Chapter 17 - Sleepless Night-3

Come on Arun, focus. Yelling won't do you any good.

Thus he started concentrating, trying to come up with a way from which he could kill that boar. The problem was its size. Not only was the boar massive, but it also possessed the strength and tusks that could tear apart wood like they were made or styrofoam. How could he fight such a monstrosity?

Although he has some ideas popped into his head. He could try and make a trap for the beast. But the thing was that he didnt have the equipment manpower or time to pull something like this off. As Arun was thinking about his next step, he got a notification.

As soon as Arun finished reading the notifications he heard a very loud pig snort in the distance…

He started feeling some tremors making their way towards him. Sensing the tremor he started panicking. He took out his poisonous arrows and nocked them. He then pulled the string and aimed it at the direction from where he could feel the tremors coming.

And sure enough after 30 seconds or so, the mama Erymanthian boar came tear all the trees in its path…

As soon as Arun saw the boar, he let go of the arrow. The arrow whistled through the air and went straight and lodged itself in the back of the board. The boar looked at the arrow with surprise, but the boar still didnt understand where the arrow came from. Seeing the stupidness of the boar, Arun fired two more arrows which both lodged themselves on the back of the boar's back.

After the second lodged itself on his back, it was then the boar spotted Arun. Then it ran straight towards the tree that he was hiding on. The boar made a distance between him and it, and then immediately came and slammed its tusks on the tree.

The whole tree shook from the impact. But Arun grabbed the branches of the tree tightly, as in no way he was in a position to fall on the ground. When he climbed the tree, he made sure that the tree was fat enough to absorb the impact of the boar. That is why he was sure that the tree would not fall but the impact of the boar.

But his confidence came crashing down when he saw that the from the earlier's impact the roots of the tree have coming out. The tree itself was now bent sideways. Seeing this Arun knew that there was no way that the tree would last for a long time. Before he could think of something else, the boar struck again once again…

This time Arun made a mistake. When the boar suddenly struck again, Arun mistakenly dropped his bow. And the bow landed on the ground. Seeing this a chill ran down his spine. Now the tree was almost about to fall, he was now stuck in a very diffiult situation.

There was no way in hell that he could get down from the tree and get his hands on the bow. That was impossible. There was an option of getting down from the tree and running away. But it wouldn't work. Because that thing had his smell memorized. And if he leaves this tree and starts running then this thing could easily track him down and kill him. Plus on foot, Arun was not all confident that he would be able to outrun this behemoth.

Arun then looked down towards the boar. He saw that the boar had to step back a few steps to gain some momentum. At that time, he knew that the tree would be uprooted with this slam. Considering the life and death situation, an idea popped into his head. It was a very very absurd idea but this was the only thing that came to his mind.

He quickly took two arrows from his quiver and waited for the boar. Before it could strike the tree, he jumped off the tree and onto its back. To get a better grip at the boar's back, as soon as Arun landed on the boar's back, he lodged the two arrows that he was holding onto the boar's back. Those arrows provided him with enough grip to stick on the boar's back.

The boar sensed that now, Arun was on his back. Therefore to get him off his back, it started jumping like a mad bull. But he didnt let go of the arrows no matter what. Then the boar started running at a frightening speed to get him off its back.

Arun who was stuck on the back of the boar started taking out the arrows in his quiver one by one and started stabbing the boar with it. After exhausting all of his arrows, he didnt know what else to do now. He was exhausted and knew that he wouldn't be able to hold on much longer.

But it was then from the corner of his eye, he saw a ray of hope. There were heads of Kongs and Kobolds hanging on the branches of the trees. This ignited a ray of hope in his mind. In a few seconds, he started seeing some light up ahead, it was heading towards the ray of light. And judging by its color, that light seems to be the light of a fire…

As soon as the Erymanthian boar, came near the campfire, he jumped off its back and landed on the wet ground nearby. Quickly he got up to check the condition of the boar. And sure enough, it had not sense that he was off its back. The thing had ran straight towards the campfire. From the shouts, yells, and screams that he was hearing, the goblins had started engaging the boar.

Seeing this as a good opportunity, he got up and was about to run away when he started seeing green and purple flashes of light from up ahead.

More specifically from where the boar and goblins were fighting.

What are those flashes? It didnt take him long to figure out. He had heard from Calux that huge tribes of goblins are a pain in the ass as they might be Shaman Goblins in their rank, who are Human Mages.

And those lights could only be the result of the magic. Thus he started getting tempted to check out what was happening over there. After all, he had never seen a magic caster before. So he started thinking about whether he should check out this battle or not. And after thinking about it for a while, he figured that it would be for the best if he just ran away quietly.

The boar was angry at him for killing its baby. And goblins would also be angry at him if they found out that the boar came to their camp because of him. So he made a plan that he should probably, just run away.

He then turned back and was about to walk away, but it was then he heard some crackling of dried leaves. Hearing this he understood that someone else was here beside him…
