Chapter 34 - City Of El Dorado 5

"You're acting weird, you're hiding something" he said not convinced. "You know what you'll be hiding if you don't go?, the great Owen Hargreaves soiled himself, now that'll be something worth hiding" I said as his face twitched before he went towards the place that read bathroom.

The moment he was out of sight, I took one of the stones and began to channel my energy, I willed and visualized it turning to a 'nexus stone'. Soon it turned to a grey ore with a faint blue color releasing a small hum coming from the cracks on it.

Nexus stones were discovered in certain mines a few hundred years after the emergence, It was one of the reasons humanity advanced this far in technology, it is mostly used as a power source for practically anything, but can also be used to increase bloodline condensation speed.

They are very expensive that one the size of a marble, which is roughly the same size as the one am holding currently, can be roughly priced at one million and above credits.

The wealth of any faction or clan is not measured by credits but by the amount of nexus stones mines they have and how big they are.

In fact there are so many things credits can't buy, for example in auctions only nexus stones can be used for bidding.

I used my ability on the remaining three stones also warping them to nexus stones. I walked up to the shop after I was done, it was a pretty extravagant shop. I saw what one would call a fat rich man with gold jewellery all around his body.

"Hey kid what business do you have in me comercio?" the man asked. I've never heard of the word 'comercio' but I know it roughly meant either shop or establishment. "I want to exchange this for credits" I said only showing him a single stone. "Hmmm, what do we have here, a nexus stones?" he asked recognizing it in an instant.

"Yes it is, so how much credits am I gonna get for this? I asked.

"This one is so small but since you're a kid, I'll give you five hundred thousand credits for it" he said like an uncle next door. "Yeah right, ones the size of this go for about one million five hundred thousand" I argued.

"Fine kid, one million" he said.

"One million four hundred thousand"

"1.1 million"

"1.3 million"

"1.2 million". "Sold" I said the moment he said 1.2, I knew it was just about the market price and he also knew it but still haggled. Like a wise man once said; if a business man doesn't know how to bargain then he's not a business man.

"You sure know the market kid, give me your account code?" he said. But there's just one problem though, I didn't have an account other than the one given by the government for the monthly allowance.

"Hmmm I kind of don't got one" I said. "Not a problem, we open accounts here, but it's gonna cost you" he said with a crooked smile. "How much" I asked.

"Nothing much, just a hundred thousand, take it or leave it" he said. I weighed my options for a bit, 'i'm probably not gonna get another chance to get an account anytime soon so, "Fine do it under the name; Adam Walker" I said. "Wait I have three more" I said bringing out the remaining three stones.

At the end I got 4.7 million credits in total and that was excluding the fee for the account. I arrived at the place Owen left me just in time to see him heading back. "Damn that trip to the bathroom took a lot of my shoulders" he said in a relieved tone. "You mean off your belly" I chimed in.

From the time he left to now, it only took less than ten minutes.

"A few minutes remain until 5pm, don't you think we should be on our way back to the meeting point?" I said. "Which one" he asked.

"The one our group is supposed to meet at the park in about one hour from now" I replied. "Then what's getting you worked up, relax we still have an hour to get there" he said.

"You do know that we tend to get lost right?" I asked rhetorically which shut him up.

We managed to make it to the rendezvous point about thirty minutes before the time. "You see what am saying, now we're the only ones here" he said. He continued rambling and complaining but I just tuned him out.

"Not long after Quinn arrived, but didn't speak a word to us, not until Owen said; "You idiot, I was calling you but you left us and went on your own".

Quinn didn't seem to be bothered and replied; "Owen, ever with the foul mouth, I see you really haven't changed much since you were a child.

You're a disgrace to the seven great families, and you've gotten so low that you're going around doing your usual shenanigans with a commoner" he said glancing at me, seriously this was the first time he even looked at me.

"He didn't speak to me, and I didn't see the need to entertain him either, so I simply ignored him but Owen did not."He's my friend you a**hole, oh I forgot you don't have any, must be so lonely for little ol' Quinn" Owen said in a melodramatic tone.

"What, it hit you that hard?" Owen asked trying to get a reaction out of him, and it seemed to work as his eye started twitching before he composed himself.

"Playing your little games is beneath me, I won't dignify your question with an answer" Quinn replied. I wonder who's more arrogant between him and Emo dude.

Before Owen could reply, we saw Aurora approaching, but what baffled me was that she was wearing entirely different clothes from what she was wearing this morning. Is she really that dumb or what?, Changing her clothes is like announcing to us that she was the one we saw at the zoo.

At least I'm glad she came now, because had Owen continued talking, a fight would have happened.
