Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 Unexpected guest.

Day by day they were getting closer and closer to their goals and as time passed they learned more and more of the language.

The technologies they found within the database were also more and more sophisticated but the best part was that they were explained in an easy to understand way.

Before they knew it they had a drone network center built which helped them a lot.

From one station they could now control all the drones and check their status.

Also their army of drones grew bigger and more varied.

They now had scouting drones searching for damaged drones, and materials they required.

Transport drones whose main task was transporting any materials gathered.

Gatherer drones and droids,Scraper drones, repair drones and construction drones went up in numbers as soon as the fabricator was free.

Their next target was to build another fabricator and it took five days to produce parts for it plus another 2 days to build it.

Then it was used to create parts for the first fabricator and within hours it was repaired to 100%

-So kid, what's the next step now that we have two fabricators?

Mikael asked, admiring their progress.

-Actually I remembered a video on the internet that showed a device that generated power without any fuel and we really need more power .

Simon answered by pulling out a data pad with some handwritten blueprints.

-You see we need to build some electric engines and generators then we connect them in a way that will send the power generated by the generator into the engine to power it and the engine should be able to work with several generators while getting energy from only one of them while the rest will provide a power for us.

-Why don't we just build some more power generators that use water?

Mikael asked,he understood the process after he took a look at the blueprints but it looked like they would need at least four of the devices to match the output of a water fueled generator.

-Because we won't be able to supply enough water for the power we need and this device will produce power without any fuel and all we need to do is to jumpstart it.

Simon explained.

-But dont we get water from the atmosphere now?

-Yes we do,but this planet is quite dry so there isn't that much moisture in the air.

Our collectors can produce a maximum of 200 liters of water a day each but they produce barely a tenth of that just because there is not enough moisture to gather.

-In that case your plan makes a lot more sense.

Mikael finally admitted.

The beauty in this plan was its simplicity ,the fabricators produced the parts and drones put them together.

In one day they had twenty of the devices ready to go and thanks to the alien technology the devices didn't require any grease or oil to function as the movable parts were suspended in a magnetic field which meant that there was no friction.

They didn't forget to sell some materials because they didn't know if it was registered somewhere.

They decided not to risk it as someone might be monitoring that and if they suddenly stopped selling their materials then their secret might be found out.

Thanks to Alesia's crash landing they were almost sure that no one was watching them from orbit or in any other way.

-Why should they be watching us?

Simon said when they were discussing this topic.

-For them we are all primitive beings only good for some recycling work.

And the technology here is way too advanced for almost anyone to use even if they can decipher it.

Also I don't think that they realized that providing us with the books is enough for a curious species to start understanding and learn about their old tech.

He continued.

-Are you saying that the Federation aliens are looking down on us?

 Mikael couldn't hide his surprise.

-Think about it, They take us from our world as they please, then if we survive their experiments they dump us on this planet filled to the brim with their outdated technology, add to that the rules that state that we have to wait until our civilisation is advanced enough to make contact with them.

There is however one thing that worries me.

We are essentially prisoners who have to work in order to survive and we need to buy everything that we need or build it ourselves.

He said.

-That's quite reasonable if you ask me, even on earth you have to work to buy what you need.

Mikael said, seeing nothing wrong with it.

-That's not what I meant.

Consider this:

We are supplying them with materials and getting credits for them to buy our own tools, food, water, etc.

They also set up a rejuvenation treatment for a high price.

We also know that the federation is expanding.

All of that just screams to me that they see us as nothing more than slaves and they allow us to rejuvenate just so we will work harder to get the treatment and when we get it we will still work as hard and live longer to work,it's a closed circle.

It also shows that they need resources and according to my math we have provided them with hundreds if not thousands of tons of materials since i got here.

And that's just the two of us,who knows how many aliens are on this planet doing exactly the same.

Simon explained his suspicions.

-That doesn't make sense,if they need the materials then why don't they send drones to get them?

Mikael protested.

-Because if we live long enough then they can return us to our planet and play benevolent aliens who allowed us to survive and brought us home.

That will give them a better position when it comes to negotiations,in the end when they return us to earth then everyone will just be happy that we are back and all of humanity will feel indebted to them for returning all of the people they have taken.

And until then they have slaves to work for them for almost nothing.

It makes sense ,especially when you get to know that they have cryogenic technology so why didn't they just put us on ice?

Thinking about Simon's words,Mikael also started to connect the dots and he didn't like what he saw.

-You are right, when you think about it that way then we really are slaves but why did they go through all this trouble?

-So that we can say that they are great beings that didn't just kill us after they were done with us but instead let us live here and have a chance to return home not to mention that they have this law forbidding us to return until our civilization reaches a high enough level.

So when they return to us they can say that they were abiding by their laws and I'm sure that no one on earth will complain about that.

Further discussion was interrupted by a familiar figure walking in their direction.

They saw Steuner walking in their direction and swaying on his feet.

When he got closer they saw that he was wounded with scratches all over his body.

-Human friends,please help….

He fell to the ground before he could finish speaking.
