After everything I had gone through I finally rested, the self-inflicting of pain was mind-consuming, but I came out alive stronger and better than before.
I stood up and let out a turbid breath, right now akpobor skin was glistening under the sun, his skin felt so smooth, and all the locs in his head had fallen off with new hair growing to his neck, he had become taller than before with his muscles more refined, and his brown eyes had changed to blue eyes.
"It's time for you to go now, the wolf will be suspicious If you waste more time, and if he asks how you changed like this tell him you ate a mysterious fruit"
Yes, I had to go now the hunting trial would soon be over, and my tribemate would have started going to the tall palm tree or some might have gotten there already.
"Thank you," I bowed my head in sincerity, for everything she had done for me, if not for her I would have died multiple times.
"Take the box with you," she said calmly with a smile on her face, her voice enchanting and pleasing to hear.
I took the box and had one last look at the temple, the wind blowing leaving my hair floating as I had an awe-inspiring pose, the hair covered my eyes seconds later.
Argh
I wasn't used to this type of hair, it was locked so it didn't disturb me while I was in the wind, but now it's different, I picked a long grass and used it to tie my hair at the back giving it a ponytail look.
As I walked out of the temple I passed through the room of the snake, this time none of them dared to come close, the sheer aura I was excluding made them back off. (another awe-inspiring move)
Reaching the garden area, I remembered when I just come in and started jubilating just because of the fruits, but now I couldn't even bring them out with me to eat on my way back, I sighed as I walked out of the temple gate.
Not even minutes after I left the temple, while walking in the direction of the river the wolf came to me.
"Hmm, what happened?" How did your look and body change drastically in just a day? Tell me what happened!, I quickly told him what the lady in the temple told me to tell him. " I found a fruit there and I ate it then this happened."
"I felt my body get full of energy like it was about to explode, and then this happened, all my old hair fell off, my skin some parts fell off after then new ones came, new hair and skin."
"Ohh, what about the treasure is it what you are holding in your hands?"
"Yes," I replied quickly trying to end the conversation.
I gave it to him, and as he opened it right there I felt the familiar refreshing energy.
"So it's the real deal, but it seems time has done a lot on it, a lot of its essence has dried up already"
" There's no reason to make you cross a threshold again, you already ate a mysterious fruit that would help you when you are training for that threshold."
I didn't think much of it, the lady already told me it was going to cheat me, the only reason she gave me the heart was so it wouldn't kill me because I was the chosen one or some sort, and she couldn't leave the temple for some reason to protect me, ahh, I just remembered, for some reason, I forgot to ask her her name.
The wolf quickly disappeared into the surroundings, I arranged myself and searched around me to check if I left anything at the temple.
I readied my hunting knife, for any variable in the process of getting to the tree, I could hear the familiar sounds of birds chirping, the sound of running water nearby, and the smell of fresh wood all around.
I walked back barefooted, the things to protect my legs had already gotten torn in the fight with the snake, but this wasn't a problem for me, after the refining of my body even stones were crushed beneath my feet with the sheer weight I wanted.
While he walked through the forest alone, Eruvwu, Eseoghene, and Ovie were still crying. Egbo had died, the bear hit a vital part of his body causing internal wounds and making it hard to breathe and he died with loss of air.
The anger and hatred in them allowed them to kill the bear who attacked them, the fight wasn't difficult then which made them get more angry at themselves, if they all fought seriously from the start nothing bad would have happened.
After they all mourned for some time Ovie stood up wiping his tears, saying.
"Egbo's dead we all know, but if we don't leave here soon enough we'll be dead too, the bear is a strong creature, many different beasts strong or weak would be rushing just to eat parts of its body, and if we are seen here we would just be treated as extra snack"
I know I might seem mean, but if we seriously don't leave here soon we will die! we already buried his body, while we go to the palm tree we will leave markings on trees so that when we get back to the tribe Egbo body would be discovered soon.
Ovie went to the bear, removed his sword from its mouth, then he started cutting it's teeths, paws ears, and the skin.
While ovie was doing this, Eruvwu and Ese both stood up wiping their tears, they put the blame on themselves, but they knew of they didn't leave this place they wouldn't even be alive to mourn him later.
Ovie used the bear skin to wrap the other parts of the bear and put it on his back, he saw the girls all ready.
"Lets go" Ovie said.
