Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 A genius.

They both ran to the massive lizard lying on the ground.

He was still breathing but his condition was serious.

They took him into the shuttle and transported him to the regeneration capsule at the shop.

Steuer had barely enough credits to pay for his treatment, they couldn't use their own credits to pay because if they did then the capsule would reconfigure itself for humans.

It took a full day to heal his injuries but when it was done he walked from the capsule as good as new.

When he saw them waiting for him he immediately knelt down.

-Thank you friends, you saved my life.

He said with gratitude.

-Get up,we didn't do anything special and I'm sure that you would help us if we needed it.

Mikael said .

-What exactly happened and who injured you to such a state?

The old man asked.

-The day you helped me transport the materials, some of my tribe saw it and when i returned and explained to them that you were just helping me.

They told me that I should've taken the shuttle from you for the benefit of the tribe.

I tried to explain that under our laws you were a friend and that was impossible.

They argued that our laws don't apply to other species and we are not in our world.

Then they demanded that I tell them where you are so that they could take the shuttle from you.

I tried to explain that we don't know how to use it but they didn't listen and when I said that I won't tell them anything or help them take your shuttle they attacked me and then exiled me without any of my possessions.

I walked for many days to warn you to never go near the place we meet again.

-Thank you for all you have done to protect us and I'm sorry that you were exiled from your own people because of that.

Mikael said.

-Don't be sorry,They stopped being my people the moment they decided to break our laws.

Also I have a favor to ask.

Will you allow me to stay on your territory?

Both humans looked at each other in shock.

-Friend we don't have a territory so if you want to stay here we wont object as long as there won't be any problems.

Simon explained.

-Thank you friends,I will respect your rules and laws.

-Then welcome and as for your possessions then i think we can help with that.

They went back home and the lizard was stunned by all the machines around him.

-How did you do all of this?

Steuer asked when he found his voice again.

-We learned, and we managed to repair some devices.

-Then could you teach me how to do it?

-We can teach you some of it but it's mainly learning the language that helped us and reading the database in one of the ships.

Simon explained.

-I cannot read,my people don,t have symbols that can contain words.

-Then we can teach you how to read and write in our own language first and then you will be able to start learning the federation language.

Mikael proposed.

-Thank you, this is a great gift for me and my people.

-Don't worry about it, the knowledge should be shared, or it becomes pointless to learn it.

For now we need to get you a tracker for your new home and also some food, water and some tools.

Simon said while going to the drone network center.

He ordered the drones to load some materials into the shuttle.

Steur quickly figured out what they wanted to do.

-I can't take your materials,i Will go find my own to get what I need.

He protested.

-The thing is that you don't need to go looking for materials,we have drones for that so all we need to do is to unload them at the collection station.

Besides, if you want to learn then you will need a lot of time for it so it's better for you to use drones to do the work for you.

Steuer had to agree with the human.

If he went to look for the materials then it would take a lot of time.

They sold the materials and he could buy some food for himself and also some of the tools that he lost when he was exiled and what's the most important a tracker for his new home

They came back and Steuer found a ship that he was satisfied with located a few hundred meters from Mikael's home.

They rested for the night and the next day the lizard-man started learning english, writing and reading, also some math because he couldn't count if it went outside of his fingers which he had four on each hand.

Steuer turned out to be a diligent student and he had almost photographic memory so he learned fast.

After just a few hours he could recite a multiplication table and write full words.

He was also smart and learned the most basic concepts after explaining it once and he also asked a lot of questions.

He learned like his life depended on it and he was happy like a child when he grasped the skills that he previously thought were out of his reach like using the wrist computer to communicate and reading a map.

The more he learned the more he understood how much his people didn't know about what surrounded them.

He had to admit that his people were barbarians in front of other races and that made him appreciate the gift of knowledge he had received from humans that never looked down on him.

They treated him like he was one of them and even told him about their plans to escape this world and go back home.

That made him want to study even harder because he wanted to help them and he was curious about their homeworld.

Unfortunately for him he didn't know which system he was from so humans decided that if he wanted to he could go with them to earth and they would try to find his home world later.

After a month of studying Steuer was on the level of a highschooler and he also learned many new skills which shocked the humans.

He learned in a month what most humans had to learn for years and in their eyes he was a genius.

At the same time they managed to complete a bigger fabricator that was the size of a small house.

-Now we can start building the docks for our ships.

Simon said with a triumphant smile.

-Hold your horses kid, we still have a lot of preparations to do before we do that.

Mikael said with a smile.
