Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 3

Chapter Three: School Begins

The warm morning sun shone through the windows of Cal's dorm room as a bellding chimed away, quickly getting agitated, as Cal wouldn't get up. He stood up and stretched his body recalling the tiring night he had experienced last night. He smiled at this and went to the large bathroom, tied a black towel around his waist and brushed his teeth. He left the walk-in bathroom just to meet a fully dressed Jayke that had been absent when he had woken up, was nowcombing his hair.

"How are you already ready," asked Cal.

"Pfft, I have super endurance I don't need that much sleep and besides I don't spend years in the shower getting ready" retorted Jayke gesturing to Cal.

"No comment," muttered Calister as he dropped the towel tied around his waist not caring that he would now be completely naked.

"Sheesh have some dignity Calister," said Jayke as he turned away.

"Meh, I don't care so why should you, don't worry you'll get used to it," said Cal as he walked back into the shower and turned it on the cool water droplets untensed his nerves causing his body to relax in a way that made him feel at peace.

He turned off the shower, walked back into the room, and saw that Jayke had left. He shrugged and then dried his wet self with his towel. He grabbed his comb and ran the bristles through his thick platinum hair. He snapped his fingers, some clothes unfolded themselves from his wardrobe and formed a series of outfits some to float at his front in a straight horizontal line as if waiting to be called upon. Each outfit came one by one as he waved his hand to signal them to where they had come from until he finally decided on a plain school outfit that consisted of; a white watch that had like a tornado of light in its background, a black and white hoodie (half white half black vertically with black and white lace on its black and white hood) that had a DJ Marshmallow face printed on its centre, he wore some black joggers, white sneakers and a pair of white non-recommended Louis Vuitton glasses.

He checked himself out through his mirror and ran a hand through his hair. He smiled and then muttered "Tersus," Immediately, the room began arranging itself and cleaning up every mess that had been created, when it was done, Calister walked out of the dorm, checked his watch and realised that it was already 8:40 am, he then tapped the watch causing him to warp to the cafeteria. There he met Camila sitting next to Jayke. He sat next to Jay just as someone sat next to him the boy had deep aquamarine hair, blue-green eyes, heart-shaped lips and a swimmer build he wore a white t-shirt and a pair of cargo shorts with white, green Nike logo sneakers.

He was cute and handsome. He smiled at the people at the table and then spoke.

"Hi, I'm Blake,"

"I'm Calister," said Calister who was still wondering where the boy had come from.

"Jayke but you can call me Jay," said Jayke who seemed to be checking him out.

"Ooh, nice name," said Blake who was wondering why he was being looked at like that.

"Camila," said Cam who was staring at photos of Kai that only she knew where she had gotten those from, while at the same time, she was reading a large book that seemed to be about history as she ran her fingers along the wordings.

"The Brainiac species really can do a lot of things at once," thought Blake.

Calister glanced at Camila and shook his head completely nonplussed at Cam's behaviour he opened his palm and all the photos of Kai flew into his hand like a magnet attracting light-weight metals. Camila turned towards Calister "What the fuck Calister, give the pics back."

"Cam, you know I won't and besides you've not eaten and he'll just end up breaking your heart," retorted Calister at the now-angered Camila.

"Oh please, keep that to yourself your crap is boring and you can keep the photos, and besides weren't you happy for me like yesterday," said Camila feigning dejection.

"Oh I was but I, uh…. changed my mind," said Cal as fire from his hand engulfed the photos and burnt them to ashes.

Camila paused, stared in shock at Calister, smiled, and then brought out another set of photos.

"Unbelievable Camila" exclaimed Jayke in utter disbelief.

"Oh, forget it, she's a lost cause," said Calister.

He then turned towards Blake.

"So what are your powers exactly cause by your aura I can tell that you're a Water Elementalist and a…,"

"Merman, anyhow you'd like to call it," said Blake a bit shyly.

"Ooh, nice I've always wanted to…" said Jakye making air quotes as he said "' Do' a mermaid," also making inviting looks at Blake.

"For fuck's sake Jayke, it's not everything on to legs that are up for having sex with you like chill," said Camila.

"Meh," said Jayke with a mouthful as he shrugged.

"Sorry man but I'm straight, No homo," said Blake as he shook his hands.

"Oh ok, we will have a good time together," said Jayke a bit disappointed.

"Anyways, Blake what class are you in," asked Calister.

"Oh uh, I think I would be in your class mostly for the shape-shifting part," said Blake.

"You know about… my powers, how?" asked Calister slightly shocked at this knowledge Blake had of him.

"Everyone does," said Blake.

"Oh buh…," Calister was interrupted by a bellding that had appeared from nowhere and was chiming loudly signifying that it was 9:00 am and that it was time for classes.

All the students got up and scurried to their classes.

Calister and Blake who were in the same class entered their noisy classroom. The desks were multicoloured in a somewhat mystical way the top of the desk was the texture and colour of grass, and the sides were beautifully designed with the creatures that surrounded the school as red, blue, green, yellow, and violet sprayed the desks. A sunshine glow at the top of the class lit up the class gaily with a mystical rainbow that hovered above the class.

"Wow," exclaimed Calister.

"Yeah, this is the class for practising all kinds of magic," said Blake with a smile as he gazed around the class.

Suddenly a woman with up to two feet of straight hair with a black and green ombre and blue-green tips style to it.

The woman began.

"Good morning students, if you don't already know I am Mrs Gren Tray and I have the power to copy whatever kind of magic you have,' she said as she walked towards the now-seated Blake and asked "May I?" she asked.

"You may ma'am." Answered Blake.

She smiled and touched his hand. His hand glowed blue. She left his hand and opened her balm as a blue light glowed and a bubble of water floated above it.

"As you can see, I copied his water magic but don't worry it's temporary I can't contain so much magic." She said.

"You can rely on me to teach you any magic you please,' she said as she glanced around at the surprisingly attentive students until her gaze landed on Calister "So Calister Madrigal " would you like to tell the class about you."

"Ok, I guess," said Calister almost grudgingly as he stood up and addressed the class.

"I am a werewolf and a light mage, weremage some people call it," said Calister as he summoned a light orb in his palm that vanished as he sat down.

"Thank you Calister," said Mrs Gren as she nodded lightly towards him," OK now, so today's class

Is a practical class so I would like all of you to hold on tightly to your desks."

Mrs. Gren snapped her middle and thumb fingers against each other causing green sparks to fly from them. Immediately, the room looked like they were travelling through millions of places as the wall blurred with the scenes of different places, with immense speed until they finally stopped at a big clearing amid beautiful green trees, neatly-trimmed carpet grass, ornamental flowers and amazingly huge training mannequins.

"Welcome to our school's training grounds for magic," she gazed around at the amazed children and grinned happily." Here, I am going to teach you mostly about combat, defence and helpful magic. OK so now let's start with a spell for teleporting to different places, is that fine by everyone," the woman asked, as she looked around at the now-murmuring students.

The class nodded in agreement as they got up from their seats just before they vanished.

"Ok now students, I want you all to spread out… yeah spread out just like that," said the woman as the obedient students did as they were told, their excitement soaring through the same.

"Good, now everyone close your eyes and stretch forth your hands, now think of the place you want to go…good,' said the woman as she admired her well-behaved students,' you will begin to feel the magic in your blood pulsate through you to your fingers and the colour of your aura begins to glow around it"

As everyone did this different colours of auras began to glow all around the field. Glows of green, yellow, blue, red and so many more shone throughout.

"Now say, while maintaining the place in your head, 'Teleportix'"

"Teleportix," said Calister his fingers. Immediately a swirling gas-like portal opened showing where he had wanted to go which was beside Cam. He saw her through the portal showing her having a math lesson with total concentration, her eyes glowing a dim white. She paid so much attention that she didn't notice Cal gazing at her through the circular cloud-like portal that floated some metres from her desk. He shook his head in total disbelief at Cam's unwavering concentration. He clenched his fist making the portal vanish into thin air, disappearing as quickly as it had come. He took a glance at the crowd of students and saw them smiling at the portals they had created until his eyes came in sight of a student who was having trouble creating a portal, the student kept chanting the spell, and blue sparks flew from his palm hopelessly.

Calister went to the student. It was Blake, he had a nervous and perplexed look pestering on his handsome face. When Calister got to him he was still chanting the spell repeatedly.

"Aaargh" groaned Blake in displeasure.

"What's up?" asked Calister pretending as if he didn't know what was going on with Blake.

"I don't know man, honestly dude, I'm freaking the fuck out… aargh" exclaimed Blake his hand now ruffling his hair causing a magic shockwave around him that passed through Caluel like floating water.

"He doesn't seem to be able to control the magic within him," thought Calister to himself.

"Hmm, okay let's try this, Hold out your and steady your breath, feel the magic that runs through you settle at your fingertips," said Calister almost fatherly-like.

"Okkk," said Blake as he did what he was told his fingertips now glowing an aqua-blue.

"Good, now say the spell," said Calister with faith in his heart.

"Teleportix," said Blake.

Immediately a blue swirling portal appeared showing the crashing waves of the vast Atlantic Ocean.

"Thanks, Cal, I owe you one and bye," said Blake. He dived into the portal.

"Ogiri," chanted Calister.

Just before Blake could enter the portal a white wall made out of what seemed like flexible plastic blocked him from the portal, his head bashing into the wall causing the portal to vanish.

"Don't, "said Caluel a hand up.

Blake got up, an angry look on his face as he rubbed his head in agony.

"What the fuck man," said Blake.

"What the fuck do you think you were going to do, huh?, jump into the ocean and swim away forever while making the teachers worried, oh fuck no!." said Calister.

"I want to leave this school don't you get it," said Blake a little bit calmer now.

"But why, the school's great, ain't it," said Calister reassuringly.

"The sea is the only place I can feel my birth parents' presence I was sent here by my foster parents, they're trying but it isn't the same with my birth parents,… It's hard, you know," said Blake.

"Oh," said Calister.

"It's ok that was very stupid of me," said Blake.

Mrs. Gren's voice boomed over, "Come on students, you have done most brilliantly well, now go to your seats and hold on."

The students hurried to their seats with excited chatter. The teacher snapped her fingers and the Same blurring scenes appeared again until they were in their class again.

"Class dismissed students, ah but Calister Madrigal please wait behind," said Mrs Gren.

"Ooooh" ooed some boys who sat at the back as they left the class.

"Thanks, Mrs Gren"

"Lovely class Mrs. Gren"

"You're beautiful Mrs Gren" the students greeted as they left. Mrs Gren replied with appreciation.

Calister relaxed on one of the tables at the front.

"I just wanted to thank you Calister for what you did with Blake," she paused and looked at Cal's blank face" He's been having trouble controlling his magic since the day his parents died, so I just want to thank you."

"Your welcome Mrs Gren," said Calister appreciatingly.

"You're dismissed," said Mrs Gren.

Their next class was shape-shifting. The class was held on the school's field. As the students got there they met their teacher, Mr Jackson. He was built like an athlete with strong muscular and lean arms that bulged out of his grey tank top and muscular legs that showed depth in his camo joggers. He had shoulder-length black-wavy hair that shook when he turned his head.

"Students," bellowed Mr Jackson.' As you all should already know I am your shape-shift instructor and coach, I am Mr Jackson.'

"For today's lesson, we are dealing with the werewolves, mermaids and vampires' he said as he clapped his hands together 'so every other chaoren has a free period and free pool time'.

"Oh my God" a jealous vampire whispered.

Mr Jackson looked in the vampire's direction and said: "Don't mistake me for a fool Serena I have super-hearing if you do not know, and by the way yours is today and theirs will be next week so I'm switching it up".

The others looked at poor Serena, now looking down at the floor.

"For our first lesson I am going to teach the vamp[ires how to control their hunger,…I need a volunteer from the werewolves."

A boy with light brown hair and blue eyes raised his hand as his friends chuckled hoping they'd be in for a laugh because their friend was a troublemaker.

"Ok… anyone else?," said Mr Jackson hoping to ignore the boy. "No one? Ok, Derek please step forward,"

Derek stood in front of Mr Jackson smirking. Mr Jackson grabbed the boy by his shoulder and turned him around to face the class, then whispered in his ear while the scared Derek whimpered. "This won't hurt a bit," he said just as a finger from Mr Jackson's hand grew into a wolf paw and scratched the boy's under arm allowing it to drip with his blood.

The vampires immediately started growing wild as their scleras became blood red and the under of their eyes became filled with black thick veins that bulged through their skin.

"Since the original vampires have been created and have created the vampire race, the vampires have always submitted to mortal blood as they need it to survive but too much of it makes them rippers which then makes 'em hunted out and killed. By werewolves".

He could hear the vampires murmuring in torture.

I want all of you to look at the blood dripping.

"Wait, what?" asked the surprised Derek "If you had wanted to kill me, you should have done it another way,"

"Hush boy, I won't let them kill you… students look at him," he then whispered in Derek's ear 'run'

Derek took to his heels, causing vampires to run after him, but Mr Jackson was quick and quickly said a spell.

"Immobilis" the vampires froze in place.

He then focused on the ones that didn't run since you guys aren't as uncontrolled as those.

"Here's a little advice, don't let the blood control you instead control it, blood lust is one of the disadvantages of being a vampire but it can be controlled all you simply have to do is look it in the eye and tell it 'you don't control me and then shut your senses of blood"

The vampires just stood amazed some annoyed by the fact that he isn't even a vampire.

Then he continued "Most of you may say that I am not a vampire but I am a werewolf, the urge to bite vampires or kill them grows with every passing second it is worse than bloodlust so take it from me and shut your senses off"

He then stretched his hands and chanted "Accio Appello". Immediately Derek appeared in their front dazed and scared and when he realized where he was he tried to act bravely and did as if nothing had happened.

He went back to his friends scared for his life.

"Children, pfft," thought Mr Jackson to himself.

"Now for the werewolves, depending on who has the upper hand at the time. Werewolves are also apex predators with vamps and can control their turn through constant training and vampires you guys are done for today and are allowed to have the rest of the class free." He said aloud.

"Werewolves watch," he said, his grey eyes fixated on them. Calister had his eyes on the man as his arms dislocated from his shoulders and broke, his legs doing the same, forcing him to be an all fours, as black fur began appearing all around him his head elongated into a snout and his body enlarged until he was a five-foot-tall werewolf, he shook his large tail once when it finished forming and then growled. He then prowled around the students his now glowing grey eyes studying them, he then turned back his clothes forming back on his body as he became human again.

"I want all of you to try this…" he gazed around again. "Now"

The werewolf jocks started turning immediately while others struggled, Calister who was the son of an alpha did it with ease. There was a chubby boy whom some of the other werewolves who had turned and turned back were teasing for not turning but Calister immediately recognised the boy because of his deep blue eyes. He was the Eastern Alpha's son and they are known for their temper. The boy whispered for them to stop but they kept on teasing. Then suddenly the boy's eyes began to glow neon and then suddenly he morphed into a large werewolf that bit at them savagely like a wild beast the eastern pack crest on his shoulder blade. The others then finally realised when they saw the crest but the boy out of anger had one of them caught in his mouth, the alpha venom in his teeth blocking the boy from turning Mr Jackson who was from the eastern pack could not do anything as he had to obey the alpha's child. Calister quickly morphed back into his white werewolf form standing six feet high. He lunged at the boy and bit him on his neck, he immediately dropped the boy in his mouth and whined, he knew the northern pack was the strongest and he wouldn't want to mess with the alpha's child. He growled and walked away.

While all this was happening the mermaids and mermen had scattered around the field in small patches while most of them stayed in the pool.

They hollered for Calister as he morphed back into his human form.

Then a student with blonde hair called for Mr Jackson.

"Yes?" asked the werewolf.

"I haven't heard from the sirens in a long time and since you're an expert on chaoren I would like to ask if you know anything about them."

Mr Jackson smiled and then asked "What is your name and what chaoren are you,"

The girl had almond-shaped brown eyes, brown hair, a heart-shaped face and small lips.

"I am Maria and I am a mermaid," the girl said confidently as the field fell quiet.

"Hence your interest I presume,… the siren are mystical creatures just like the chaoren they aren't much different from the mermaids they are tails are just less colourful and can make themselves look like humans. The siren according to old tales and lore, they used their songs to ward people, sailors mostly to the depths of the sea where they are then devoured, but for over a century it has been said that these creatures have been hunted down by men who managed to kill and eat one, a child to be precise which then granted them immunity over the songs of the siren, the sirens were then sought out in the depths of the ocean with strong magic and killed more than half of their population but over the years all the men who had eaten that siren flesh had all died out and the ones that were killed were burned in fear of its resurrection" he paused and then cleared his throat surprised at their strong attention then continued "the sirens are now stronger and have taken over some parts of the ocean, they are friends with the mermaids but still despise man"

A bellding then arrived.

"I'm sorry mermaids but times up" The students chatted their way out of the field and into the school building.

The mermaids grumbled and went out. Mr Jackson sighed then turned his back. From his hindsight, he realised that Maria was still there.

Calister had come back for the note he left in the grass by the bushes when he was turning and watched Maria.

Without turning back, Mr Jackson said "What do you want Sarai"

"How did you know, I thought my disguise was, flawless," asked Maria now a beautiful fully grown woman with silver blond hair and grey eyes.

"Well I'm a werewolf, magician and a teacher, I could sense it the moment you spoke."

"Hmph," said the lady.

Mr Jackson walked towards the lady and cradled her arms into his "What do you need Selene,"

"Nothing my love I just fear that we are in grave danger and I need you to come with me"

Calister moved a bit in the bushes causing the bushes to ruffle and alert the already-aware Mr Jackson of his presence.

He feigned obliviousness and left Selene "Who's there," called Mr Jackson.

Calister gulped and didn't answer. Selene immediately vanished as if she had gone into thin air.

"Veni ad me," chanted Mr Jackson. Immediately a force pulled Calister out from the bushes and just in front of Mr Jackson.

"And what were you doing there," said Mr Jackson.

"Nothing I...I just needed my notes back that I forgot over there," gulped Calister.

"You can go," said Mr Jackson as he released the spell holding Calister.

Calister swiftly grabbed his notes, dropped them in his bag, and ran into the café for lunch.

Calister dropped his bag on a chair, swept his hand through his hair and glanced around. He noticed Cam nearing him, he sat down on the chair beside his bag and watched as his lunch floated to his seat. He grabbed his utensils and began eating. Cam arrived and sat beside him just as her food floated towards her.

"Hey," greeted Cam.

"Hey," muffled Cal. His mouth was full.

"So, what do you have next?" asked Calister.

"Well I have History next," said Cam as she reclined back in her chair and smiled at Cal intently. Her hair packed steadily at her back, she leaned forward again took a bit of the food and asked.

"You?"

Cal stopped eating and replied, "I think I got Math?, next, I'm not sure, to be honest."

"Of course, you aren't" smiled Camila just as she finished up her meal.

"I'm off, see ya later jock," said Cam as she stood up, grabbed her books and hurried to class.

"Even I can't eat that fast." thought Calister to himself.

He finished up his meal, grabbed his backpack and went for Math.
