When I was reading this book that I'm now in with the memories of a side character down to her dying breath. When I was reading this book, one thing I did not like was Jupiter's character, the fact that she has pink hair is annoying.
Pink hair is the symbol of being a female lead that has a nice and cheerful personality, and is cute. As a professional romance novel reader, it was total blasphemy. Then again, the whole story is annoying and makes no sense, so who am I to blame.
The way she was smiling and acting like her face implies makes me want to grab her hair and destroy that pretty face, but I now get why I fell for her the first time. I'm a new person now, and I will not fall for that pretty face again, I've seen prettier anyway.
"Oh my, Lady Jupiter? So you are the host of today's event," I said, curtsying.
"Yes," she said.
"I see, you did a fair job here," I said looking round to give my face a break from the unnecessary smiling. Acting might not be one of my strongholds but for you, Jupiter, I'm ready to learn. I'm sure she'd be annoyed by my comment, but that's the point. I need to remind her who the famous one is.
Jupiter has done worse things than I can imagine, I won't be surprised to hear that the reason they were away for so long is that she did something, and they needed to go away to avoid being caught. While she does terrible things, she never gets caught and makes sure to keep a clear name so she's not famous, but I, on the other hand, grew up in the Percando family and got famous by people's gossip and absurd rumors fueled by their assumptions, I'm popular on a national level while she has nothing.
"Your compliment is too much," she said, covering her mouth with the back of her hand. I know it's too much for you, but there's more where that came from.
"Was it a compli… I mean, it's nothing." I went a bit far there.
"Lady Rose, I'll really like to get to know you more," she said. Let me interpret what she just said, she just said, "I have some spicy information on you and would like to use you as my next puppet".
"Same here." I meant, "I'd appreciate it if we never see each other again".
"Where is your twin sister? I'll like to meet her as well." She's baiting me to see if I really feel indifferent towards Lily.
"Am I supposed to know?" I asked in return. She thinks she's the one with the fishing line, but I already caught her in my hook.
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said, trying to hide her grin.
"If you'd excuse me, this place is becoming suffocating," I said and walked away before she could stop me. I think I should just go home.
I walked outside allowing the late evening breeze to cleanse my exhausted soul, I looked up as it started to snow. It was nice, but I needed to get warm before I added to my sickness. I stepped out and waited for the carriage to come, I always wondered how they know when someone walks out, is there a communication device that the guards use to alert the coachmen?
I saw a boy standing outside with his hands in his pocket, he walked towards me, which was confusing. He looked like Poppy, but he was too tall to be that midget.
"I told you not to go," he said.
"Huh?" I was confused, who is this kid?
"I told you not to go," he repeated. I looked round to confirm that he was talking to me.
"Hold on, are you, Poppy?" I asked. His frown was all the confirmation I needed to know that he really was Poppy. "Poppy, why are you tall?"
"I eat healthy," he said sarcastically. He looked awful, he must be really sick, I need to find someone to help him soon.
"Let's go, Poppy, this is not the place to do this," I said. He eyed me and shifted into a dragon, but he was still tiny. "Why are you tiny?" I asked but got no response. Saucy brat!
"Lady Roseanne," Jupiter's voice sang from behind me. I sighed and turned, preparing my mind for whatever it was she wanted to say, I had a guess. "I'm sure we got off on the wrong foot, I apologize," she said. Saying "apologize" to me is just a polite way of saying "sorry, I'm not sorry".
"It's nothing," I said.
"Are you leaving?" she asked, taking note of Poppy. No, I'm just standing out here hoping to get frostbite.
"Yes," I said, really hoping she'd go straight to the point before I actually die of frostbite.
"So soon?" she said with a saddened expression. Fake bitch!
"I have to go," I said with an apologetic expression. I'm also a fake bitch.
"Can you come by tomorrow? Let's have a small gathering, I invited some ladies as well. I just got back and would appreciate it if I had someone to look out for me," she said, smiling.
"I only came to the capital for my débutante so don't expect much from me, but I'll attend your…" I took a long pause and looked at the building then back at her. "…gathering," I finished.
"Yes, sure, that would be great," she said, still smiling. "Your dragon is cute," she pointed out. Oh, I didn't know. "Can I touch it?" Of course not, stupid. And Poppy is not an 'it'.
"No," I said flatly. "He doesn't like when people do that," I said. And I don't like when people ask that, not like I'd let anyone touch him like a pet anyway.
"That's a shame," she said, looking down. "You can bring him tomorrow, I can tell you two are very attached to each other." Thank you very much, bitch.
"I see, okay," I said coldly, I couldn't smile anymore. "If we're done here, I'll take my leave," I said with a curtsy.
This 'gathering' must be Jupiter's excuse to meet her minions and screen the useless ones out, more reasons why she irritates me. She couldn't even wait five seconds before she started scheming again.
I don't want to go to her stupid gathering, I don't want to get involved with Jupiter and the four male leads. I want to move to a small house with an infinite supply of food and romance novels, is that too much to ask?
