Chapter 32: Unwelcoming
Carl and Dexter stormed through the large but destroyed halls of the building they were in.
This was basically the floors of the scenarios they had been tackling for months. About seven months or so back, the second worldwide broadcast has announced to the world.
Every safezone would have to pay their rent by clearing dungeon like scenarios.
That was when a huge dark portal appeared in the middle of the safe zone. Together the survivals formed a team to battle and prevail over this floors, this brought over the dawn of the Magus, and Sky joining them, not to talk about the Scenario's ending and ofthe motive in the first place.
The world was still a mystery they all tried to grasp.
Dexter could recall how he met Carlos a few months back and their connection very vividly. After hearing Carl's story it pained him that every time he stared into his eyes he would feel like shedding tears.
He spat a sigh walking very closely to Carlos and watching his blank expression for a while.
The connection between them was Eri Luggard; who Dexter used to know as a friend in their kid days, and now he turned out to be a magnet to intertwining them both.
'Skylar and Gambit took over the Safe zone, something like that,' Dexter was not keen to remembering information so easily.
After they entered the Safezone, they broke off to accomplish different motives, Skylar and Gambit went off their own way, Elsa went to search for someone and Carlos escorted.
'Some girl named Hannah.' Things began to fall apart two weeks in the safezone.
News got out that Gambit helped the Mayor of the Safe zone and was appointed deputy. This came as a shock to Carlos and Elsa.
After this Carlos did not bother to explain any further to Dexter.
So the lack of information was what got him riled up at this moment.
"At times, Dexter I hate the powers I have," Carlos stared at his palm with eyes penetrated with hate. "Why did the world have to end?"
Dexter spat a sigh and smiled bitterly, 'He's still hung up on this.' Dexter shook the thought from his head and felt the pressure of Carl's question in him, so young but behaving as a man would.
"What I'm so hung up about is the system, why are we still living under a government?" Dexter tried to joke but was set straight by Carl's seriousness.
Carl held his chin and pondered for a while, "do you believe in reincarnation? Or getting a second chance in life?"
"No, even in this magical world there is no revival," Dexter raised his hand up to his view-point and summoned a dark energy.
[Regeneration Blood Lv5 skill: As long as you have blood in your system you will be able to regenerate even after death.]
'In my case maybe.'
Carlos smiled in an amusing way, "do you know I could predict the outcomes of not just battles, I have advanced to predict lifespan, next twelve moves, next thought, and reasoning, I could basically be called a supreme being."
Dexter belittled himself and smiled downcasted, 'I would wish to know how long I have left, because I basically disobey sleeping early and not eating junk foods law everytime.'
"I can see three huge probabilities I want you to know about," Carl waited for his reply which he gave with a nod.
'This is why Carlos is almost on par with us Magus, his skills and ability to predict is friggin crazy, any side he is on would surely win as he is never incorrect.'
"First thing I have to say, is that there is a great chance we are in some kind of game watched by supreme beings in the universe, that brings me to the conclusion...." He made sure to make eye contact with Dexter before finishing, "this Safezone will burn, it will never last and the human population is set to thin to a smaller handful."
Dexter made sure to chew over the information before asking, "you are saying we are meant not to survive but to reduce to a smaller number?!"
Not bothering over giving answers Carlos proceeded, "two is me, I am becoming a liability and will soon be wiped off."
Dexter was thrown aback by the statement, 'Is Skylar threatening Carlos? Or is he talking about retirement?'
"Final of all."
Dexter was getting overloaded, before he could fully process one, another was coming. Stuffs like this made his head ache.
Carl maintained eye contact with him and a sly smirk peeled across his expression.
"Eri is alive."
