Chapter 3 - Friends forever

It's Saturday morning in Japan. Kaden is sitting on a bench in the school's football ground, with dark spots under his eyes from the punishment his father gave him last night. He's lost in thoughts about what happened and how his father called chess a useless game. Suddenly, someone interrupts his thoughts and a voice says, "Hey, you will surely win tomorrow, don't think too much." Kaden looks up and sees his friend Shota Matsuda, a tall guy with short hair who is 177cm tall. Kaden replies, "No, I'm not thinking about tomorrow's tournament. I'm thinking about how I can make my father happy. I don't want him to lose respect in society." Shota says, "I guess your father is psycho or something. Did he hit you again?" Kaden replies, "Yes, he hit my mother too." Then, they hear Shota's father knocking on the door, saying in a pleading tone, "Please open the door, I won't come late again." Shota's mother, in an angry tone, replies from inside the house, "It's been 4 days, you've been coming home late continuously. Stay outside and enjoy." Shota stands beside his mother and asks, "Give him a chance." She responds, "I've already given him one." Shota then says, "It's cold outside, he'll catch a cold." His mother, still angry, says, "I guess you also want to stay outside with your father." Shota laughs nervously and says, "No, no. I think father should experience this. Let him be out there." Then, Shota says with a laugh, "In my house, it's quite the opposite. My mother is more dominant than my father, but they're both nice to each other." Suddenly, a rough voice interrupts them, asking if they're not in the mood for class. Shota and Kaden realize it's their other friend, Sato Yoshida, with medium hair and round-framed glasses. Sato slowly approaches them and says, "We're already late. Let's go to class or we'll have to stand in the hall as punishment." Shota teases, "Haha, I know why you're rushing to see her, am I right?" Suddenly, Sato punches Shota on the head Shota exclaimed in agony, "Why did you hit me?" Dumbfounded, Sota retorted, "You deserved it! How many times do I have to tell you not to discuss her in public like this?" Kaden interjected, "Well, both of you, I think we should hurry to class. We're running late." The trio entered the classroom only to find the teacher absent and the other students engaged in conversation. Kaden whispered quietly to Shota, "I don't think she's here." Shota nodded in agreement. As they scanned the room, their eyes fell upon Sota, who was fixated on the empty first bench of the last row. Shota calmly took his seat, followed by Kaden. However, as Kaden was about to sit down, someone grabbed the collar of his shirt from behind and taunted, "Hey fool, you forgot to greet me, you little brat!" The scene shifted to Takemi, the most troublesome student in their class, who always bullied Kaden. Suddenly, Sota left his desk, grabbed Takemi's hand, and freed Kaden. Sota warned, "I believe you're under surveillance. This evidence is enough to get you suspended for ten days." Takemi laughed mockingly, "You may save him here, but what about outside? He's so weak, always hiding behind his friend." With a laugh, Takemi walked away. Shota turned to Kaden and said, "Hey Kaden, don't you think you should take action? Maybe not physically, but at least report him to the principal." Kaden replied softly, "I don't want to. I'm fine." Sota responded sternly, "I understand that you're afraid. Your father being friends with the principal would create fear among the students. They wouldn't even talk to you. But if you care about what they say about you, it means you're living for them, not for yourself. And someone who doesn't value themselves and constantly seeks validation from others will only experience pain, suffering, and destruction. It's better to find something for yourself rather than relying on them." After hearing this, Kaden made up his mind to go to the principal's office. He left the classroom, heading towards the principal's room.
