After Lilith's bombshell, I couldn't sit still. The vial felt heavy in my pocket, as if it were calling out for immediate action.

Every time Lydia looked at me with those radiant, trusting eyes, I squirmed in my seat. How was I supposed to bring this up? 

The picnic continued as Riley and Seraphine shared stories, laughter ringing out across the garden. Lydia sat close to me, her hand occasionally brushing mine, her warmth a constant reminder of our connection. But every time her gaze lingered on me, I panicked. 

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I leaned over, keeping my voice low. 

"Lydia," I said, trying to sound casual, "could you, uh, come with me for a second?" 

She blinked, tilting her head in confusion. "Now? We're in the middle of eating." 

"It's... important," I whispered urgently. "Like, really important." 

Her brow furrowed, but she set her plate down. "Alright."
