Chapter 87 - The Loplin's Turn

A few sparkles was it took for a massive attack to leap out from her mouth which bolted to the rabbit who was supposed to be in hiding.

"Alright... With that attack, you've not only proven that you aren't worthy of claiming your innocence back, but you've also shown me that you are nothing more than a monster. Wallowing up in your own sins as if you're some pitiful creature..."

"I'm glad that you've turned into who you truly are!" roared the Dragoon as she focused all of her Elemental Energy into her physical strength.

"How dare you say such things?! You're nothing but a mere mortal! Who are you to define me?!" retaliated Arakaali as she shot out poison spheres at the running girl.

"I am the child of the Dragoons that sealed the Mother of Creation away... But most importantly, I am myself. I don't give a damn if you're a Goddess or monster... You've aimed your spell at my friend and you will pay!"

Matt and Sander both looked at each other before staring at the dancing Dragoon in disbelief. Her movements were fluid as if she was the calm streams of the river and yet they could feel the weight of her strikes from afar.

"I can tell that the Brine King is purely supporting her in terms of extra Elemental Energy... Other than that, her words and next course of action are all Layla's... It's been a decade since I've seen her so furious..." commented the impressed Ankou.

"How was she before?" asked Matt.

"She made Mount Sephirais erupt after more than a hundred years. Fun times..."

"And this is why I will never hang out with you."

The Loplin then took a deep breath and got ready to perform his spell again while the two ladies of the battlefield continued their feud.

"The Titanic Sun God... Guardian of Oaths and God of Sight. By day you drive your chariot from east to west across the skies. By nightfall, your carriage wraps itself to the northerly stream of Twilight..."

Matthoes closed his eyes and concentrated on linking with the bullet that Helios had given him. True to the Sun God's words, the seal on the Skillset had been fully broken and the rabbit had no issue grasping that single spell.

"That Loplin hasn't fired a single bullet at you for this battle yet you bore your fangs at him... You're nothing more than the monster you feared that you've turned into! Time to atone for your sins, Vastra Arakaali!"

"Why should I apologize for being a monster? Has anyone apologized for turning me into one?! I did nothing wrong! I tried everything in my stead to protect them... To make sure no one got hurt. I don't owe you lot anything!" screamed Arakaali as the area trembled.

The ceiling was slowly starting to cave in and Matt was at the prime of the spell. His hair and ears turned crimson red, with its tips having a tinge of gold. Circlets of amber flames adorned his wrists and the ones on his ankles were wings. His gun was at full power, with streams of the Loplin's Elemental Energy intertwined with it, making it look as if it was a robotic weapon running on flames.

Because he was so immersed in the spell, Matt failed to see the oncoming boulder falling on him. The Grim Reaper quickly handled that but he wasn't sure if they had very long as the chamber's foundation was wearing thin.

"And at the very end... The people who were supposed to praise me turned against me to curse me! Why can't a Goddess help the innocent?! What's the point of helping them if I get cursed instead?! It isn't fair... It's not fair that I am now a monster!" continued the spider.

"You are right, it isn't fair! You don't owe anyone any explanation for what you tried to do before you were cursed! They've wronged you! It's not your fault! It was never your fault!" hollered Layla as the Brine King's voice remained an echo to hers.

The spider recoiled in shock as the Dragoon blazed through her webs. How long has it been since she wanted to hear those words... From anyone... Because, deep down, somewhere along the years, Arakaali knew that she'd become the monster that she'd feared to be.

She'd lost all hope and wanted somewhere to vent her anger... Wasn't it justified to do so? The world is wrong... They were wrong... She had to kill to calm herself down... After all, they cursed her to be a monster, so a monster she will be.

Meanwhile, the Loplin's uniform was the reddest it had ever been as he called out the last few words.

"Bask in the Glory of the Sun! Feel it's indomitable wrath!"
