It is said that dreams reflect the activities of our minds. It is a way of our consciousness to ask or answer questions that a person would not ask or answer in real life.
Her consciousness was also knocking through to get through her, which did not let her sleep the whole night.
She awoke that night, twisting and turning, thinking of many things, including him and his confession.
Those were the things she could accept easily and had accepted, but the other things, such as the disturbance in her life, were out of the ordinary.
She did not accept that she could fall for him, for a guy so simple and like every other. He was no different in her eyes and she did not hold back to declare that to Vritti the next day.
Sitting beside Vritti after the class, Leena told her about the dream, but the part where she needed a solution for her turmoil did not arrive soon, for she wanted to explain how she could not fall for someone like Vihan.
"But you have." And without a doubt, like her usual self, Vritti was opposed, more worried and bitter than ever. She knew how small things could churn up Leena's whole life and how she could never leave the things that pose such an effect.
Leena had always been like that. She always seeks answers. She can never leave things as they are without any explanation. And that explanation has always had to be satisfactory to her, which is not always the truth.
That is what poses a threat to her life. That same character has always caused trouble in her life because she doesn't like the answer, which goes against her beliefs.
"You have to confront him. Tell him about everything." Vritti added with a bitter tone, clutching her hands together on the table beside her. "Accept it, Leena. This time you have to. You might have been right many times before, but there were also times when you were wrong. This is one of those times. Accept it before it causes turmoil in your life."
"You do not understand. It is not like those times. I know what I feel. And I don't like him." Leena could not accept that, for he was meant to be just a sex partner. But Leena's never-changing demeanor had pressed Vritti to the stage of rage.
Leena just did not understand what Vritti was trying to say, neither did she try to.
"For sure, you don't!" Unable to withstand Leena, Vritti stood up, and boomed with rage, "You love him!"
"Can't you see you're doing that again? You're trying to prove yourself that you can't like compassion." Vrriti's rage was reasonable, but the composure in Leena's demeanor after such a dream wasn't.
She hadn't stood up even after being screamed at. That was how she had always been. Ignorant of her own feelings.
"I don't understand why you're acting like this, but I'll prove you wrong," Leena responded with composure, stood up with it as well, and left Vritti with another question answered. "How is she going to do that?"
She couldn't answer that question because she herself, did not know how she would prove Vritti wrong. All she knew was that she had to do something to erase the bitterness between them.
A whole day went by, thinking of the solution, which disconnected her from Vihan and Vritti. Now she was back in her apartment, smoking like usual on her couch.
She was thinking of the solution when an old memory crossed her mind. A memory of a guy who had caused the same effect as Vihan, whom she had met through a dating app.
That was a brilliant idea!
Meeting a guy from a dating app, whom she could sleep with without an effect was a brilliant idea.
That would prove Vritti wrong and would also erase the unsettling feeling in her heart.
So, she quickly signed up herself and found a guy quicker than that. Sameer. He sounded adorable with his words, a quirky guy with a good-looking face.
He did not waste any second to express his desires, which aligned with hers. They both wanted a fling and they both could not wait to meet each other.
And it seemed as if the world was acting up in her favour for the day after was a Sunday. She could easily meet him without creating any changes in her schedule and since Vihan was not forward enough with her, he was of no problem for her as well.
He would never learn about it, since Sameer was a no-college student. He already had a job and did not wish to meddle in the college mess. And even if Vihan did find out somehow, it would cause no harm. She felt nothing for him.
So, she texted him with a yes to meet and slept with a light mind after a day of turmoil.
The next day, for the first time, a peculiar feeling was flooding her as she was leaving for the date.
She did not understand what she was feeling, but it was making it hard for her feet to leave her apartment.
For some reason, she kept staring at herself in the mirror beside the main door, not even looking at herself, just glaring into the void. Her mind was lost and all she could think was Vihan. It was as if her mind was wondering what Vihan would do if he found out about Sameer.
She felt scared, and she wanted to erase it. He had truly become a headache for her, which made her more anxious to meet the guy and be done with it, even through the struggle her heart was facing.
She kept repeating to herself that she would prove Vritti wrong and become her older self. But was it going to happen? For she can't even step out of the door.
Why can't she just get out of the door? Why did she not feel like taking a step out?
Was it a sign? But she never believed in such things. It was probably because of the fight she had with Vritti or because she couldn't stop thinking about Vihan.
