"Everyone clear the area now!" Ida shouted but his orders were drowned out by the building slowly collapsing above them. Luckily the paramedics and rescued civilians hardly needed Ida's encouragement to avoid being crushed by several thousand tons of metal and concrete. But Ida could already tell people weren't moving fast enough, not that he could blame them. One out of three people possessed some form of crippling injury either it be a broken limb or a concussion.

A massive crack echoed through the air and Ida spun around to see one of the ice pillars crumble into pieces some large enough to be mistaken as ice bergs. Like a domino effect one pillar became two, then three as the listing skyscraper the pillars had been supported fully collapsed it's top half snapping off and crashing into its neighbor.

'Todoroki nearly froze to death keeping the buildings, even if he somehow made it here in time he won't be able to accomplish much.'

Screams of pure terror echoed through the air as those fleeing around Ida either hurried in their escape or froze on the spot as a shadow was cast over them.

Gritting his teeth Ida stared up at house size pieces of rubble started to rain down from above picking up speed as they crashed into each other shear off smaller chunks that while not as big as their parents could still crush those that had entrusted Ida to protect them.

"Howitzer Impact!"

Ida's eyes shot open as a familiar voice roared and he looked up to see a spiraling spear of smoke slam into one of the larger chunks of debris before exploding with enough force to pulverize the surrounding chunks into pebbles. A second later the smoke cleared revealing Bakugo flying through the air with his explosions and blasting apart every piece of rubble that he could reach. But Bakugo alone wasn't enough to stop the avalanche, not to mention the remaining upper half of the building that was quickly picking up speed as he hurled towards the ground on a collision course.

Ida bent his knees as the engines along his calves roared to life spitting massive gouts of blue flame, 'There are people that need your help Tenya, now's not the time to sit around, don't think just move, and don't stop moving.'

Like a race car taking off Ida's engines roared as he took off becoming a blur as he took off to the nearest group fleeing and scooped them up in his arms before they even realized what was happening.

After clearing the impact zone Ida came to a stop dropping the father and daughter unceremoniously to the ground before turning around in a wide arc as he tried to maintain his speed.

'Engine wasn't built for this,' Ida thought as he slid to a stop before taking a woman in his arms and pushing back off the ground, 'Out running danger and covering long open distances is its speciality…but precise movements and turning on a dime…'

Ida grit his teeth as he came to a sudden stop while his legs started to scream in protest from constantly starting and stopping withouting the proper space to decelerate, 'Right now there's no way my body can keep up…but I can't let that stop me.'

Ida ignored the pain radiating from his lower half as he pushed himself, forcing his turns to be tighter and tighter as he pushed off the ground with each stride and enough force to crater the ground. Ida had long ago tore through his shoes meaning he was running across the ground barefoot leaving the bottom of his feet blistering and bleeding.

But still he didn't stop, nothing would make Ida stop, he needed to keep going, he needed to be faster, he needed more control. Ida felt the radiating heat from his calves begin to creep up his body as his bones began to ache like the world's worst growing pains. Gritting his teeth Ida was forced to stop as he felt the skin along his hands, arms, spine and ribs split open as new engines grew from his bones.

As soon as his evolution finished Ida took off again, while most quirk users had no idea what to expect from their evolutions Ida came from a long line of pro-heros each who possessed the same quirk as him. Even if there was some variation from person to person, the overall themes stayed consistent.

'Thank you,' Ida muttered a quick prayer as all of his engines fired at once, greatly improving his speed and more importantly giving him the ability to change his movement using short but powerful bursts from his hands.

But in the split second Ida had paused to complete his evolution the toppling skyscraper had traveled tens of feet and Idea realized there was nothing he could do to stop it.

Just as Ida was about to rush in for one last attempt to save who he could, an invisible but tangible ripple passed through the air. And Ida turned around to see a writhing wave of living shadow.

Kenji's eyes glowed like miniature purple suns as the abyss coursed through his body threatening to tear apart his body on an atomic level reducing him to nothingness. But Kenji managed to walk the fine line between life and utter annihilation.

[This is foolish and short sighted]

'I told you to shut up,' Kenji growled back in his mind as he rose into the air channeling more of the abyss through his body. Now with the system purged from his soul there was no hard set limit on how much Kenji could manifest, but he quickly realized why Lucifer had wanted to restrict his ability to tap into the other dimension.

Kenji stood atop of a giant hundred foot wave of rippling abyss that surged forth across the ground towards the toppling towers.

[You do not understand, every time you channel the abyss in the physical realm it becomes a doorway. While my presence will desaude most, you are dangling a five course feast in front of a starving pack of wolves. Eventually their hunger will overcome their rationality and they will break through!]
