at the last minute." Glover said. Jason could understand it, but still it felt kind of wrong to see it. In the end, Jason felt very uncomfortable at the fact that Zac is the only one between them fighting and helping out, while he is sitting here on the base. And seeing Zac fighting just made him feel jealous.
"You can stay if you want, Mr. Williams. But you have to promise not to say anything you're about to see to anyone else outside of this room. Do I make myself clear?" The director was very firm. So firm in fact, Jason felt a knot in his throat, but he nodded 'yes'. This seemed to satisfy the director. He then turned back to the fight.
There is only one other person who seemed thrilled to have Jason in the room, and that was Luffy. But the other two in the room didn't share as much of the director's satisfaction. However both of them couldn't say or do anything about it, if the director already have his permission.
Without missing a beat Luffy jumped on top of Jason's shoulders. "Yeah! Hehehe! This is going to be fun."
But Jason did not share Luffy's glee. Not one bit. "What the hell Luffy?! Get off me, you little baboon!" Jason said and his voice was tense. Luffy was heavier then he looked. But he didn't seem to acknowledge what Jason said.
"Just you wait, you're going to see Zac in action." How Luffy said it, made Jason think he sounded like a little kid watching his favourite cartoon. But how Jason felt, was an entirely different matter to sort through. Just then, the director coughed.
"Ok now, let's get on with it, if you wouldn't mind." At that, everyone turned back to the screens.
(Scene Change)
Nothing can explain the fixed gaze that Zachery Nelson directed at the Venom. The animosity, the anger, and the rage. All of that, spiraling behind his multi-coloured eyes. She could feel it. But was she afraid? No. Instead she loved it! She shuddered as she breathed in and out. Her body was tingling at the sight of someone staring at her with so much hatred. She licked her bloody lip, and let out a small moan as she returned Zac's gaze with her own.
Zac on the other hand, couldn't tell what was going on with her weird body language. Instead, all he felt was the need to beat her. He was about to lunge at her before she spoke up: "That was a good kick. I can tell you're really strong. And that look in your eyes, *moan* you're making feel on fire, boy. That stare is making me feel more ALIVE!" She said right after she finished wiping the blood from her lip with her forearm. And then she threw a smoke bomb at his face. The smoke completely covered the entire area they were in. Zac brought up his arm to cover his face and the coughs coming from it. As he was trying to get his coughs under control, he tried look around him to see any kind movement.
However, he couldn't. There wasn't even a flicker of smoke or the sound of a wisp. If she was in the smoke, she could not be detected. Suddenly he felt a sting in his left arm. "Ow, shit!" He looked and saw a small cut on his upper arm. He looked down, and saw the shuriken laying on the ground by his feet. Then he felt another sting on his cheek, then his shoulder, his right arm, his back and his side. Acting on instinct, he brought both his arms up to cover his face before he felt the intensity of the shurikens getting worse. He felt them hit everywhere on his body at this point.
'Damnit, I can't stay here.' He thought, before he bend his legs and jumped back. Soon he found himself outside of the smoke and away from the shurikens. But just when he landed he felt his instincts flare up and out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a mass with something shiny near his face. The Venom ninja held her Chidori ready again for the fatal strike to her opponent's neck, but once again she was too slow.
Zac reacted again, turning his body to his left and lifted his left leg to deliver painful spinning crescent kick to the ninja's body. The ninja flew again, but this time she landed against a wall, near the stairs with a painful thud. She slid down from the wall and sat on her butt.
'That was close.' Was the first thought that sprung up in Zac's mind, after that landing that kick. After the Venom's body struck the wall, she did not look like she was getting back up. Instead she's just laying there. In reality, it hasn't been a full minute, but for Zac it felt like time was speeding by and his body was on autopilot. 'Shit! If that Chidori landed, I would be dead now. But somehow, my body reacted faster than I could even think. Wow! I guess Piccolo did a good job by putting me through the ringer.' While Zac was having his thoughts, his right leg finally stepped back on the ground. But Zac's attention didn't leave the Venom's body. Although he was relieved after he landed the devastating kick against her, he didn't want to let his guard down again. If this Venom looked like a shinobi, who knows what kind of tricks she has under her sleeve.
Against his better judgement, he started walking up to her. His instincts told him that this was a trap, but at the same time he held out hope that the fight was over. With each step he took, getting closer to the prone body of the Venom girl, he felt his heart speed up. His eyes was shaking. Just when he stepped again, the Venom's body disappeared in a cloud of smoke. This confirmed Zac's instincts. 'Oh shit!' But his alarm was too slow when he felt someone's presence behind him. He turned around just in time to see that same Venom girl standing behind him with a kunai in her hand, ready to strike with that crazed smile on her face.
But, once again, Zac's body went into autopilot. Right when the kunai was about to pierce his chest, Zac grabbed her arm with tight grip and stopped it. The Venom was shocked, and that left an opening for the vicious left cross to land on her face. The blow send her flying again, but her body didn't fly too far before it once again went *poof* and in its place was a slab of concrete, now crumbled into pieces.
Zac was surprised again, but he quickly calmed down to see a large body of shiny object flying in his directions. Without missing a beat, he dodged and evaded the shurikens, without letting even one of them scratch him again. When there were no more to dodge, his eyes finally saw what hopefully is the real Venom girl. She was perched on the power pole, almost like a cat who's ready pounce. Upon seeing her crazy smile again, Zac felt even more livid. "Is all of this just a game to you?! HUH?! Do you even feel bad about everything you've done here?!"
This only made her eyebrow rise. "Huh? What are you talking about?" Zac felt his anger switch to confusion at the sight of her confusion. But her confusion slowly morphed into frustration. "Come on! We had such a good moment and then you ruined it with this hippy-dippy bullshit. I mean seriously, nobody likes a buzzkill. You gotta change that attitude otherwise no women wants to bone yah, just saying."
Zac felt his face heat up, but he could not hide his embarrassment. His face is so red, you could heat up a dinner platter for a family of ten. "S-Say w-w-What?!" Zac screamed out in a high-pitched voice.
Then as quick as it appeared, the frustration vanished and her sly smile returned. "But, don't worry, baby. I forgive you and now we can work on this relationship together!" She said as she pulled out another kunai from her bag. She then jumped off the telephone pole in his direction, eagerly ready to continue their fight, too which Zac was an unwilling recipient. Zac tried to ready himself, but the Venom was just too fast for a proper counter attack.
All Zac could do was dodge. He turned his body completely to the side so that her entire body can fly past him, but she was expecting this outcome. When her lower body came into the right distance, she kicked Zac in the chest and that launched her straight into the direction opposite from where he was standing. The kick send Zac skidding backwards, but it didn't knock him over. The Venom turned her body to land on her feet, and when her feet touched the ground, she attacked again. Zac then finally stopped himself from skidding, but when he looked up he saw the Venom was on him again.
She unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks towards multiple targets on Zac's body and Zac tried to block every attack. Then came a jab-cross-lowkick combo, which was all blocked successfully and then from the left leg she aimed a high-kick right at Zac's temple. Her flexibility would have helped her to land the kick, but Zac leaned his upper body back and allowed the kick to fly past his face, but she didn't stop there. When her leg landed on the ground, her body turned to do a spinning, back-kick with her right leg, but Zac saw it coming and gracefully stepped to the left. The kick missed its target.
She tried to land a spinning backfist to Zac but once again he just leaned back and the fist missed his face. Zac saw an opening to her face and aimed a right cross down to her jaw, but the Venom was anticipating Zac's next move, and just when Zac responded, the ninja performed her one-handed hand-signs. Zac saw this and realised he was in trouble. But he was too close to her and with no time to get away, he braced for what's about to happen.
"Fire Style: Fireball Justu" She shot a huge fireball, point-blank into Zac's face. The fireball exploded and it shot Zac backwards into the same wall where the Venom's clone was earlier. The Venom looked at Zac with a sadistic grin.
When the fireball exploded, it burned a huge hole in Zac's shirt and he also felt his skin burning like the worst sunburn someone could ever imagine. Zac never experienced this intense heat before in his life, but all that he was left with was a burned shirt and some scorch marks on his skin. Zac hissed and tensed his body at this new pain, but he gnashed his teeth and pushed through it. He climbed back to his feet and looked at the Venom with unwavering grit.
'I really gotta thank Piccolo after this. If it wasn't for those energy blasts he shot at me during training, I don't think I would survived that.' Zac thought as he leaned his arm on the wall to balance himself. 'But damnit! This girl is too fast and unpredictable. She is definitely a ninja all right. I have to get close and make sure she can't get away, if I want to win this!'
Zac then ripped his burned shirt of his body and threw it away from him, but this didn't scare the Venom. "Oh yeah, baby! Now this is my kind of show!" She screamed with a pink blush on her grey cheeks and steam coming out of her nose, as she shamelessly looked at Zachery's body, not paying any mind to the cuts and burns.
This made Zac feel self-conscious and embarrassment. "Oh knock it off with that crap! YOU'RE FREAKING ME OUT!" He then winced when he felt a few of his cuts starting to burn.
The Venom didn't seem to pay any attention to Zac's objection to her objectification, but when she saw Zac in pain her grin only grew bigger. She then grabbed the tanto from the sheath on her thigh. "I'm sorry darling, but this seems to be the end of our little rumble. Now I want to make this painless for you... but that's never going to happen!" She then bent down and launched herself towards Zac again, thinking he was going to be an easy kill in this state.
"Bleed for me, baby!" She yelled.
But Zac was waiting for this moment. He timed her trajectory perfectly, and just when she was about to stab the tanto into his chest, he quickly grabbed her forearm again and gripped it so tight the bones nearly broke. The Venom's eyes grew in alarm. She tries in vain to pull her arm away, but his grip was too tough to break out of. While the Venom was panicking, Zac allowed a smirk of his own to grow on his face. "Got'cha."
The Venom noticed something forming in Zachery's right hand. It was dark blue energy gathering and swirling into a ball that nearly filled his entire palm. She punched at his face again and again he dodged it.
"Now take this! RASENGAN!" Zac then thrusted the Rasengan right into the Venom's stomach. The Venom felt a lot of pain from her lower body. So much so, her body started to lift up from the ground and spin clockwise. She then felt her body shoot backwards like a missile.
Zac saw the Venom fly into the wall opposite of them, but this time her body broke straight through it and she didn't stop there. Her body continued to shoot through the air until it broke through another wall of the building behind them. The wall crumbled down and buried the Venom under it. Zac kept his gaze on where the Venom landed to see if she would get back up, but so far she looked like she was defeated. So, with a sigh he fell to his knees.
Zac felt his body come off its edge. His chest heaved a sigh of relief as he felt his adrenaline return to its normal levels. He lifted his head again to look at the hole, where the Venom's body is currently is laying. 'I hope she stays down.' He hissed when he felt his body ache. "Ow! Shit! Yeah, that's definitely gonna leave a mark." Zac said as he tried and struggled to get back on his feet.
But problems came again in the form of Freddy crashing into him and then both of them smashing into the street. Zac is laying on the street surface with Freddy's heavy frame on top of him. He tried to get up, but it was a struggle. That was until he felt Freddy starting to move. "Ugh, f****! What the hell hit me?" Freddy said as he rubbed his head.
"Huh?" Freddy looked down and saw Zac underneath him. "Get off me, loser!" Freddy then jumped off and then Zac could finally move again.
"What?! You were on top of me, you idiot!" Zac said.
"Idiot?! You wanna f**kin go wise-ass?!" Freddy insulted back but Zac was not having it. Just when Zac was about to clap back, he saw Freddy get hit by another energy blast that blasted him away.
Zac whipped his head to where the blast came from. He saw that other Venom with same kind of the battle armour as Freddy, but the shoulder pads were ridiculously extended. The Venom looked his work with a sadistic spark in his eyes. "Thanks for distracting him for me." The Venom addressed Zac. "I don't usually go around saying this, but you've been a real help."
Zac then sees the Venom aiming his open palm towards him. He started panicking. "But that part's over. Now comes the next one where we're still enemies and I have to kill you now." Yellow energy started to gather and grow in his palm until it grew to be as big as a baseball.
Zac wanted to move, but just when he could stand on his feet, he felt his legs go numb and then he fell back down. He couldn't get back up. 'Shit! I can't move! This is not good!'
"Say goodbye, HERO!" Two things happened when the Venom finished that sentence: The first is the energy ball did fire and the second is it didn't hit Zac. Just before the Venom shot the energy ball, another body slammed into him, causing the energy ball to shoot up into the air, above Zac and explode.
'Wow, deja vu.' Is all Zac could say to the situation.
"Zac!" Zac turned his head to the source and saw it was Trunks flying down to him. He landed next to Zac and handed him something. "Take this."
Zac looked at it and realised it's a senzu bean. He grabbed it out of Trunks' hand, without a second thought and ate it. Barely a second went by, before Zac felt his wounds disappear and his energy come back. "Thanks Trunks. You're a lifesaver."
"No problem." Trunks said before he then helped Zac up to his feet. They heard the two Venoms start to move and when they looked, they saw them getting back up to their feet. Trunks glared at his opponent and Zac did the same. The Venoms also glared back at them. It was almost like a western standoff.
Scene Change (With Sasuke):
Sasuke Uchiha is fed up. He has combed this entire area for what felt like hours and found nothing. What makes things worse, is that presence he's sensing has not done anything yet. He already sensed their presence back when he arrived at the hotel site, but all that happened so far was nothing. There was no sneak attack. No surprise reveal. It's like this presence is completely set on hiding from him.
As Sasuke walked past the remains of a wall, that is probably from the original hotel. He couldn't help but feel like this is some kind of game. Like there's someone out here, toying with him. But as much as he wants to get the inevitable fight over with, there is still something holding him back. They didn't reveal themselves. There were times where Sasuke purposefully left himself open for them to attack, but they still didn't and when Sasuke send his clones out to scout the area earlier, they came back empty handed.
Whoever this spy was, wasn't an amateur. 'Are they just keeping surveillance? Or is there another reason?' Just then he felt his foot step on something soft and squishy. He looked down and his sharp eyes could see a small patch of purple, hidden in the ash. He knelt down and picked up, what is revealed to be a stuffed bunny rabbit. There are some patches of purple left, but the rest of its body is covered in ash and soot. One of its button eyes is also missing and the one arm is ripped, hanging on by a thread.
Sasuke remembers the director talking about the mission details for that newbie. There is a family somewhere out here that the director tasked him to find. So, this might have belonged to the child and this means that they were here.
However this revelation didn't pull on Sasuke's heart strings. There is emotion held behind his cold, dark irises. After all, why should he care about random civilians, lost somewhere around here? They are probably dead anyways.
Sasuke then threw the rabbit over his shoulder, like he was throwing away trash. However just before the rabbit could land on the ground, Sasuke sensed something rushing at him fast. He dodged at the last second, blitzing away from this unknown assailant and got himself ready for a fight. He grabbed his sword, and ripped it out in a reverse grip. But when he got to see his so-called 'opponent', he didn't see one. Instead all he saw was a child, clutching at the stuffed toy for dear life.
He clearly sees the child is a Venom, with her grey skin and long, white hair, and she was even wearing a sailor uniform with inverse colours, but what's off about this situation is that she is alone. Or is she? If she isn't, there is no time to waste.
Sasuke sprinted towards her with the clear intention to cut her down, but before his sword could even cut her, she blitzed away from him. Sasuke followed her movements as if she was moving in slow motion. He intercepted her and attempted to slash her, but once again she dodged it. Sasuke tried again and again to cut her down, but each attempt failed. Sasuke was getting annoyed behind that calm and stoic face, however there is still one thing bugging him about this altercation.
'This kid is acting strange. Why isn't she fighting me?' His observation was proven true, when the girl dodged another slice from Sasuke and ran off, with the stuffed rabbit still in her arms.
Sasuke, for the first time today, looked at the Venom child running in the distance with confusion. Every time he faced a Venom in the past, they always fought him and made it clear they wanted to kill him, but now here another Venom who does the opposite. Why?
Sasuke then stopped his moment of confusion, before following the child.
Back with Zac:
Both Zac and Trunks stared down their respective opponents. Trying to gauge their next moves and also trying to psyche them out. At the same time, the Venom who shot Freddy, looked at Zac a crazy smile, just like the ninja did earlier. Deep down, Zac hoped and prayed that this one isn't as weird as his previous opponent. The thought of her still makes him want to shiver.
Trunks, meanwhile, kept his eyes on the Venom he's been fighting this whole time. Unlike Zac's opponent, he didn't have a smile on his face; instead he snarled. In their fight, the Venom has proven to Trunks to be difficult, however, he also realised that he isn't that much of commendable fighter. In the beginning, the Venom started off strong, but now he's getting tired and it is starting to show. The Venom heaved and coughed, trying desperately to get his heart rate down, but he couldn't. Trunks was still fine, except for some minor bruises, but he wasn't trying to catch his breath and this seriously pissed the Venom off.
"You think you're better than me." The Venom whispered. Trunks was getting more on edge while the Venom was seething. The Venom's body soon started to glow bright purple and the wind around him, picked up a little at that moment. Zac and Trunks could feel the air whip past their bodies and Zac especially felt how it cut into his face. He kept his arms up to cover his face, but it did little to help.
"DON'T YOU DARE THINK, YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME!" Then a bright purple fire covered his body and blew up around him. The wind then got so strong, it almost blew Zac away.
The other Venom saw what his partner was doing, and with an even bigger smile on his face, decided to join in. "Oh yeah! Now the party is really GETTING STARTED!" His body then glowed bright red and just like his partner, it also exploded with such intensity that when combined with his partner, the wind pushed Zac back, inch by inch, but Trunks stayed in place. Zac's feet left marks on the ground, trying to stay in one spot.
The wind kicked up so much dust, Zac couldn't keep anything out of his eyes and that was his mistake. The second he blinked, his opponent was already behind him, ready to deliver the first blow. Zac felt his presence, but it was too late to do anything about it.
"LOOK OUT!" Trunks yelled, but it was also too late for a warning.
The Venom smashed his fist on Zac's ribcage, which send him flying off to the right, across the street. His body broke through the wall of the apartment building, and the front desk in the lobby and it would have destroyed the second wall, but it didn't.
Trunks was about to step in, before he had hold up his sword and block another slash from his opponent. "Don't you dare, take your eyes of me!"
Zac couldn't breathe and his ears were ringing. After what felt like an eternity, his lungs demanded he inhale or else. So with tremendous effort, he inhaled as much air that he could fit down his windpipe and when his lungs were filled, he exhaled. He tried to stand back up but the pain was too much. The only thing he could do was turn over on his stomach.
There wasn't time for anything else, when the Venom appeared in the lobby. "Oh boy! You really went flying there! Almost got a home run with that." Zac looked up to the Venom, walking towards him with glee. "But it's too bad, that wall stopped you." His eyes held a look of sadism in them and Zac felt his fear climb back up.
"Why don't we do a little redecorating?" When Zac saw the Venom close enough, he regained control over his body. He jumped up and tried to land a right cross to his face, but the Venom stopped it cold in the palm of his hand. Zac felt the overwhelming strength in the Venom's one hand and it almost drove him to his knees, but he didn't stop there. Zac then send and landed a left hook to the Venom's face, which released his other hand.
He moved his body to the correct position to send a right round kick straight to the Venom's face, which also landed, but the Venom still kept that crazy smile on his face. Zac didn't let up and with the same leg, he spun his body and landed a spinning kick to the back of the Venom's head. Zac felt his heal make contact with the Venom's cranium and he could see his head bending forward a little bit, but the Venom wasn't even phased.
The Venom straightened his neck and looked back to Zac, and his confused and frustrated gaze met the fiery pupils of madness, waiting to the next move. Then the Venom laughed. "Seriously? Is that all you got? Oh boy, sorry to break it to you, but that isn't gonna cut it!"
Zac then felt his cheek cave and his head move to the left. The force behind the Venom's cross, nearly broke his jaw and almost shattered his teeth. His body hit the wall hard and it left an imprint. It rocked his head so much that it felt like his brain was bouncing around inside his skull like it was a pinball. Blood and spit shot out of his mouth and he felt like he was sliding down in slow motion.
His butt met the ground with a soft thud. His eyes were heavy but he fought to keep them open and he fought to focus them on at least one of the four opponents he was seeing.
"Hahaha! Well, that was easy! Another hero bites the dust, but I have to admit." The Venom walked closer and knelt down. "I was really hoping this would be fun. I mean, you beat up my partner so easily back there. I thought you would be a challenge, but I guess I was wrong." That sick, twisted smile now felt condescending. Zac wanted to do something, but he couldn't even move his chin up.
"Guess that pervert was weak, if someone like you could defeat her." The Venom snorted and laughed.
(Scene Change):
Back in the director's office, the onlookers watched the screen with dreadful anticipation. Both Piccolo and Kakashi tried to hold themselves back from doing the unthinkable, but if Zachery wasn't going win, then they will have no choice. Luffy lost his smile and is now staring at the situation with what looked like indifference, but underneath it was the same kind of conviction shared by the two trainers. But the same could not be said with Director Glover. He looked the screen with a small grin etched on the sides of his mouth.
Jason on the other hand was going ballistic. "What the hell dude! Get up!" He yelled at the monitor but Zac didn't listen. "Don't you f**king dare, Zac! Don't lose! Aren't any of you going to do something?!"
No one answered. "Guys, come on! He's gonna die, out there!" Once again, not even a peep.
"Are you f**king kidding me right now?!" Jason at this point was yelling at the top of his lungs. His eyes found the director chair and soon enough his body followed.
"DO YOU EVEN CARE?!" Jason kicked the chair so hard it fell on its side and slid close to the director's feet. The director looked at Jason in his peripheral, still with the same grin on the other end of his mouth. After that everything still remained silent as everyone was now looking at Jason.
Jason was having a mental breakdown about the possible future. What is going to happen if Zac dies out there? The scenarios were endless. From Jason getting kicked out, to him promising to take revenge on those grey-skin bastards. However, the one thing that stayed the same for each scenario was the fact that the blame for Zac's death lies solely with the other people in this room. Zac's so called comrades were staying here instead of going out and saving him.
"Are you finished?" Jason finally heard the director speak up. He didn't even look away from the screen. "Because I believe this little show you're putting on, has outlived its relevance to the situation. Kicking the chair won't change Mr. Nelson's predicament, any more than sending backup will help him. This is his mission, which makes him responsible." Jason, at the moment, was contemplating whether or not to kick the director this time.
"But he's not ready." Piccolo chimed in. "I told Kakashi this, earlier. He was nowhere near ready to go out on a mission and he was definitely not ready to fight Venoms!" Jason head perked when he heard Piccolo sharing the same sentiment as Jason. Kakashi too, but he held them back, considering everyone else was voicing them.
"So do you want to go to his rescue? If you do, you will shatter the confidence he might gain from succeeding and you might destroy his chance to grow, if he fails." The director stated, while not even looking at Piccolo.
"I know that! That's why I won't." Now it was the director's turn to be shocked. The director, after a moment, regained his composure.
"Well well well, I thought you were against this. Did you change your mind?"
"No, I didn't! I still think this is a mistake. But arguing about it, isn't going to change anything." Piccolo said, but his body betrayed his words, because his both of his fists are still clenched. Kakashi was impressed by Piccolo. At first, he thought he was completely against this, but now he seems to be willing to give this a chance to be another part of Zac's training. It might be cruel at first glance, but it is necessary.
Jason looked at Piccolo incredulously, because he thought he was going to be on his side on this. Then his gaze turned to Kakashi, who still say anything. 'Un-f***ing-believable!' Jason thought. But before another outburst would leave his mouth, he was stopped.
"Everyone just shut up!"
The atmosphere changed when the most unlikely person in the room made his voice known. Both Kakashi and Jason showed different degrees of shock. Kakashi felt like his eye was going to pop out of his head, when he recognized Luffy's voice of all people. From the moment they first met, Kakashi always thought Luffy was way more of a relaxed individual. Too relaxed if he was honest. So when heard him demand everyone to shut up, he has to admit, it blindsided him.
Jason, on the other hand was flabbergasted. The only thing, he could think was: 'Did someone f**king drop him when he was a kid?!'
Piccolo, at this stage, gave up on trying to understand the rubber-brained moron, instead, all he wanted to do was to pummel him. But before he could anything else, Luffy spoke again.
"Look, I get it, I want to go help Zac too. But let me you ask you somethin' first: would he want our help?" Luffy then turned to look Jason in the eyes. "You know him the best, don't you? If anyone went down there to help him, would he appreciate it?" This question gave Jason the relief needed to think clearly. He remembers the times when both of them had to defend themselves from the occasional bullies and there were times when either one of them were overwhelmed in a fight and needed help. But every time, Zac would get mopey about getting help and if Jason was honest, he did too.
With that, Jason blew through his nose and nodded 'no'. "Then we'll stay out of it. Besides Trunks is there too, right? I'm sure he'll be fine." Luffy said, his face showing off that goofy smile. It made Jason choke back a laugh, but Piccolo's mouth was hanging open in stunned silence, while Kakashi only had a wide open eye.
With the situation looking like it was defused for the time being, the director brought everyone's attention back to him. "Well, I think we won't have to worry about it anymore." He said.
(Scene Change):
The Venom stopped laughing to take one more look at Zac. He saw he could lift his chin up. Finally! That expression in his eyes made him excited. "Yes! Good! Good! Keep that expression." He then got up quickly and moved his hair out of the way. "I really want to save this moment forever. Damn, I wish I had my camera." He then aimed his right arm towards Zac's face and red started to gather in his palm.
"I guess you weren't a total waste of time. But I'm sad to say, this is the end for you. Despite you being stronger than the usual trash, you're still very much a weakling compared to me." Zac felt his body go cold and numb. His heart felt like it wanted to break through his chest and his lungs couldn't keep up with his breathing. Zac wanted to get away, but like a brick wall, his body refused to budge. He couldn't even twitch his fingers, much less run away.
The Venom noticed his body trembling and is amused. "Ha! Wow, you're really scared, aren't you?" His body was shaking like a piston now, but Zac couldn't stop it.
"I guess, you're still very much human."
The second Zac heard that word, he felt his mind go dark. The Venom noticed his body stop shaking, and his eyes looked like he was staring past him. However this didn't worry him. His smile was still there and it was still crazy.
Inside Zac's mind, something completely different was happening. He felt like his body was tied to a chair and he was forced to watch a horror movie, but it wasn't Nightmare on Elm street or Friday the 13th or even Paranormal Activities, he watched something worse. His mind was replaying the day the Venoms came, but more specifically, it replayed the moment where the Venom, who killed his family, said that word.
The memory started there and ended with his father saying his last words. So it played and replayed. However, every time his father wanted to say his final words, he couldn't hear him. His voice sounded like it was muffled. He didn't even notice he stopped breathing. While this was happening inside Zac's mind, the Venom was starting to get annoyed.
The Venom didn't like this thing, going on with him. It looked like he died. "What are you doing?! Are you broken or are you dead?!" If the answer is yes to both of those questions then he will incinerate him, he thought. "Say something!"
The Venom was only met with silence and this made him furious. "HEY! Don't ignore me! You're not allowed to die until I say so, you bastard!" The Venom then smothered the energy ball in his palm and marched toward Zac.
When Zac heard his footsteps rumbling beneath him, he was on the verge of passing out. However just as the Venom got close enough, he heard something. It started off small and soft. It repeated itself again and again, each attempt gradually getting louder and louder. It sounded familiar but he couldn't put his finger on it. It felt like trying to identify a whisper in a pitch black room. Until the final attempt broke through, like a brick through a window. It was his father's voice, screaming.
"ZAC! YOU HAVE TO LIVE!" Those words send a spark through his body that came to life.
The Venom was about to grab Zac when he stopped dead in his tracks. He saw his head whip up and Zac's eyes looking directly at him, while changing colour. His irises turned to pure silver and his pupils to a shiny gold. The Venom couldn't understand what was going. The atmosphere suddenly changed as well and his instincts went into red-alert. It was like all of sudden, the pressure around his body got heavier and he was suffocating.
All while keeping eye contact with Zac, back against the wall. But that feeling only lasted a moment before the Venom willed his body to take action, but that couldn't help against what came next.
In a blink of an eye, Zac was face to face with the Venom, his right arm pulled back and it was covered in a shiny black colour. The Venom couldn't even think, before he felt his entire face cave in. His head was knocked back by the force and soon enough his entire body followed, burying him deep in the wall behind him. His brain took a few seconds to adjust and recognize his body's pain, and it was hard to ignore. He spat blood out of his nose and mouth, but when he tried to breathe, he felt something blocking the airway in his nose. 'He broke my nose!' He thought, but he wasn't angry. No, his mind was racing in exhilaration.
All while he was smiling at Zac, who still has his fist out and it was covered in black.
(Scene Change):
All the people standing in the director's office couldn't believe what they were seeing. On the one hand, they were happy to see Zachery Nelson got his second wind, but they were still confused.
"Ok, what the hell is happening?" Jason was the first to ask.
"It would seem Mr. Nelson is currently fighting for his life. Or maybe it's just his body." The director answered.
"How do you mean?" Kakashi asked.
"Look at him. It doesn't look like he's all there at the moment."
"Ok, but why is that? What's going on with him?" Piccolo asked forcefully.
The director was about to answer that before Luffy interrupted him. "Hey, look at that! I didn't know Zac can use Haki!"
This made both Kakashi and Piccolo switch their attention to Luffy. 'Haki?' Both of them thought. They look back to the screen to see if they could see what he's seeing, and they caught the colour of Zac's right arm. Jason was about to ask what that was, but then the director chipped in to. "Yes Luffy. It seems in an effort to protect himself, he tapped into a power system, deemed the most suitable for the situation. I'm glad to see you caught that. However, given the state Mr. Nelson is in, I would guess that he doesn't have full control over it."
But Luffy didn't listen to the director's explanation at all. He just kept smiling at the screen. This would have annoyed Glover, if he didn't have something else on his mind. 'If his body is only running on survival instincts, why didn't it access his Full Awakening? Surely that would have been more logical for him to be victorious. Or maybe he is trying to access his Full Awakening, but it failed and produced this half-baked version? Could it be something else? Something else, I'm not considering.' His mind continued to ask and answer questions as he and everyone else turned back to the screen.
(Scene Change):
Zac opened his fist and brought them back down to his side as he stared at his imbedded opponent. His silver glare meeting the crazy smile of the Venom. Pieces of the wall started to fall and clatter on the ground as the Venom dislodged himself. "Nice, very nice." The Venom said before he fixed his bend nose, without flinching. "I gotta say, you caught me off guard there. I thought you tapped out and for a second that bummed me out, but to think you can pull this out of your ass, at the last second, colour me impressed." He felt a trickle of blood on his lip and licked it.
Zac, unconsciously took his normal fighting stance. His left leg forward, right hand covering his chin and left arm out in front. "But don't think you'll defeat with only that." The Venom said, but Zac was paying attention. While he was talking, Zac looked his body all over, searching for weak spots. When his eyes finally spotted one, it was when the Venom ended the sentence.
At that moment, Zac launched forward with surprising speed and landed an elbow thrust straight into his solar plexus. The Venom gasped for air but Zac didn't let him get any, when he followed up with another strike from his right elbow against the Venom's chin. The strike staggered him and caused him stumble sideways, and when he was in range, Zac's landed a fast, but powerful roundhouse with his left leg. It send the Venom not only back against the same wall but through it.
The Venom's body broke the wall, and was stopped by the second wall of another building. When the Venom slammed against the wall with a loud thud, he slumped down on the cracked ground of the alley. But Zac still didn't give the Venom any time to recover, because he jumped out of the hole, picked the Venom up by his shoulders and just continued to pummel the living hell out of the Venom.
Each blow caused the Venom's head to rock in different directions. Zac then grabbed his throat to keep him in place in order for the powerful, right cross to land. The punch pushed the Venom's head into wall, causing giant cracks to appear on the wall, like a spiderweb. This didn't knock the Venom out cold, but this did give him an opening. The Venom pushed the fist away and landed a counter against Zac's face, pushing him off but Zac found his footing and moved to his left, causing his back to face the street.
The Venom attempted to punch Zac again, but this time, his fist missed its mark as Zac turned his head left and let it fly past. The action shocked the Venom and that gave Zac the chance to grab ahold of the arm with his other hand and then used the momentum to throw him over his shoulder, out of the alley. The Venom's body struck the already tipped car, like a bullet and he as well as the car broke the fountain in front of the temporary basecamp.
While this was happening, up in the air, Trunks was busy chipping away at his opponent. Blocking slashes and cuts from the Venom's energy blades and then dealing his own right back at him. He was having trouble now, because of the Venom's power boost, but even with that, Trunks noticed that it didn't bring any major changes to their fight. The only noticeable change was that the Venom could now block and deal with Trunks' attacks, but at this point even that was starting to weaken.
When Trunks blocked a downward slash over his head, he successfully kicked the Venom away with a strong side kick to the stomach. With some distance now in between them, Trunks decided to try something different. "Listen, I know you're not in your right mind. But whoever you are, whoever you were. All this destruction couldn't be something you want, right?"
The question only got a resounding "What?" from the Venom. "What are trying to pull? 'Whoever I am?' Seriously, what the hell are you doing?!" Trunks was surprised to hear this from him.
The Venom's power started to rise again, until a strong windstorm filled the sky. The wind then started to move debris around on the ground, some even as big as a fire truck. Trunks kept his sword ready for the worse, despite his convictions.
The Venom continued with: "DON'T YOU DARE THINK, YOU KNOW WHO I AM! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING! NOT ONE DAMN THING!"
At that declaration, Trunks knew deep down that talking wasn't going to cut it and so with a heavy heart, he focused and a tingling sensation in his back. That familiar feeling of power. His body started to glow a bright yellow and his purple hair flowed like they were underwater. The Venom noticed the change and started to worry. "Then I'm sorry for what I'm about to do. Just know that it's for your own good!"
Those words stirred something in the Venom. It was familiar. A feeling that left his body cold, so cold in fact, he could feel ice, piercing his brain. The feeling caused his eyes to tear up. It was fear.
When the Venom finally registered the feeling, something else happened. He remembered something from his past self. He remembered a man, who was a lowly office worker, who left his job and struck out on his own. Back when the work was overloaded, the time was not enough and the respect was in short supply. Almost non-existent. But what he remembers most are those eyes. Those eyes that showed everyone's true colours. His boss, his colleagues, his friends, his parents and even his wife. They all thought the same thing.
That he was WEAK!
But then he felt a different pair of eyes. Young ones, that lacked condescension.
Those memories caused him to turn his attention back to the power coursing through his body. It felt nice and he felt its support. Made him feel safe, but now something is going to threaten that safety and it's standing right in front of him.
With a roar, the Venom shot forward, through the air like a missile, ready to slice his enemy in half. But the sudden appearance of a shiny, golden light stopped this attempt. The Venom tried to block it out, but it was too overwhelming. From what he could make out, he saw Trunks but he looked different. His hair was now golden yellow and standing upright, almost like he styled it by putting his finger in a socket. His eyes were blue and confident, more confident than earlier and it sent a trembling sensation down his spine.
"This ends here." Trunks said before he vanished and quickly reappeared behind his opponent, with his ready to strike. He made sure to hit the Venom with the flat side of the blade. The blow itself had so much force that the Venom shot through a building and into the street.
The impact caused a small earthquake to the surrounding area.
Back with Zac, he already made his way to the wreck where the Venom was. He then opened that wreck, peeling back the metal from the car that had wrapped itself around the Venom's body, like he was ripping open a wrapped present. He then grabbed the Venom by his throat once more and got ready to punch him again, before his body picked up the strange and powerful energy that suddenly filled the air and his instincts recognized it as a threat. His head turned toward the sky as his eyes wildly searched for the source of this threat. They locked onto Trunks and shook. It was him!
He threw the Venom away, like he was throwing away trash and stared up at Trunks.
For some reason, Zac couldn't see an ally in Trunks anymore. He couldn't realize that the power he's sensing belongs to a friend. All he feels is fear and it's enraging.
He felt his body started to glow and burn. The wind around him, turned into a violent tempest. For some reason his head started to hurt, the pain felt like someone was stabbing white-hot knives into his skull and his hands were searching for them. Zac had to kneel because of the pain.
He didn't even notice the Venom getting back up. He saw Zac, clutching his head in pain and grinned, like a maniac at the golden opportunity he's seeing, despite the pain his body was telling him about. Without anymore delay, he rushed to Zac like predator towards its unsuspecting prey. Not even the tempest stopped him.
However just when the Venom got close enough to attack, Zac's body reacted to the threat by grabbing the Venom's fist with his right hand, stopping his attack mere centimeters away from his temple. He was shocked to see his fist stopping, not only that, but he was more shocked to see Zachery Nelson was looking at him, like he was the biggest bug in the world.
Suddenly before the Venom could react, Zac send a powerful uppercut to his chin that send him flying into the air, over the car wreck and into the building that was behind it. The Venom felt his body lose all its energy and will the moment his body impacted the glass, and flew through it. His body tumbled and rolled on the floor before he stopped and he didn't get back up.
Back on the street, Zac wasn't getting better, instead he was still searching for those knives.
Trunks was looking at the crater with dejection. The sight of the Venom laying motionless didn't bring him any feeling of victory. The fact that he only defeated someone who wasn't even in his right mind, did not sit right with him at all. But before he could power down, he heard a crash and then his senses suddenly went crazy at the appearance of another powerful energy.
Freddy finally stirred and woke up. His head hurt like hell but despite the pain, he shook his head to get rid of the dust and debris from his hair and face. Even using his arms to wipe his face. However, he stopped mid-wipe when he suddenly felt like he was suffocating. He tried to find the source, and he almost decided to give up when he saw a pillar of blue light, shining from behind a building. So he got up and followed it.
All Zac could see was that day. It played in an endless loop. His parents were killed and then he was almost killed. But unlike his previous nightmares, these endless loops didn't just show the death of family, instead it changed to his own brush with death and then that kept replaying. He wanted to get away, but his body wouldn't move. He wanted to scream, but no sound left his mouth.
Trunks couldn't make sense of what was happening with Zac, but he knew he had to do something otherwise people might get hurt, Zac included. But he stopped when he caught sight of someone rushing toward Zac. It surprised him to see someone who got in close to him, especially will that level of power unleashed, but he was more surprised when he realised who it was. It was Sasuke.
Sasuke only arrived a few moments ago, to witness Trunks' victory over the Venom. He would have been impressed if Trunks didn't stop to talk with him. He scoffed when he realised Trunks was trying to talk his opponent out of fighting. 'Idiot' was his only thought on the situation. But he did make a mental note on Trunks' transformation. When Sasuke found Zac, he made a completely different mental note. When he saw him walking toward the crushed car, he noticed Zac's eyes was different and he was behaving differently. In their earlier talk, he noticed how Zac was always on the back foot. For Sasuke, that made someone look like a wimp and after hearing all the rumours, he was disappointed, so after that interaction, he wrote him off. But now after seeing this, he changed his mind. He might be useful in the future, after all, but not like this.
When Sasuke, was close enough he grabbed his sword and aimed for a slash that wouldn't kill him, but it would incapacitate him. However just when his blade was over Zac's shoulder, he grabbed his arm, stopping the blade dead its tracks. But Sasuke wasn't shocked or afraid. Maybe a little impressed, but still this was over. While Zac's stared at Sasuke, his eyes suddenly met with Sasuke's sharingan.
Realizing he was in danger, Zac quickly shut his eyes, but that still didn't stop Sasuke. Zac heard something pop behind him and then a sudden, blinding pain in his back and in his chest. He opened his eyes to see the tip of the same blade he stopped, poking out of his chest. He coughed and a trickle of blood flowed out down his chin. Even in his berserk state, Zac looked at Sasuke with confusion, but that was moment he was waiting for.
It happened so fast. When Zac's white eyes met Sasuke's sharingan, the effect was instantaneous. Zac felt his entire consciousness leave his body, like he was falling asleep. His eyes changed back to normal and his body went limp.
"SASUKE!" Trunks yelled as he landed behind him. He didn't know what happened, but when he got closer and saw the Zac's unconscious state, he was appalled. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
Instead of answering, Sasuke merely dispelled his clone and sheathed his sword. He didn't even catch Zac's body as he crumbled to the ground. Trunks was furious and he nearly attacked him, but Sasuke stopped him.
"Relax. He isn't dead."
"I don't believe you." Trunks then grabbed his hilt. "So, is this how you betray us? By stabbing our comrade in the back?!"
Sasuke rolled his eyes. "I told you to calm down. Go ahead and check for yourself." Sasuke walked away from Zac's body and Trunks walked forward with caution, his eyes followed him and his hand is still on the hilt just in case. When Trunks got close enough, he checked for a pulse and was surprised to find one.
"How?" Trunks asked.
"I didn't aim for his heart." Sasuke answered.
Trunks then lifted up his sleeve and activated the communicator on his wrist. "Navigator, get over here and hurry!" It was barely a second later, before Navigator appeared in front of Trunks in a blue light. "Zac is injured but he's alive, get him back to basecamp quickly."
"Yes sir." Navigator said before he teleported Zac away. Trunks then looked up at the hole in building and realised that's where the Venom, Zac fought landed. He flew up into the air, while not even sparing Sasuke a glance. Sasuke noticed this change but he decided to ignore it. Why should he care about it? But Trunks didn't care about his indifference.
"You could've killed him." Trunks said after he came back with an Umbras cube in hand.
Sasuke only sighed. "I told you, I didn't aim for his heart. What, do you want that newbie out of control?" He said without looking at Trunks.
This only made Trunks scoff in anger. "That's not the point! You just put our comrade in the infirmary, without a care in the world!"
"And? What do you want, an apology? Don't be so dramatic." Sasuke asked, his voice barely hiding his annoyance.
Trunks was surprised when he heard that, but honestly, he was more disappointed. "You know I heard a lot about you from everyone in Team Gamma. I heard you were one of the best ninjas among your peers, but then you threw it all away! Betraying your friends, your village, and all for what? Revenge?! Just how selfish can you be?!"
Sasuke immediately turned around and glared at Trunks with both the Sharingan and Rinnegan. Trunks was surprised, but he didn't flinch at the display. Before he could say anything, Sasuke said: "You don't anything about me. So, don't act like it. And for your information, today, Zac Nelson proved himself to be a liability for this mission and if he was left alone, he would have been treated like a Venom and been dealt with. Oh and as far I'm aware, Trunks, don't act all high and mighty when you're not. It makes you look more like a loser."
Trunks was surprised to hear this from Sasuke, but before he could say anything to that, Sasuke continued: "You can be grateful that I didn't kill him... or not, I don't really care. Besides, we're not done yet." Sasuke then searched the area for something, which confused Trunks.
"What are you doing?" Trunks asked, but Sasuke didn't answer. He continued to look around the area, until Trunks saw him stop. He tried to follow Sasuke gaze and saw he was looking at an overturned car, laying on its side. However this didn't bring him the clarification he thought he was getting. Instead it did the exact opposite.
"What are you looking at?" Trunks asked again.
"Her." Sasuke pointed to the broken window, which also lead Trunks to see through the car and out the other side. When he knelt down to get a closer look, he was staring at the little girl who was also staring at him from the other side, hiding. This surprised Trunks, but what surprised him more was her grey skin-colour and her red eyes.
"A little... Venom." Trunks wanted to say 'girl', but he quickly caught himself, because he didn't know what her state was. "Where did you find her?" Trunks asked.
"I didn't find her. She was stalking me, but she didn't attack me. Instead she was more interested in that." Sasuke pointed back to her and Trunks followed his finger to see a little spot of charred pink fur, hiding with her. But Trunks couldn't see it clearly, so he didn't know what it was.
"Is that a toy?" Trunks asked himself. "Wait a minute, you're saying a Venom didn't try to attack you? Are you sure?" Trunks had to get up to ask him that, but that gave the girl a full view of the Umbras cube in his hand. It made her more anxious at the sight of it.
She doesn't remember a lot about her life. At best she would get flashes of pieces of memories, that bring out different emotions, ranging from happiness to fear, but there is a memory that is always easy to remember and crystal clear. The sight of the cube brought up that memory. The memory of a sweet motherly voice, telling her to find those boxes and grab them before the bad men do.
She did not know her, but for some reason she didn't want to disappoint her. She didn't want her to be mad at her. So, while these bad men were talking, the little Venom moved herself to a better position, sitting near the hood. She first thought about going to the trunk, but that man with the strange eyes scared her. However, the purple haired man made her feel safer, so she'll go to his side.
When she saw the perfect opportunity, she lunged with the speed of bullet towards the cube. She almost grabbed before she felt her entire body stop mid-air. "Sorry kid." Was the last thing she heard before something smacked her neck and she passed out.
Trunks was aware of what the Venom was trying to do and he was ready for her. When he caught her, he muttered an apology before he chopped the back of her neck, causing her to pass out. But as much as Trunks was happy to catch another Venom, just with the other Venom he defeated, this made him feel the same way: downcast. These people were not in control of themselves. He can see that! So whenever he defeats one Venom and they disappear into a cube, it feels like he's killing himself.
But this little girl did not disappear, so that means there is still time! But while Trunks was moving the girl to a more comfortable position, Sasuke spoke up: "I guess you're gonna try to save her." But Trunks ignored him, which made him scoff.
"Navigator, get back here." Within in a second of Trunks speaking to his wristwatch, Navigator reappeared.
"You called." Navigator said.
Instead of responding with words, Trunks merely showed the floating droid the little girl's limp body and Navigator understood what he was asking. Navigator then floated closer to her and scanned her body. It only took two seconds for Navigator to get the accurate results. "It seems you're in luck. The girl's humanity is still intact." This made Trunks sigh in relief.
"Alright, then remove the cube." Trunks begged.
Navigator only nodded before a small, projector-like device came out of his chest. A blue light shined over the girl's body, covering her from head-to-toe. As the light continued to shine over her, her body started to change. Her grey skin slowly turned back to a normal Caucasian and her hair also slowly turned back, from grey to a light chestnut. She still had that same Navy sailor outfit on, but the colour changed to its original white.
The cause of her initial change was floating above her body. It was a pure black, metallic cube with red lines running along its surface, pulsing like veins from a beating heart. Just like the one in Trunks' other hand.
When the cube was fully extracted, Navigator then absorbed it into the projector, in his chest and he did the same with the one Trunks held. "Good job, but there's still more around." Trunks said.
A small antenna then popped out of his head. "I'm on it." Navigator said before he floated away. He made his way to the area where Zac beat the ninja Venom and he noticed both bodies of Cody and Kuroka, still unmoving. His analysis stated that Kuroka was still alive and she wasn't in danger of dying. His antenna then picked up the signal from another cube. He came to the building where the Venom crashed through and lifted it out of the debris before absorbing it. Navigator then went to crater, where Trunks finished off his opponent and repeated the same process with the Venom lying there, leaving behind the body of a man with a darker shade of chestnut hair.
Navigator then went back to Trunks. "I have absorbed all the Venomised cubes in the area, but there are others, injured. I would like to take all of them back to basecamp for immediate medical treatment." Navigator said.
"All right, we'll wait for you then." Trunks said, before Navigator and the girl disappeared. He turned to Sasuke and said: "We still need to find Freddy Cormack."
But Sasuke merely looked at him with indifference before he sighed. "Don't bother." He said.
"Yeah, don't bother." Trunks heard Freddy say from behind him. He turned to see him standing a few meters away, holding his left shoulder. "Thank, f*** I didn't you're help with that, otherwise you would have f***ed that up too!"
Despite being caught off guard, Trunks was glad to see Freddy was okay. But before he or Sasuke could say anything, Freddy cut both of them off. "All I asked, was for the director to send back up, but instead he sent three f***ing morons!" Now this made Trunks step back in shock.
He moved closer, painfully and slowly. "If all of you just did what I told you, then no-one would have died! You stupid sons of bitches!" Freddy was fuming and all that anger was aimed at Trunks. "You're stronger than us. You could have easily dealt with all of them, without breaking a sweat, but NO! Instead you wanted play Dr. Phil and look what happened. Cody's dead, because you wouldn't take action! How can you be Vegeta's son if you're such as a wuss?!" Freddy was actually fighting back tears.
Trunks kept a stone face as he listened to Freddy venting his anger. But that last one, crossed the line. On the one hand, he could understand why Freddy was angry, but on the other hand, he also felt like he was going way to far with this.
Sasuke, however did not take what he said lightly. "If you want to blame someone, then blame yourself." Sasuke said, shocking both Trunks and Freddy.
"What... the hell did you say?!" Freddy growled.
"You heard me. You're weak and pathetic." Sasuke coolly responded.
Freddy looked like he wanted to pummel him into the ground and was willing to, despite his injuries. However, Trunks was not going to allow that. "That's enough." Trunks said, stepping in front Freddy. "The mission's over and now's not the time for us to fight among ourselves."
Freddy really wanted to rip his head off. He was glaring down into Trunks' eyes and if looks could kill, Trunks would be dead a hundred times over. However, when he looked back at Cody's body, that was just left there, he silently agreed with him. "You're right, but we're not the f***ing winners." And then he turned around to walk away.
Trunks, sadly could only look at his back as he walked away. Sasuke on the other hand, was glad he walked away. He was getting annoying.
Navigator then came back, but he didn't say a single world before he teleported all three of them back to the basecamp, leaving Freddy alone. He hated this, the fact that he barely did anything other than lose, while the other guys did nothing but win made him furious. On top of that, one of them was a new recruit. Someone who should have been running away and hiding somewhere, instead took down a Venom when he didn't!
The thought made him kick another overturned car, back onto his wheels, while he gnashed his teeth and cried tears of anger.
