Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 : Getting 10 draws for free. (5)

Han, Jenna, Dajil, Grete, and Gael have arrived!

"Why haven't the people who left come back?" Dajil muttered.

Gael, who was lying down and groaning, spoke up.

"Listen, noble fairy. I have arthritis, and I can't walk anymore. Please exclude me."

"Arthritis? You've been walking just fine," Jenna shouted.

"What am I supposed to do if it suddenly starts hurting?"

I shrugged my shoulders and entered through the front door of the square. The interior was a spacious circular room with towering mirrors, each one larger than 10 meters. Information about the dungeon appeared above the mirrors.

"Climb the tower and save the world!"

"Main Dungeon: Current climbing floor 0"

"A daily-changing feast of dungeons!"

"Weekday Dungeon"

"Access denied! Clear Main Dungeon 5th floor."

"Collect various rare materials!"

"Exploration Dungeon"

"Access denied! Clear Main Dungeon 10th floor."

Except for the mirror on the left, the other two mirrors were pitch black.

So, that's how it is.

The feeling of looking down as a master and looking up as a hero.

There's a world of difference.

It's okay. I can do it. I can't die in a place like this without even knowing the reason.

That determination alone chilled my rationality.

Shortly after, the rest of the team came in through the space tear.

I have arthritis!

Just come for now. Well live and die together! Jenna encouraged.

[Noisy, noisy, its noisy! Be quiet and get ready.]

So, what do we need to prepare for?

Ive never even held a spear

[Main Dungeon, current challenge floor is 1st floor.]

[The door will open in 10 seconds. Get ready!]

I glanced back at the team. Jenna and Gael were arguing, Dajil was sweating, and Grete was shaking in a corner.

Is there anyone here who can be of use?

I let out a sigh.

The mirror on the left started to glow.

The light intensified, blocking my view and filling the room.

What is this light!

Dont panic! Its beginning!

I yelled. It was a message for the team, but also for myself. In this world, I only have myself to rely on. If I lose control, its all over.

I repeated it to myself like a mantra.

And when the light faded, I found myself in an unknown place.

[Floor 1.]

[Mission type Subjection]

[Objective Annihilate the enemy!]

A soft breeze blew.

An endless plain stretching into the distance.

Wait, where are we?

Where else could it be? Its a battlefield!

I tapped my shield with the old iron sword.

Four goblins had gathered approximately 10 meters away. They were wearing iron helmets and carrying bent swords. One of them even had a sling.

[Goblin Lv.3] X 4

They had leveled up by 2 since the tutorial.

The goblins' eyes glowed red as they noticed us.

I've told you before, if we don't fight, we'll be wiped out. So, pull yourselves together.

As I spoke, I glanced back.

No one was there.

Damn it.

[Jenna() is filled with fear. All stats decreased by 30%.]

[Dajil() is filled with fear. All stats decreased by 30%.]

[Grete() is filled with fear. All stats decreased by 30%.]

[Gael() is filled with fear. All stats decreased by 30%.]

The four of them were running around in a panic, unsure of whether to move forward or backward.

Gael, who claimed to have arthritis, was surprisingly the fastest.

I had expected this, but I didn't anticipate them being this useless.

Gael stumbled at the edge of the field and fell down. The other three followed suit.

Ouch! My back!

Why is it stopping us?

Open up! Let me out! I need to go to the bathroom!

[Dajil() falls into panic. All stats decreased by 50%.]

[Grete() falls into panic. All stats decreased by 50%.]

[Gael() falls into despair. All stats decreased by 80%.]

They huddled in a corner, showing no intention of fighting the goblins.

Dajil swung his axe at the wall, but his wrist gave out, and he collapsed. Grete struck the wall with her spear, and Gael must have strained his back because he couldn't get up.

Only Jenna returned, panting heavily.

Brother, if we defeat those goblins, can we leave?

Her pumpkin-colored eyes trembled, and she had cold sweat on her forehead.

But Jenna firmly held onto her bow.

You know how to shoot a bow, right?

My father was a hunter...

"Can you handle providing cover fire?" I asked Jenna, my tone edged with urgency, hoping she could contribute from a distance.

Her response came swift and resolute. "Absolutely!"

As she readied her bow, a wave of unexpected fear swept over Dajil and Grete, their faces contorted with despair.

"What about them?" Jenna glanced back, concern flickering in her eyes.

"Don't fret over them. They're liabilities. Let's press on!" I urged, determination fueling my words as I propelled us forward into the heart of danger.

Summoning every ounce of strength, I gripped the shield firmly in my left hand, its weight unfamiliar yet reassuring. With the sword in my right hand, I charged ahead, knowing there was no turning back.

The goblins advanced, flinging rocks with reckless abandon, but I stood firm, raising the shield just in time to deflect their projectiles. The impact reverberated through my arm, a stark reminder of the peril we faced. Lowering the shield, I countered a goblin's sword strike with a swift thrust of my own.

The goblin recoiled, its arm slashed deeply, as I seized the moment to reassess our situation amidst the chaos.

"Why are there only two of them?" I pondered aloud, surveying the battleground with a wary eye.

It became clear that the other goblins had diverted their attention to our panicked companions. Despite their approach, Dajil, Grete, and Gael floundered in fear, their movements hindered by uncertainty.

"Jenna, focus! We need cover!" I urged, hoping she could lend support from afar.

With a determined nod, Jenna drew her bowstring, her aim steady as she prepared to unleash her next shot. But as the arrow flew, it narrowly missed its mark, grazing just above the goblin's head.

"Damn it, I missed!" Jenna cursed, frustration evident in her voice as she scrambled to reload her bow.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, I resolved to engage the goblins head-on, aiming to eliminate the immediate threat before turning my attention to our faltering allies.

Fortunately, those guys acted as bait, allowing us to defeat the monsters one by one. I charged at the goblin, gritting my teeth and clenching my arm. I deflected a flying rock and blocked his sword with my iron sword, then struck him with my shield!

The goblin fell to the ground with a thud.

Great, I can do this. I can definitely do this! I plunged my sword into the fallen goblin's chest.

The goblin foamed at the mouth and dropped its head.

I didn't look back.

There's still one left, a ranged goblin with a sling. I held up my shield and charged. The goblin started slinging rocks, but they were blocked by my shield.

Choosing the shield was the right decision.

From behind, I heard a desperate scream and a squelching sound. It was an unpleasant sound, like flesh being torn apart.

The goblin in front of me started running.

Where do you think you're going?

I tackled the fleeing goblin from behind. It tried to hit my forehead with a rock, but I blocked it with my shield.

Hail to the shield, you bastard!

I thrust my sword into its exposed ribcage. It scraped against the bones, but I ignored the sensation and thrust it in deeper. After pulling it out, I stabbed it again.

Thud, thud, thud, thud!

After doing that four times, I let go of its hand, and the goblin crumbled like a wreck.
