It was the month of July in Beijing. During this time, the city experiences heavy downpours and thunderstorms causing the whole city to be enveloped in mist and the air to be especially humid and cold.
In the crowded city, every person carried an umbrella to protect themselves from the downpour.
A black Bentley cruised over the rainwater, splashing mud and water all over the ground as it stopped steadily in front of a large restaurant. It took a minute before the car door opened. A large, imposing man dressed in black stepped out of the car with an umbrella to walk around the car. He opened the black umbrella before reaching out to open the door.
The young woman in the car stepped out. Because it was raining and cold, she was dressed in a down coat that passed her knees, a boot and gloves protecting her hand from the cold. Under the protection of the umbrella from the rain, she looked extremely beautiful and elegant.
She took the umbrella from the man standing by her side and turned her head to whisper some words to him. He nodded and bowed politely before turning to leave.
The young woman strode forward, into the restaurant. The moment she entered the restaurant, the workers bowed politely and welcomed her. One of the workers stepped forward and greeted her, "CEO Bao, it's our pleasure having you here once again"
Bao Caihong, the youngest female CEO, was ruthless, heartless and the most powerful and wealthiest female CEO. At the age of 18, her parents died in a car accident and given the fact that she was the only child, the authority to the entire Bao empire was given to her. She started from where her father stopped and grew the Bao's business from China to Europe and Asian countries. Everyone was shocked at how fast she was able to accomplish that.
Although her family members were against her taking over, they believed that an 18 years old college student couldn't do anything, but she proved them all wrong. In a span of four years, the Bao's business had become something everyone wanted to have a partnership with.
Everyone tried to curry favour from her. Every man wanted her, but she had her eyes for only one man.
She was called- the glory of the nation.
"Is everything set now?" She asked, her voice was soft and cool, pleasant to the hearing.
"Yes, CEO Bao"
Bao Caihong nodded and walked away. She stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the second floor. As the elevator ascended, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror, admiring her long, deep brown, curly hair. She reached out to her bag, brought out a signature red lipstick and applied it before dropping it in her bag. Her big, beautiful eyes lit up with affection as she smiled at herself.
Bao Caihong had been so caught up with work that she hadn't had time for her boyfriend, Gao Ming. The last time he spoke with her, he said he wanted to see her and she knew it was important to make time for him. So, despite her hectic schedule, she decided to set aside some time for their relationship.
Ding-
The elevator door opened and Bai Caihong stepped out of it into a room. The lighting of the room was dimmed and soft music played in the background. The room was filled with candlelights and she could smell the sweet scent of Jasmine, the one Gao Ming had always loved.
She sat down, with her legs crossed as she waited for Gao Ming. She reached out to tuck her hair behind her hair, her fingers which were decorated with diamond rings were like snowflakes, each one unique and exquisite.
After a while of waiting, she heard the door pushed open and she stood up with a smile to look at the person that just walked in. "MingMing darling, you are-" the remaining words got stuck in her throat and the smile on her face froze.
Gao Ming walked in with a woman by his side. The woman was petite and delicate, her features soft and unblemished. She had her arm wrapped around Gao Ming's as she raised her head to whisper some words into Gao Ming's ear. The fear and guilt were evident in her eyes.
Bao Caihong stood up, slowly. She was lost and confused, her expression demanding for an explanation. "What's happening here, Gao Ming? Who's she?" that was the very first time she would address Gao Ming by his name.
Ever since they started dating two years ago, she had always called him his pet names. Even when she was angry with him, she would still address him by his pet names and not his name.
Gao Ming was shocked. He could see the confusion building up from the depth of her eyes. He knew he shouldn't do this, but he just had to. He had been keeping this for a very long time now and he felt he couldn't do this anymore. "Caihong, I have something to tell you" he paused for a while as he lowered his head to look at the woman beside him. He continued, "I don't think I can continue this relationship with you. I'm in love with someone else"
The moment he said those words, Bao Caihong felt arrows from nowhere piercing through her body. Her heart broke and sank deeply into the sea of bitterness. She still didn't want to believe it. "You said what?"
"I love someone else, Caihong. I love YinYin" he grabbed Xuan Yin's hand and intertwined his fingers with hers. He said confidently, "I love her so much, so… let's break up"
Bao Caihong felt her world shaking and she felt dizzy. She stumbled backwards, but she hurriedly reached out to support herself by leaning on the table. Gao Ming saw this and wanted to reach out to help her, but Xuan Yin, the woman standing beside him pulled him back and frowned.
"Caihong, I'm sorry for hurting you, but this is for the best. You have to let go" Gao Ming said again.
"You are sorry? I have to let go?" Her voice shook as she repeated his words.
The man she had adored, cherished and loved for two years broke her heart and told her that she had to let go. She had rejected every man that asked for her hand in marriage just because of this same man and today, she was dumped by him. She couldn't believe that this man would cheat on her after what they had been through.
She felt her life was like a joke.
Hot tears welled up in her reddened eyes, and she raised her head to stop them from falling. She looked at Gao Ming and laughed. "So you have been cheating on me?"
When Gao Ming heard her, he froze and opened his mouth, stuttering out an explanation, "No… i-"
"No?" Bao Caihong laughed as she interrupted him. She reached out to wipe the tear that had rolled down her eye. "So what have you been doing? Playing with my feelings?" Her eyes were filled with disdain for him. That strong hatred started growing in her heart for him.
Xuan Yin bit her lips, looking inexplicably pitiful. She spoke up, "Caihong, MingMing never cheated-"
"Who the fu*k are you to address me that way?!" This form of address pierced Bao Caihong's nerves, and she immediately took a plate and threw it at Xuan Yin.
