Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Father vs Son Duel

In magic arts there are two types of mana users mainly Spellblades and Mages. Spellblades are mana users who use mana to increase their physical abilities as well as infusing their weapons and strikes with elemental magic depending on their attributes while Mages are mana users who use incantations and/or visualization to conjure spells which can create and affect matter/mana material in various ways.

The next day after the challenge statement, Ace and Chris each prepared in their own way for the duel to be disputed in merely hours away. And so at noon they confronted each other on the plane near the village. The village chief acted as both witness and referee for the duel, and some villagers came to watch the battle unfold. Among them Ellie, Shaw and Maria could be seen.

With focused eyes, father and son glared at each other, drew their blades and took their stances. The chief raised his hand then proceeded to dropping it while shouting loudly "START!" which signaled the start of the duel.

In an instant both warriors dashed and vanished at high speed and reappeared clashing in the center, wind blew in a sudden and powerful gust. "Show me the fruit of your training and resolve son!" screamed Chris as he raised his flame-covered sword for a downward strike. "Witness and feel it father this is my own strength, Shadow Arcane: Black Blade Dance!" said the young boy as his footwork and sword sweep blocked and countered his father's blade.

As they run around the field at high speed clashing with each other, they unleash sword techniques upon sword technique, magical art upon magical art, those witnessing the fight become captivated at this myriad of black shadows and red fire which emanate such high levels of mana.

Reminescing his time as a mercenary, Chris acknowledges that Ace has reached a high-level of combat mastery in both magic and sword. As both were covered in injuries. Chris smiles upon his son, countering his stab and kicking him away with a powerful blow.

"You truly are strong Ace, you've grown to great heights. But if you're unable to breakthrough this next attack then you will lose and be heavily injured." Said Chris as he held his sword on top of his head, calming himself and taking a deep breath while his aura created red hot atmosphere around him and his blade covered in crimson golden flames. "This will be my final attack so prepare yourself." He screamed.

"This is bad, his mana is being concentrated around his entire body." told Ryu as he speaks telepathically with Ace. "I know. My old man is really giving his all, so what do you say Ryuugetsu ready to take up the challenge?" said Ace. "Hahahaha, bring it with your power and my blade we'll breakthrough him" as the two were in perfect sync, Ace released all of his mana for the single final strike, his eyes being shaded with a light beast-like hue, running down his index finger from the base towards to tip of his sword.

They unleashed all their power, the father and son duel was reaching its climax. "Mirage Soaring Phoenix!" stated Chris unleashing his technique while Ace released "Shadow Arcane, Chaos Blade: Armaggaedon", they both clashed their sword and mana creating an intense pressure deforming the landscape and as Chris with a determined and unyielding gaze had his sword on the brink of breaking through Ace's attack, suddenly the son was covered in an aura of black with silver hues everywhere, his eyes were deep black with white iris and a silver flame emanating from his right eye.

It was as if space and time were fixed this sudden change gave him an deformed shadowy bat-like appearance. And while gazing at it, Chris with surprise felt a shudder running down his spine and was striked with a crossed sword attack going up wards on the left and then downwards to the right.

A big explosion was released, and after the dust cleared away it was Ace, exhausted and out-of-breath who was standing victorious while Chris laid down injured. And thus the father-son duel ended with the victory of Ace who then fell unconscious.
