A hand wrapped around my waist and caught me before I fell, I owe this person for saving me from embarrassing myself. I looked up first as I stood up straight and cleared my throat.
"Thank you," I said looking at the person who saved me from an embarrassing moment, changing it to a romantic one. Teal looking hair with dark brown eyes. Noooo! I moved away quickly that he raised an eyebrow. Rose had met the prince like twice when she was younger, but I'll pretend that I don't recognize him. "Thank you, kind sir," I repeated. I really need to quit the "kind sir".
"You're welcome," he said like I should know who he is. I curtsied and turned to Lily,
"Let's go," I said before they start having a romantic moment, the staring is enough for one night.
"Okay," she replied, smiling. "Thank you," she said to the prince and walked speedily to catch up to me. The carriage stopped in front of us and we got in. The moment we sat down Lily started laughing, she's so cute.
"What's funny?" I asked, confused.
"W… W… What you d… Did I… In there…," she hiccuped. "That was funny," she finished.
"Oh, you noticed I was just spilling nonsense?" I said and she nodded.
"Yes, because she was being rude," she said. I guess our dear main character is not totally dumb. I chuckled and said,
"Well, I am not a fan of being bullied." I meant something else. She stopped laughing and looked at me for a second, then shook her head and said,
"You can be scary."
"I know," I replied looking outside.
The moment the carriage stopped I ran out first feeling uncomfortable in my dress that was showered with wine few hours ago. I went inside my room and met Millie already there waiting for me. I told her about the ball, mostly about what I ate, and why I was soaked as I took off my dress.
"You shouldn't add to your list of people that dislike you," she sighed.
"I don't exactly care, besides I have a goal," I said confidently.
"Goal?"
"Yes, I would get fat," I said. She paused and looked at me through the mirror, she just sighed and dropped the hairpin in her hand.
"You shouldn't make such a scary joke, my lady," she said, shaking her head as she continued freeing my imprisoned hair.
"I'm serious," I said, but she didn't react. "I'll get fat to repel any suitors that may come my way," I finished. Millie pushed me up and led me to the bath, she didn't reply or react.
…
I woke up with a little headache, so I rang the bell. I stood up and walked to the mirror, I sat in front of it staring at myself or at her. Pretty face, blue eyes that weren't as scary as the last time I dared stare, I frighten myself sometimes. Long ginger red hair, endowed in the right places. How do I change this person to a fat cutie? I think I'd use that.
Millie helped me clean up and sat with me as I went through my emergency box. I had to break a sweet to see silver, to talk of copper, it was filled with gold. I don't care whose face is on it as far as I'm rich, and I'm stinking rich.
"I want to go to the library," I said, handing the box over to Millie.
"Okay, should I escort you to the library or should I pick a book for you?" She asked standing up to drop the box back in a drawer that I didn't know was under my bed.
Isn't it a public library? Oh! that's right, I'm rich. The Percando's mansion has its own personal library of selected books. I don't think I'd find what I'm looking for there, but I'll just try.
"I'll go by myself," I stood up straightening my dress. I need to read some romance novels, I've lasted three weeks. I aim to find a depressing romance novel, as someone that easily falls for characters, excluding Lily, I'm sure I'll find something or someone that'd do the trick. I need to be careful with what I read, the last time I read a random book I transmigrated, I don't want that to happen again. "Do you know what ice cream is?" I asked trying my luck.
"No, what's that?" Thought so. How can you have cookies, cakes, scones and all that but not ice cream?
"Can you get me sugar? I mean anything with a lot of sugar," I said walking out. I hope I don't get a toothache.
I walked straight to the library because I happened to know where it was, I shuffled round looking for something interesting and depressing. After a long time of searching, I finally saw something that piqued my interest. I picked it and walked back to my room.
I sat on the reading table by the corner and started reading. I don't know how long I spent reading, but I was hooked and didn't even notice it when someone walked in.
"Roseanne," I heard from behind me, I jumped in shock and turned to see who the intruder was. Oh, bummer!
Raphael was standing there staring at me blankly. I stood up to curtsy but he stopped me before I could, saying,
"You don't have to."
"Better," I muttered under my breath but he must have heard me because he shook his head. My back hurts from bending too much, over and over, so no one should judge me for expressing my joy that I didn't have to.
"I came to tell you that I'll be leaving soon," he said. How does that affect me? "You probably don't care, but I thought I should inform you," he said rubbing the back of his head nervously. I'm not that scary, right?
"I see, well, best of luck," I said and sat back down ready to continue my book. He most likely expected me to say something rude like f**k off or get lost, but I'm a nice person, sometimes. I continued the extremely sad book that had me hooked, writers in this world either have emotional instability or they've seen a lot. It was sad, interesting, everything I needed, but I couldn't concentrate because Raphael was still standing there. Why is he still there?
