Sonic and the monsters charged at each other, the clash of steel echoing through the vast hall. It almost seemed as if the monsters' bodies were made of steel.
"Huh?" Sonic exclaimed in shock. "Are these monsters actually made of steel?" he thought, jumping back to inspect them, searching for a weak spot to strike.
< Inspecting Monsters: They're summoned monsters of Basic Tier >
< Weak spots detected on Monsters: A straight blow to the heart will be enough to slay big monsters, and a clean cut on the neck will be enough to slay small monsters >
Sonic's system provided him with the necessary information.
Armed with this knowledge, Sonic charged at the monsters once again. This time, there wasn't as much clashing sound, but the screams of the monsters as they fell one by one to the floor.
Seeing this, the crowd began clapping and cheering Sonic on, even though the fight hadn't come to an end.
"How did he figure out their weak spots so quickly and act on it so easily?" Rony whispered to himself.
If Sonic was this strong, then why did he run from them yesterday? Another thought dawned on him. "I'm doomed! All my monsters have the same weak spots, and I'm running out of Ora energy," Rony lamented, his face showing his concern.
When Ora energy is applied to an ability, it enhances its effectiveness. However, continuous application reduces the user's stamina. That's why ability users need to build their Ora energy reserves, making it easier to apply abilities without exhausting themselves.
< Opponent is lacking stamina >
< Health Points: 30/100 >
Sonic's system revealed.
This means that if Rony keeps summoning more monsters from the open portals, he will collapse before Sonic even confronts him directly.
< Opponent is lacking stamina >
< Health Points: 20/100 >
The system received another message.
Rony was barely able to keep the portals open, let alone summon monsters from them. Meanwhile, Sonic wasn't exerting himself to slay them with a single blow.
< Opponent is lacking stamina >
< Health Points: 10/100 >
At this point, Rony had run out of Ora energy and would have to take a day of rest to replenish it all. Still, he refused to accept defeat. With his last bit of stamina, Rony summoned a very large monster, but to his surprise, the monster was slain before it could fully emerge.
Sonic flanged his sword, piercing directly into the monster's heart, causing it to fall back into the portal.
Then, Sonic sprinted as fast as he could, launching himself at Rony, his fist slamming into Rony's gut. The impact sent Rony flying into the crowd. He wheezed and struggled but failed to stand up from the ground. The punch had caused more damage than expected.
Sonic then approached Rony and lifted him up with a single hand, "Monsters like you are not welcomed in this school!" Sonic shouted as he intended to deliver another punch to Rony's stomach. However, he stopped after receiving another message from his system.
< Opponent is defeated: The system will now reward you for your efforts >
< For defeating opponent, one Agility stat has been rewarded >
< Number of slayed Monsters: 31 >
< A new Beast weapon has been rewarded for completing a Quest >
< Total Number of Slays: 35 >
< Numbers of newly completed Quests: 2 >
< One optional stat rewarded for damage done against opponent >
< Where would you like to add the optional stat? Slayer Agility or Slayer energy? >
Sonic knew he needed to be swift in his attacks, so he decided to allocate the stat randomly to the Agility stat. He promised himself that his next stat would go towards Slayer energy. Soon, his system provided a new update.
< Slayer Agility: 2 >
< Slayer Energy: 1/100 >
He couldn't fathom how he was able to defeat monsters made of steel with just one Slayer energy. Indeed, the Dark Slayers were like gods compared to humans.
Soon, Sonic was directed to another hall filled with long chairs attached to desks. Though not as big as the previous hall where the students gathered, it had the same interior structure. Upon arriving, he noticed two students already seated: the huge student who passed the entrance exam without fighting, and the invisible young boy who surprised everyone. Sadly, the mysterious girl with the nickname "Frozen-Mummy" wasn't there. Sonic had expected to see her since the other two students were present.
As Sonic took his seat, the huge student approached him, extending his hand for a handshake.
"Hey, I'm James," he said with a broad smile.
Sonic wasn't expecting the huge student to act so friendly, considering his intimidating appearance. Additionally, James seemed rather imposing when he challenged everyone in the hall earlier.
"I'm Sonic," he replied, shaking James' open hand.
"Hey Sonic, I'm guessing you crushed your opponent out there," James joked.
Sonic stuttered slightly in his response. "I guess I did. That's why I'm here, right?
James held Sonic by the shoulder and said something that sounded odd to Sonic, 'Good thing you had the chance to prove your strength. Well, I just wish I hadn't challenged everyone openly; maybe I would've gotten an opponent to spar with.'
"Huh? Are you kidding me? You wish you had an opponent while everyone else wished they had the chance you got?" Sonic thought to himself, refraining from saying anything out loud because he didn't know how James would react.
"I wonder how long we're going to sit and wait for the others," James sighed.
Just then, a familiar female student walked into the hall and seated a few chairs away from Sonic and James.
"What a beauty! I think I should make her my girl when we settle into the school properly," said James after watching the female student take her seat.
Behold, the girl was the same one who had broken a boy's fingers for touching her and refusing to apologize. Sonic felt compelled to warn James about the trouble he would get himself into.
"Dating 'Finger Girl' is like trying to commit suicide," Sonic thought to himself, but he refrained from saying it aloud since James hadn't witnessed her actions.
Finger Girl arrived not too long after Sonic entered the hall, indicating that she definitely crushed her opponent within seconds.
