Chapter 15 - Where did he go

The day had finally come which all the students awaited. This was the day for which they all worked very hard and put their everything to bring out the best. Every scene, every expression, every dialogue...they put effort into everything and just wanted perfection today.

All the students were ready to show their skills and rock the day. Their parents were eagerly waiting to watch their children perform. Some even arrived 2 hours before to support their children.

Excitement filled the air. As the play started, Aidan and Sofia, along with their classmates, poured their hearts into their performances, dazzling the audience with their talent and passion. The auditorium buzzed with energy as parents and families gathered to watch the show, the air filled with anticipation and laughter. The parents and the teachers who encouraged the children were very happy with their amazing performance.

Aidan's father, Mr. Johnson, was among the proud parents in the audience, his eyes shining with pride as he watched his son take the stage.

Neither Aidan's father nor his mother ever thought that Aidan would do such a great job. Like they had never seen him doing top in anything else than studies. Because he never participated in such events.

Aidan whenever bought a trophy or a prize, he might have won that in some academic things. Aidan when he told their parents that he was going to participate in a play, they were literally shocked. His father even asked if it was really Aidan, his son.

But inside his heart, he was very happy that nowadays Aidan was no more that silent boy who would never utter a word from his mouth. He was always a boy, who always used to stay silent, did his work on time, was responsible, and would never share what happened at school.

He would only talk when required or reply if they asked him something. Looking at their totally changed son, both his parents were very happy. They never thought that they could see their son being so expressive. They never thought that he would come out of his shell.

They observed this change in him when James came into his life and they were so thankful for that. They saw how many friends he made who had none previously. They were so happy and today the happiness doubled after watching their son doing so well.

The play was over. It was filled with the sounds of applause. Everyone was enjoying the moment. All the mothers gathered at a place and were talking about their kids smiling and laughing. All the students were receiving compliments for their work and were very happy. They forgot all their hard work after getting so many praises. They were enjoying the moment to their fullest and that's when the time came when they had to leave to their respected homes.

That's when Aidan's mom came to him telling him that his father was nowhere to be seen.

"Aidan I couldn't find your father. Did you see him?" She asked.

"No Mom. Why? Where did he go?"

"Don't know son. I have been searching for him for so long but could not find where he went" she said.

"Did you try calling him?" asked Aidan.

"I did. But he won't answer at all. He did not even inform me where he went" said she.

"How long has it been Mom?" asked Aidan.

"It's been more than an hour son. I am worried. He never goes like this. I am worried" Aidan's mother said.

"Don't worry Mom. We will find him. He might be here somewhere. Or there might be something important that he had to deal with and he had to go all of a sudden" said Aidan.

"No son. He never goes anywhere without informing. How much ever important the work might be. That is the reason why I am concerned" said his Mom.

"Don't worry Mom we all will search." He said.

Aidan and all his friends started searching for his father. But even after searching for so long, they could not find him. And his phone was not reachable.

Aidan was so worried when he realized his father was nowhere to be found.

Frantic, Aidan searched the auditorium, calling out his father's name in a voice tinged with fear. But there was no sign of him, and as the minutes ticked by, panic began to set in.

Sofia and Aidan's friends joined in the search, scouring every corner of the school in a desperate bid to find Mr. Johnson. But despite their efforts, he remained elusive, his disappearance shrouded in mystery.

As night fell and the school emptied, Aidan's heart weighed heavy with worry. What could have happened to his father, and why had he vanished without a trace?

As the search for Aidan's father intensified, tension hung heavy in the air. Aidan's mother, overwhelmed with worry, could do nothing but wait anxiously for news of her husband's whereabouts.

Aidan and his friends spared no effort in their quest for answers, delving into Mr. Johnson's past in search of clues. They discovered that he had no known enemies, leaving them baffled by his sudden disappearance.

The next day evening, Mr. Johnson returned home. Everyone was relieved. He did not say anything. Had the same face since when he returned. There was confusion written on everyone's face, they could not understand why he was behaving in that way and the most was that they were concerned. It was only scary thoughts they got when they saw him like that. All their doubts would be cleared only when Mr. Johnson would speak or say something that what had happened, where he went, or the worst who took him.

They were almost going to file a complaint tonight if he had not returned back.

Where was he all this time? If he went somewhere then where did he go and why did he not inform if he was going somewhere? Or is it that someone took him? All these questions can only be answered by him. But here he is, not one spilling a single word.

But when questioned about his ordeal, he remained silent, his eyes filled with an unspoken urgency.

Aidan thanked his friends for their help and asked them to go to their respective homes and rest.

As everyone left, there was only silence that could be heard. Aidan and his mother were waiting when Mr. Johnson will speak and say something.

"There is something very important that we don't know," Mr. Johnson finally confessed, his voice grave. "And it's the cause of all the trouble."

That night, no one could sleep. Aidan's family were in their thoughts. They do not know what to do. Mr. Johnson who was not uttering a word about where he was kept, or who might have taken him, he answered none of them.

He suddenly got up and went into the store room of his home and started to find something that could help him know what to do next. Aidan and his mother were watching Mr.Johnson with looks that they never had while looking at him in the past. It was almost midnight and he found nothing.

Aidan and his mother exchanged worried glances, their thoughts racing with unanswered questions. What could Mr. Johnson be looking for at this hour? And why was he so secretive about it?

Meanwhile, in the shadows of a dimly lit chamber, the enemies gathered, their voices hushed as they discussed their next move. One of them, his tone laced with frustration, questioned the guide's decision to let Mr. Johnson go.

"Why did you suggest to leave him, guide?" he asked, his voice dripping with impatience. "We finally had them within our grasp after all this time."

The guide, a figure cloaked in darkness, remained unruffled by the outburst. With a calm demeanor, he explained his reasoning.

"There is a timing and plan that must be followed," he replied, his voice steady and unwavering. "Now was not the time. And besides, I highly doubt he knows anything of importance."

His words seemed to placate the dissenting voice, who reluctantly nodded in agreement. "Yes, brother," he conceded. "Let us wait for the perfect moment to strike. We have found our target, and nothing can stop us now."

But another voice, filled with skepticism, spoke up. "I don't understand why we resort to such underhanded tactics," he muttered, his tone tinged with contempt.

The guide's gaze hardened, his eyes flashing with annoyance. "We do what we must to achieve our goals," he replied sharply. "And now that we have identified our target, we must remain vigilant."

As the conversation came to a close, the guide issued his final orders. "We must take care of this ourselves," he declared. "We cannot leave anything to chance. Keep a close eye on everything, and be prepared to act when the time is right."

"Yes, guide," they chorused in unison, their voices echoing through the chamber.
