I sat in the garden sipping tea with Sylphiette like nothing happened, like I hadn't attempted to commit suicide allegedly.
"So, kid, what will you do from now on?" she asked.
"What do you mean?" I asked, dropping my cup.
"You look terrible. There's no longer enthusiasm to do anything," she noted. "I'm just curious about what you want to do. Will you keep looking for a way?"
"I saw myself, Sylphiette. I was so close. But I've given up. I won't deceive myself with delusional thoughts of an escape," I said.
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying that I need a break from everything and everyone," I replied.
"Including Kaldor?" she asked, and my mind went back to the kiss.
"I… I guess," I said, feeling the heat on my cheeks again. Sylphiette looked at me and shook her head.
"You do know that now that you have nowhere to run to, you'd have to go back home, to Percandos," she said.
