Indra and Dewi finally arrive in Los Angeles, USA after a long flight. They are quickly taken to a 5 star hotel where they'll stay and discuss the raid. There are some S-Rank Hunters from other countries that arrive in the USA at the same time as them, so they move together.
On their way there, Indra has already sensed the massive magic power that leaks from the Gate from the airport. He keeps looking at the Gate's direction even though it can't be seen yet with all the tall buildings blocking it.
"What are you looking at, little bro?"
"The Gate, I feel that the magic power leaking from it is much higher than I thought."
"Ah, so the Gate is in that direction, huh? No wonder I feel anxious every time I look there. How is it compared to the A-Rank Gates we've raided?"
"It's like the sky and earth. Those A-Rank Gates are nothing compared to this S-Rank Gate. If an A-Rank Gate breaks in our place, then only a city will be destroyed at most. But I feel that if this S-Rank Gate breaks, then the whole of Bali will be destroyed and even Java if the monsters can cross the sea."
"That much?!"
"It's just my estimation based on the magic power leaked from this S-Rank Gate and the A-Rank Gates we've raided."
They talk in Indonesian, but of course, their assistant from the USA's Embassy in Indonesia understands what they say. The assistant thinks that Indra might be exaggerating, but if it's true, then it will truly be a disaster if the Hunters can't stop the monsters in the S-Rank Gate.
However, the assistant is very impressed by Indra who can feel the magic power leaking from the S-Rank Gate even though they are still far. He knows that Indra must be very sensitive to magic power because Dewi can't feel the Gate's magic power even though both of them are S-Ranks.
After 15 minutes, they finally arrive at the 5 star hotel that's surprisingly located very close to the S-Rank Gate. The Gate is on the same street as the hotel, so they can see it before entering the hotel. Dewi's eyes are very wide as she looks at the Gate's size.
"Such a massive Gate. We'll be able to see it from afar if not for the tall buildings around it."
Indra doesn't say anything and just follows the assistant to the hotel. He plans to inspect the Gate later after asking for permission. For now, he knows he needs to finish some formal procedures first.
A staff of the Federal Hunter Bureau welcomes them and guides them into the hotel. While walking to their rooms, they are told that the meeting for the raid will be held tonight in the hotel's conference room on the 2nd floor.
"Can I go to check the S-Rank Gate?"
"Excuse me?"
"I just want to see the Gate up close. Don't worry, I won't enter it before the scheduled raid."
"Uh, I'm sorry but I can't make a decision about it. I will ask my superior first and call you later."
"Alright."
Indra and Dewi get rooms next to each other. They don't bring much luggage, so they settle in their rooms quickly. Sometime later, Indra gets the permission to get closer to the Gate, and Dewi obviously joins him.
As he stands right in front of the S-Rank Gate, Indra can truly feel its massive magic power and it's just the leaking magic power from everything inside this Gate. It makes him understand how the raid for this Gate almost failed and only succeeded with a lot of sacrifices.
"Horrifying, isn't it? The magic power coming from this Gate makes those A-Rank Gates look like child's plays."
A man with short wavy brown hair who also looks at the Gate closely suddenly talks to Indra.
"Ah, can you speak english?"
"I can, don't worry, and yeah, it's the most horrifying Gate I ever felt. The monsters inside must be very powerful."
"Well, they speculate that the monsters in this Gate are as strong as A-Rank boss monsters excluding the dungeon boss. No one can predict how strong the boss is. By the way, I'm Reed, Cristopher Reed, an American Hunter."
"I'm Indra Smith from Indonesia. Mr. Reed, are you a Mage?"
"How do you know?"
"Hehe, I'm just sensitive to magic power. Hunters' magic power feels different depending on their abilities. It's quite difficult to differentiate fighter types, but it's easy for Mages. Also, Mages are usually more sensitive to magic power, so they will be more curious about the S-Rank Gate's magic power."
"So that's how it is. Seems like you are more sensitive to magic power than me. Are you a Mage too?"
"Well, in a sense. I'm a healer, so I'm still categorized as a Mage, but with Healing magic."
"An S-Rank healer, that's rare. It's reassuring to have a healer in the team. I hope you can save me if I get injured badly then, hahaha."
"Please don't get hurt so I won't need to heal you. It'll be better if I don't even have to heal anyone and just get free money from this job, hahaha."
Indra is having a light conversation with Reed, but he's actually inspecting the man too. Reed's magic power is one of the strongest he ever felt from other Hunters. It's 2nd only to his sister who already has her magic power fully upgraded by Indra.
'As expected of a Ruler's vessel. Hmm? Do the Rulers still take vessels?'
There are a lot of S-Rank Hunters who come to see the S-Rank Gate too. Indra checks all of them, but their powers aren't even close to Reed and Dewi. They are still very powerful though, so losing them will be very bad for their countries.
But then Indra sees someone with a similar level of power with Dewi. It's an East Asian man with long hair. He guesses that it's Liu Zhigang, China's strongest Hunter. There are 3 S-Rank Hunters around him, most likely also from China.
'Seems like they have a clear hierarchy there seeing as how those 3 stand behind Zhigang so respectfully. Well, that guy's magic power is a little higher than even Reed although my sister is still stronger. So it's not strange for those 3 to be that respectful.'
Indra tries to look for Sung Il Hwan, but he can't find the man. In the manhwa, Il Hwan's face is similar to Jin Woo, so Indra will be able to tell if he's here because he still remembers Jin Woo's face clearly.
Night comes and the meeting for the raid finally starts at 8 pm. Indra scans the whole room and finds some individuals with power close to his sister. He thought there would be 6 of them, which are the 5 National Level hunters and Il Hwan, but there are actually 9 excluding him and his sister.
'If the only differences here are me, my sister, and Il Hwan, then 3 of those very powerful hunters must've died in the raid. They may not be able to defeat the Monarchs, but their deaths are still a great loss to humanity in this dangerous time.'
Indra sees a very tall and muscular man that stands out because he is bigger than anyone else even though he is sitting in the front which is on a lower ground. He is sure that man must be Thomas Andre who is also called as the Goliath because he dwarfs other people.
Then finally he finds the man he's been looking for, Sung Il Hwan. Il Hwan sits in the middle row, so it will be hard to find him if not for his magic power that stands out even among the S-Ranks. Indra is quite surprised because Il Hwan's magic power is a level higher than Dewi.
There are 2 people whose raw magic powers are stronger than Dewi here, which are Sung Il Hwan and Thomas Andre. But their magic powers are still much lower than Indra. He guesses that Jin Woo must've raised Il Hwan's power, but maybe this is already the limit.
It makes Indra curious about whether Andre already gets his power upgraded by Madam Selner to be this strong. So he checks and as he thought, Andre already gets his power upgraded. This means Madam Selner has been awakened too and already upgraded American Hunters' powers.
'Andre is close to Selner in the story, so it's not strange for him to be the 1st hunter who gets his power upgraded by Madam Selner. Reed's power has been upgraded too, so it seems the USA has already started utilizing Madam Selner's ability. Maybe they will try to reel in some S-Ranks that participate in this raid later.'
Indra doesn't see anyone else with upgraded magic power when he uses his Appraisal skill on everyone here. This means Madam Selner has just upgraded Andre's and Reed's power. Well, she can only use her skill a few times a year and she needs to use it a few times to fully upgrade one's power, so maybe she could only upgrade 2 people's power since she awakened.
Indra is led to his seat which surprisingly is at the 1st row while his sister is in the middle row. When he checks the hunters in the 1st row, he realizes that all of them are Healers. Behind them are Mages, then Tanks, melee fighters, Archers, and lastly Assassins in the last row.
It's quite unique how they group the Hunters based on the Hunters' classes. He guesses that it's designed like this to make it easier to explain and assign roles. Maybe it's also to make sure the Hunters don't feel a discrimination because they come from different Nationalities.
'But Healers in the front, huh? So typical. Raid teams always prioritize Healers because they are the lives of the teams. Though I never thought there won't be that many healers that join. Only 5 people including me, no wonder they were almost wiped out in the original timeline and Kamish could destroy almost the entire West Coast area.'
When Indra thinks of how annoying it will be to heal, buff, and debuff during the raid, the meeting starts.
