As we trailed behind Tenzen, curiosity nudged me to turn toward Elara. "So, why'd you come with?" I asked, genuinely intrigued by her decision to join the discussion.
"Am I not allowed to, Alex?" she retorted, a hint of challenge in her voice.
"Of course you are, I was just surprised, that's all. You would usually skip these kinds of things in school," I responded.
Her gaze lifted from the back of Tenzen, meeting mine.
"This isn't school, is it?"
"Aha, that's true,"
"Well, going into this, I think we should hold a united front," I suggested, hoping to establish a foundation of teamwork.
Her eyes narrowed, scrutinizing my words. "So basically, shut up and let you do the talking huh Alex?" she questioned.
"No, no, of course not," I hurried to clarify.
"However, discuss it with me rather than with everyone if you have a problem, and I will voice it," I proposed.
Her gaze softened, returning to its usual discerning quality. "I suppose that works. It seems that unless we talk directly to them, they can't understand us"
"yes I noticed that too, it might come in quite handy"
-----------------------------
As Tenzen, Alex, Elara, and the assembly of dignitaries departed, I couldn't help but ponder the nature of their discussion.
"I wonder what they'll talk about," I mumbled, more to myself than anyone else.
"Alex will fill us in later, don't worry," Lily offered, mistaking my speculative musing for concern.
"I suppose so," I agreed.
It was then that the knight, previously instructed by Tenzen, stepped forward to address the remainder of us.
"Gather around, everyone. I am Sir Brook, Head Knight of the Primrose Kingdom. I will guide you to your lodgings," he announced before promptly leading us towards an exit opposite to the one taken by the leaders.
Exiting the amphitheater, we were greeted by a breathtaking night sky, unlike any we had known on Earth.
Stars sparkled with unparalleled clarity, and a foreign galaxy stretched across the heavens, painting a canvas that whispered of untold mysteries and magic.
The night breeze, crisp and invigorating, brushed past us, a stark contrast to the amphitheater's stagnant warmth.
"I can hear it," I found myself saying aloud.
"Huh? What do you mean, Drey?" Lily inquired, confusion lacing her words.
"The wind," I explained, a sense of wonder in my voice.
"It's happy."
Lily's puzzled look deepened. "I don't understand. How can the wind be happy?"
"Im not entirely sure my self, but- one of my skills allows me to sort of connect to the elements, I didn't really understand what it meant, but this"
"This is magical"
Lily's expression wavered between skepticism and curiosity as she regarded me, clearly torn between disbelief and the possibility of the unknown.
"Try one of your skills, just trust me on this," I suggested, hoping to convey my earnestness.
With a hesitant nod, Closing her eyes, she adopted a posture of deep concentration, her hands coming together in a gesture of invocation. As I reached out, intending to offer a reassuring touch on her shoulder, Lily's voice broke the silence, her words a whisper of power:
"-Open, Saint's Sanctuary-."
What followed was nothing short of miraculous. A golden radiance burst forth from Lily, enveloping her in a luminescence that seemed to draw the very essence of tranquility around her.
Above her, a halo of golden light shimmered, casting a celestial glow that seemed to cleanse the weariness from our bones, leaving a profound sense of peace in its wake.
The natural world around us responded, flora inclining towards the source of that serenity.
When Lily opened her eyes, they revealed a Golden ring sat just outside of her irises.
"Wow, this is amazing, Drey. You were right; this is magical," Lily exclaimed, her voice a mixture of wonder and revelation.
"Yes, it truly is," I agreed, my voice barely above a whisper, equally captivated by the display of power and its beautiful consequences.
Our classmates, drawn by the spectacle, paused to witness the scene, their expressions mirroring our own awe.
Even Sir Brook, a seasoned knight of the realm, watched in astonishment, I could have sworn I saw his jaw hit the floor.
As the golden light dissipated and the rings around her iris faded, the grass and flowers returned to normal, however the fatigue did not return.
"That's one hectic skill you got there Lily"
"Hahaha of course, it wasn't cheap you know"
As we were talking Sir Brook stepping towards us from behind.
"Indeed a very powerful skill, and I'm sure all you heroes are eager to try your own"
"However, this is neither the time nor the place"
"Please wait, you will have a chance tomorrow"
As he finished he once again turned around and walked away.
"Now come along young heroes follow me"
As we walked towards another large building that had striking resemblance to the Buckingham Palace, I noticed how comfortable I felt outside.
Never on earth did I feel this comfort outside, fresh breeze drifting past and green grass surrounding me.
As we arrived in front of the building Sir Brook stopped and turned around.
"This is the building you will be sleeping eating and "hanging out" in if you will."
"There is staff inside that will allocate your rooms and any requests you have should be told to them, if they cannot solve your issue someone of higher order will be notified and take care of it."
"Now please go inside, I wish our young heroes a good night I must join the others"
As we entered the building I turned around to see Sir Brook walking all the way back we had just came.
"Poor guy, he could have just told us to walk this way and follow the path" Lily said as she also watched him walk away.
"I guess that just shows how strict his training has been"
As we turned around to walk inside, the large oak doors closed behind with a load creak.
------------------
As we entered the grand hall, the sight that greeted us was nothing short of regal. Rows of maids and butlers stood impeccably aligned, each dressed in pristine uniforms that spoke of tradition and duty. In unison, they bowed deeply, their voices blending in harmonious respect. "Welcome, heroes. We will be serving you during your stay here," they said, their words echoing softly off the ornately decorated walls.
An elder butler stepped forward, his posture refined and his demeanor exuding wisdom and calm authority.
"We are honored to have you here," he said with a courteous nod.
"These attendants will ensure your every need is met. You have traveled far and faced much; rest is well-deserved. Please, follow me to your chambers."
We were guided down a wide corridor lined with elegant tapestries and illuminated by sconces casting a warm, golden glow.
Finally, we arrived at a series of grand doors, each marked with intricate symbols that seemed to shimmer faintly under the warm light.
The elder butler turned to address us, his eyes warm yet perceptive. "Each of you has been assigned a private chamber," he announced.
"These rooms are designed to provide comfort and help you recover from the trials of your journey. If you require anything, do not hesitate to call for an attendant. They will be ready to assist you."
His gaze swept over our tired faces, pausing momentarily on each of us. "Rest well tonight, heroes," he said with a note of gravity.
"Tomorrow, your tasks will begin, and many will look to you for hope. But for now, let the worries of the world melt away, if only for a night."
The doors to our rooms were opened by the waiting attendants, revealing chambers that seemed straight out of a dream.
My own room was adorned with a bed fit for royalty, draped with plush bedding, and silken curtains framing a grand window that offered a breathtaking view of the starry sky.
A soothing scent of vanilla and coconut lingered in the air, calming my senses and easing the tension in my muscles.
Taking a deep breath, I absorbed the tranquility of the space, feeling the weight of the day begin to release. The bed was impossibly inviting, and I couldn't help but let out a sigh as I dropped onto the soft mattress.
The events of the day swirled through my mind—our powers, the goddess's words, the desperate pleas of the people, and the magical moment with Lily.
It was almost too much to comprehend, yet in this moment of peace, I allowed myself to be grateful, if only for a chance to rest.
One by one, our group retreated into their rooms, each person embracing the comfort offered to them. The maids and butlers slipped away quietly, their tasks complete until morning.
The grand hall and corridors fell into a serene stillness, a calm anticipation settling over the space.
