The boy smiled sweetly at her, noticing that her gaze had softened, and her answer was sincere, as sincere as it could be. "I am so happy! You are with the medics too, right? Is your sword real?"

She nodded. "Yes, I am their friend, and my sword is real." Kissenn addressed his words in a literal sense, in an attempt to get as distant as possible without hurting the boy's feelings.

Getting attached to any of those orphans would be devastating since their tenure in the Scrapyard would be short-lived, and they would go out one day.

Sooner or later, they would be forced to cut ties. Kissenn preferred to not develop any ties with someone who could not hold his own, or survive when push came to shove.

Besides looking like a pushover, Jello was savvy, while it could not hurt a soul, it could survive on its own. The same could not be said about the children there.
