Chapter 29: Arrival At Rika 1 Zombie Horde
"Colby how the hell did you get through this?" Skylar threw out his question having a hard time concentrating on the matter at hand.
"I don't..... I think it's some kind of scenario!" Colby answered with agitation; his face was sweating profusely and there were stress lines all over his face.
Who would not be that stressed after encountering such ambiguous numbers of Zombies engulfing the streets.
'I can't comprehend this number just for a Scenario, maybe they figured how much people came to Rika for protection and installed this,' Eri narrowed his eyes at them and in an instant a notification popped up, not just him but every one of them.
[Welcome to Pre-Second Scenario, Zombie Mayhem]
'That is already pretty clear, but how the heck are we supposed to get past this?' Gambit gulped momentarily before turning to Colby and the other soldiers.
"Where is the Rika Subway?" he asked and gave them a moment to map out their thoughts, "if we can know how long we are gonna run we just might have a chance."
"I guess it's nine turns from here, but we'll have to tear through the horde head on and I am sure we won't make it," Jessie who was at his mid twenties explained with dread pressing down his look. "From the looks of it, this zombies will be as active as hell and hard to fight while on the run, not to consider those numbers."
Gambit shook his head in awe once more.
Eri had no say to this, 'if they were only as fast as I am, at this rate only Skylar could be of help.'
Eri was already formulating his plan but held it back to hear what they had to say, but after a silent minute or two he was compelled to talk.
"I have a plan, but I do not guarantee any of us surviving this," Eri said first and waited for their consent before he continued.
"The plan is to play bait, I am the fastest I'm the group and so is Sky, I was thinking we would tear through the horde or at least lead them somewhere else, then you guys run for it."
"That might just work, but there is no chance of you guys surviving," Carl refrained from his reply quickly "your probability of survival is none other than 0.6."
That was a very slim possibility Eri became ready to take, 'This is probably why Carl is on the team.'
"Eri is right, but, I do not think I am that fast," Skylar began running his hand through his hair and making up an innocent look. "Here's the thing my speed can only be used for at least three minutes and I would have to recharge ten minutes, my wind attacks are the same, so in that race I might end up becoming dead weight."
Again.... 'Hahahaha, what kind of pathetic ability is that?' Eri smiled bitterly.
"I do not really see any other way on this since you two are the fastest we possess in our asernel," Colby said also on board with the idea.
"I'm afraid you will have to do this Skylar, and Eri will have to watch your back," Gambit clasped him on the arm before turning all attention to Carl and saying, "we also have the short end of the straw don't we?"
Carl nodded in compliance, "there is no assurance we'll make it either, but getting past the first horde is the goal, isn't it?"
Elsa did not like where this played to, she had attained an attachment to Eri and despiced the plan of him simply betting his life out like that, she needed to step up.
"I will go with them," her statement and audacity jolted the group.
"Stop joking lady," Jessie advices patting his gun softly.
"You can't, it's too dangerous," Skylar made sure to sound as though he was scolding her but she would not get so down as easily.
Elsa walked up to Eri who tried his best to avoid eye contact holding his warm hand firmly and saying once more, "I refuse to lose another brother."
'Brother? Why am I getting involved this way? Am I that important?'
"You might be powerful Elsa and caring, that's why we will need you at our disposal," Carl bluntly spoke with zero emotions in his tone; it hurt his heart to say this like he hated Eri but knew if he did not, Elsa would be unable to calm herself.
Gambit already getting the line of thought added, "they are not kids, both of them survived long before we even became a group, besides Eri is with him we should be more worried of our own trail."
Elsa in the latter reduced her grip on Eri's palm before disconnecting from him and silently walking away, no one could understand what this meant as everyone here were hard core men especially Eri who owned little experience with people.
Soon enough they went back to analyze their plan in their imaginations for a few minute before regrouping to make a few more additions.
After this the plan was already set with the ambiguous flaws covered to it's best possible vantage and they were set to go.
Eri ran over the plan in his head; the soldiers said ten yards down was an alley they could cut through into the next street, that meant they had to kill many zombies before getting there.
Not to forget they could not predict what awaited them at the end of the alley.
"Get ready Eri, this is where we die," Sky tried to joke; his eyes were as red as hell probably from stress issues concerning this mission impossible.
'If I were you I will be more worried for myself,' Eri thought wearing his bag tightly and taking his other dagger tightly in his hands.
"I will cover you from behind since you are faster take the lead," Sky insisted and Eri got very uncomfortable with the plan.
'I will be lucky if I do not pass out from fear and bad breath.'
Eri took one final glance at the team especially Elsa holding her hands like she wanted to say something to him, well he cared less.
"Be careful."
Eri heard this final words as he ran out of the alley, through his keen hearing he could tell it was from Elsa, 'I won't die.'
He gulped as the large scale numbers of Zombies with brutal looks noticed them and began an approach quickly in hundreds.
"I.... I-i won't die."
