"You are acting weird, baby", Bianca said as she pulled Arya into the bedroom.
Of course, she was.
"I miss you that's all", Arya responded.
"First of all, your honeymoon was cut short. Secondly, you're asking to sleep in my room. Something is wrong", Arya replied, squinting her eyes in suspicion.
Arya swallowed.
"You know I can read people right", Bianca added.
Choosing her words carefully, Arya said, "You are right. I am a bit mad at Leonardo, that's all".
Well, that was not exactly a lie.
"I knew it", Bianca said, jumping like she solved a murder case.
"Bianca calm your horses", Arya said.
"No, I won't. I pulled you out of the situation just in time. Mother would have suspected something was wrong", Bianca responded.
Arya laughed. It was the absolute truth.
"So you came here to avoid your husband right", she asked.
"Yes, I did", Arya responded.
"What a futile attempt! Don would break down the door if he wishes to. This villa is his property", Bianca said with a teasing smile.
"At least it's better than being there with him. I can have a little more time while he tries to break down the door", Arya responded, not exactly wanting to discuss about Leonardo.
Amelia had the maid move her stuff to Leonardo's room. If they were not on bad terms she'd have been ecstatic but now, she dreaded the thought.
Funny how life can be cruel.
"And you only came to me when you had no where to go. Not fair", Bianca said, pulling out a pajama set from her walk in closet.
She gave it to Arya.
"That's not true. You're my only friend", Arya replied taking the pajama from her. Left for her, she'd rather wear a silk night dress but she did not have a choice now.
Typical.
She smiled bitterly.
She never had a choice.
"I know, I'm just pulling your legs. Do you know who the sender is?", Bianca asked.
"Sender?", Arya asked.
"Yes. The anonymous sender", Bianca responded.
How do you tell someone to shut up politely? Not that she hated Bianca but she wished not discuss about her fight with Leonardo now.
"No", Arya answered. There, she answered not wanting to say anything more.
"Whoever he or she is should ready for war".
"What do you mean get ready for war?", Arya asked, her curiosity taking over before she realized it.
Bianca chuckled. "Leonardo will find out the person behind that text and make them pay".
Arya rolled her eyes. She didn't give a fuck about that anymore or so she told herself.
"I just need a nice shower and a nice night", Arya said stepping into Bianca's bathroom.
"I have an idea", Bianca said, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Arya stopped in her tracks. "Which is?", she raised an eyebrow.
"A simple girls night out. Let's go out and have fun, what do you think?".
Arya gave it a thought. "Let's do it".
It's not like she had plans. She needed a distraction from her feelings.
"Yay!".
*******************************
"Don, she was not there", Rob said.
Leonardo had decided against going to Maria's house at the last minute.
"She moved out?", he asked.
"She was never a resident, her place was under a different name", Rob answered.
Leonardo knew Maria wouldn't be there hence why he decided not to go.
"Let me guess, someone else's rented the apartment in Maria's stead", he said.
"Yes, but there is more. The person's name is Emma George and she died a few weeks ago. From a gunshot wound", Rob finished.
Leonardo's head jerked upright.
Emma was one of his mistresses. Maria had been staying at the villa until he got betrothed and he still had her on his payroll so she could get a place for herself.
"Emma is dead? Look into that case as soon as possible", he said.
"Yes, Don", Rob said.
Leonardo wondered if Maria had anything to do with her death.
Killed by gunshot.
His guts told him that Maria was to blame. She killed Emma and moved into her home, what a bitch.
"Where has she gone?", he asked.
"No idea, boss. But I will get back to work and track her even if she goes to the end of the earth", Rob said.
Leonardo nodded and Rob left his room.
He laid on his back on his bed and stared at nothing in particular.
Maria would get what she deserved but he would make it slow and torturous. He couldn't care less about Emma but killing somebody for no reason didn't sit right with him.
Look who has got a conscience.
He grimaced.
He had never felt this way. The more he stayed with her, the more he wants to be a better man.
His mind strayed to his grandfather who had passed away.
Alberto, his father is not cut out for the Mafia life and so, the duty was passed on to him on his twentieth birthday. Before then, he spent his childhood and teenage years training for the position. His grandfather was getting older by the day so he had to step up and step in, fast.
Leonardo had doubled their legacy in a year and at his current age, he was the most successful and feared mafia lord in Italy.
He didn't get all this way with emotions. He had to bury them deep inside.
But Arya...
Arya breezed in and now, he doesn't know how she got under his skin and triggered his emotions.
He looked at his phone or more accurately, the pictures of her on his phone. The picture of her on her red wedding dress was his favorite even though he never approved of the dress, initially, of course.
Funny how she dictated what he liked and what he didn't. His second favorite picture on his phone was her on engagement dress. The picture had been taken unaware, and she had a real smile on, not the usual fake social smile but a real happy smile. She was talking to her mum and brothers.
He felt his chest tightening and he dropped his phone. He expected her to tell his family about the intended divorce but she didn't.
Why though?
He looked at his phone and saw a notification from Arya's location. He picked it up and zoomed into the precise location, a vein popping on his forehead when he realized where she was.
What the fuck was she doing at a night club?
He growled and moved out of the room with the speed of light.
