"You are resigning from your position and your job in this hospital?" Diane's departmental chief asked with raised brows after she broke the news to him.
Diane nodded in affirmation. "Like I said earlier, my husband is moving to Dubai for two years. The distance and the time zone will be difficult to come around and I have decided to leave with him."
There was no batting of eyelids or mincing of words from Diane. She didn't stutter, and she didn't look like she was unsure of her decision.
Her Chief stared at her for a while and at a point, he took off his reading glasses and set them down before him.
"I understand your decision but I want you to consider this factor which I have been meaning to mention to you since you returned from Toronto," he said and let out a deep breath.
