Sonic felt a sharp pang in his stomach and realized he still got hungry despite being a Slayer. But what he didn't know was that his taste for food was changing as his body system had evolved into that of a Slayer.
As he gazed down at the dead wolves, he perceived a sweet aroma emanating from their open wounds. It was as if they were already cooked. Wondering why that was, the A-I system kicked in.
< Inspection skill is being used >
< Beast names: Wide wolves >
< Race: Natural Beast >
< Use: For consumption >
The holographic screen displayed boldly.
"What? Are you suggesting I feast on raw meat because I'm a Slayer? No, thanks. I prefer my meat cooked or dried."
He quickly exited the restricted area and headed back to town. His clothes were torn apart, and blood stains were everywhere. He needed new clothes before someone might mistake him for having killed a human and call the detectives.
Sonic clearly didn't want to draw attention to himself. For now, he only needed food and new clothes before heading to the military school to participate in the entrance Exam tomorrow.
A few hours later, Sonic managed to get his hands on clean clothes and a few packed meals he clearly stole.
He put on the clothes and decided to dig into his meal. However, the scent coming from the meal was strange. How could a freshly baked potato smell so bad? he thought.
"Maybe my sense of smell is also changing. I just have to hold my breath and chew," Sonic encouraged himself and tossed a slice of potato into his mouth. But soon, he realized that the potato not only smelled bad but also tasted toxic in his mouth. He immediately spat it out.
< Meal isn't compatible with your system >
The A-I system warned.
"So you're suggesting a raw piece of meat then?" Sonic questioned, already knowing what reply the system would give him.
"I'd rather stay hungry," said Sonic.
Soon, he fell asleep on top of a treehouse he had built while living in the woods.
The next morning, as Sonic opened his eyes, he was greeted by the A-I system.
< Good morning, Slayer >
< Unfinished Quest: Slay one more beast to acquire a beast Weapon >
So the system was going to remind him of his unfinished quest every day until it was completed? That's great, because with such a reminder, he wasn't going to miss out on anything.
He had heard that there were free buses every year that took students down to the military school. So, Sonic quickly rushed down to the park.
Reaching the park few minutes later, Indeed, there were buses from the military school. Sonic saw others being given a Digital-Wrist-watch before entering the bus, but when it came to his turn, he was faced with a challenging question.
"What's your ability?" The blonde conductor asked Sonic as he was about to hand him a Digital-Wrist-watch, which signified that he would be going to the military school as a student."
But, come to think of it, Sonic's system hadn't mentioned anything about abilities to him. As he stood there without a single clue, the A-I system voiced out to him.
< Slayers don't have abilities but skills, for example, Inspection skill, fighting skill, and so on >
"What?" Sonic mumbled to his system.
The conductor asked again, thinking maybe Sonic didn't understand the question the first time.
"What's your ability, kid?" His voice grew impatient.
Without thinking, Sonic voiced out, "I have the inspection ability."
< Inspection isn't an ability > The A-I system spoke up.
"Just play along, you damn system," Sonic thought to his system.
"Inspection ability? Prove it," the conductor said, doubting that someone like Sonic could possess such an ability, if it even existed.
"Do your thing, system. Inspect the man in front of me," Sonic raised an eyebrow.
< Name: Harry Harold >
< Age: 45 >
< Race: Human >
< Ability: Teleportation >
Just as the system displayed to Sonic, he relayed the information to the conductor, who was now convinced that such an ability existed, and Sonic possessed it.
With such an ability, Sonic could get a well-paying detective job in the capital, the conductor thought and handed Sonic his own Digital-Wrist-watch.
< Good job, Slayer > the system complimented.
When the bus Sonic was in got filled up, they were all told to fasten their seat belts tightly. Then Harry Harold, the blonde conductor, locked every door on the bus, including the driver's door. However, it was strange since there was no driver or conductor in the bus with the students.
Soon, some of the students started raising a buzz, pointing outside the windows. Sonic also gazed outside and realized it was Mister Harry, but his hands were glowing as he pointed them at the bus.
"Bang!"
Just like that, the bus was teleported down to the military school field at the speed of light.
When the students noticed the change of environment, their buzzing only intensified.
"Huh?"
"What just happened?"
"Where are we?"
"I think this is the Military school. I've seen it countless times on television."
"Did the conductor just teleport our bus down here? Is that his ability?"
Immediately upon hearing the word 'Teleport,' Sonic was convinced that indeed Mister Harry had teleported them here. After all, from his inspection, Mister Harry's ability was Teleportation.
Soon, some Militants, carrying large swords behind their mechanized green suits, unlocked the previously locked doors from outside and directed all the students to step out.
The large swords the militants carried behind their battle suits were Beast Weapons, built of Magic beast crystals, preparing them for any emergency close combat situations.
After all the students stepped outside, the bus was no longer in sight. Probably, there was another Teleportation user who had 'Banged' it back to the park they were at earlier.
There were other students who arrived before them in the vast field, and some even came with their parents or guardians; probably those were from prominent families.
The Royals, on the other hand, were admitted straight into the military school without partaking in the entrance match. This was one of the few benefits of being from the Royal family.
The Military school resembled a city from a mech-tech video game, filled with vast skyscraper buildings. It was almost as if they had been teleported into a video game. The military school was indeed an epitome of beauty, the living proof anyone needed to believe that technology was also an ability.
There were various classrooms and training centers covering various kinds of abilities. Additionally, there was a hospital and a museum inside the military school, as well as a canteen, library, gym, and even a baseball field.
Outside the school compound was a vast marketplace where people sold different kinds of beast Weapons and beast crystals. Food and many other things were also sold in the outskirts.
Sonic had only seen the Military school on television, but he didn't expect it to be this big and populated.
Soon, a large horn was blown, signifying that the entrance match was about to begin and all students should make their way inside.
There weren't any other buses coming, so the bus Sonic took was probably the last one that was teleported down to the military school. Surely, Sonic was lucky to have caught the last bus on time.
