While he was thinking about money and his future, he heard the door beside him open. He looked at the person who was getting into the car and was unable to take his eyes off her.
The girl sat down comfortably and closed the door beside her before looking at Liam, "Oh hello, you must be the other special student. You can call me Amelia.", she said as she flashed him a smile, which he returned.
"Ah yes... you can call me Liam. It's nice to meet you.", he said and took his eyes off her. Her pretty face and red hair contributed to forcing him to look at her, which he tried his best not to do.
The driver looked behind him and spoke to the two kids, "Alright, let's get moving."
As the car's engine vibrated, the vehicle took off, speeding on the road.
"Okay, before we get to the academy, let me tell you about a few things. Firstly, the academy is not just a normal school. Instead, it's an entire district and compared to this state's capital, it's bigger and richer. After all, the entire planet's resources were pooled in to build the academy.
There are apartments, dormitories, bakeries, restaurants, hotels, and a lot more things. It's like a normal city but you'll find higher quality serums and genetic mutation stores. There are also a few more stores that are specific to the academy but the main difference is that there aren't many normal humans in the academy.
Most of them are graded humans who took serums and the second highest in population would be genetically mutated people. These two alone take up around ninety percent of the population and the other ten percent is filled by normal humans who are hired by the governments to take care of stores.
They don't make profits and instead, they earn salary since all the stores and properties belong to the government. Any questions?", he asked as he kept his eyes on the road.
Liam and Amelia exchanged a look among themselves before the girl decided to ask first, "Um sir, what about the rules? Also, if I don't like the dormitory or the food, am I allowed to move out and live in an apartment?"
"Yeah you can do whatever you want as long as you are a student or a worker in the academy. Though, dormitories are free and apartments are pretty pricey. So unless you have a stable source of income or if someone is giving you money, it'll be a bad choice to live alone in an apartment.
Also, dormitories are safer even though you'll be giving up your privacy and space since you'll have to share your room with a few others. I suggest that you focus on your studies or extracurricular subjects that can help you get the job you need when you graduate.
Don't get into trouble with those super rich guys who were born in the academy. It'll only bring you a headache. Even though the academy rules will protect you, it cannot stop those people from harassing you daily.
Both of you have good looks and you're also both special students. Which means that you're not from this planet and this also means that you don't have anyone to support you when things go bad. People will take advantage of it."
Once the driver was done speaking, everyone in car went silent. Two of them were engrossed in their own thoughts while the last one was silently driving the car.
"So in the end, it's better to use the dormitory until I graduate... haaa I guess that's fine.", Liam said as he did not really care too much about living alone but the girl beside him seemed disgruntled.
The rest of the drive went silently and once the car stopped, Liam and the girl got out.
"Thank you sir, I hope you have a nice day.", he said politely before he shifted his gaze to the building that the driver was pointing at.
"Go in there and tell the receptionist your name. She'll tell you your room number and give you the key. As for you miss,", he said as he turned to look at Amelia, "Girls dormitory is on the other side and it's the same for you. Just talk to your receptionist. See you guys later."
Liam looked up at the large building for a few seconds before walking towards the entrance, "I guess we'll meet each other soon when classes start.", he said as he walked away from the girl.
Getting to his room did not take much time as the receptionist was efficient. All she had to do was tell him his room number and give him the key.
'271...', he thought as he stared at the door in front of him before he opened it and walked inside.
The dormitory wasn't too extravagant like his hotel room but it was pretty decent. There was one bathroom, one bedroom with two beds, a mid sized kitchen and finally, a toilet. The bedroom was pretty big and even the beds themselves looked like three people could sleep on one.
"Not bad...", he muttered as he looked at the clean bed before glancing at the one that had empty potato chips bags sprawled around the bed and on it.
He heard the sound of water splashing from the bathroom and shook his head as he jumped on top of his bed. Beside his bed, he could see his suitcases and travel bags placed neatly in front of the bedside table.
'Looks like my roommate is a messy guy... I just hope he isn't annoying.', he thought as he turned to look at the bathroom door, which to his surprise, opened just then.
A guy with lean muscles walked out while drying his hair with a towel. The only problem was that the rest of his body wasn't covered in any way.
"Oh god...", Liam said as he turned around and acted like he had seen nothing but to his dismay, his roommate seemed more than excited to see him.
"Heyy, so you're my roommate huh? My name's Nolan hehe, what's... oy look at me bro!"
"Hearing his voice getting nearer, Liam angrily shouted, "You fucking idiot! Put on some clothes first, you exhibitionist psycho!"
